Somehow or another I blew one of the "W" seals out of my hydraulic pump. I figured out why, fixed it, bought a "hydraulic pump o-ring kit", out with the old, in with the new, and put it together. <br>

Problem - the "W" seals in the FIRST new kit are thicker than the large o-ring seals, a lot thicker. When it's assembled the gears are so tight, trapped between the "floating sleeves" that hold the gears in place and form the pressure area, that they can not be turned, not even with a wrench. I need to turn them slightly to align the nose of the shaft up with the slot in the drive gear on the engine.<br>

I called the supplier. He said that the o-ring thickness didn't sound right, compared it to an old style set he had, and sent me the "old" style new set of o-rings. The "W" seals were considerably thinner than the FIRST problem set, but still noticeably thicker than the original set that came in the pump. I reassembled the pump with the SECOND new set and am having the same problem, I can't turn the pump gear to align. (In the original set the o-ring seals were round rubber that laid perfectly in the square cut slot in the steel portion of the pump housing. The "W" seals were flat rubber formed to the shape of the inner high pressure seal area. The FIRST new set had flat o-ring seals that laid perfectly in the square cut slot in the housing, as did the "w" seals, but the "W" seal was about half again thicker than the o-ring seal. The "old style" seals are like the original set, but the round o-ring doesn't fit well in the square cut slot, smaller than the cut, and the "W" seal is between the original and the first set in thickness. Thick enough that it's visibly thicker without miking it, or needing to measure it.)<br>

I'm not a tractor guy, nor a diesel guy, not even much of a hydraulic guy (you may have noticed) but I've turned more than a few wrenches on cars (before they were giant computers with mufflers) and this has me stumped about how to proceed. Do I eyeball the position of the shaft, assemble it and hope the hydraulic pressure pushes the floating sleeves apart enough that the steel gears don't destroy the aluminium floating sleeves? <br>

If I buy o-rings that fit the outer seals (upper and lower), and buy an additional o-ring, cut it to length, and install it in the "W" ring space will that work? or will I be committing some kind of hydraulic hara-kiri? I need a solution because I'm rebuilding my corrals and have been down for 6 days and may have to rent a tractor to finish.<br>

This was purchased in 3-2005 and has a Y385T engine. The hydraulic pump is part of the engine and mounts on the back side of the front timing cover. I have a FEL and a box scraper that I run off of this pump.<br>

A front blade is the way to go, With a rear blade you drive over and pack the snow before it is removed. If you reverse the blade you will have to back up all the time for a clean sweep.

I bought my tractor with very low hours but the radio antenna was broken off. So, I bought the complete antenna with the cable, antenna and mount with hardware. However, the existing cable was okay. Either the existing cable was routed wrong or I am missing something because I could not get the cable screwed onto the antenna. It just didn't seem long enough and I could not get my hands in there to get it started. Help! I'm sure that I am probably doing is backasswards.

Actually I am sitting inside the barn. I think they are more comfortable with the station now, they grabbed a chicken from a rope I had hanging about 5' in the air. I had also been leaving some on the ground which was randomly eaten. The chicken made it two weeks before they touched it, so I am quite confident I have their attention and "trust" now.

I am going to put some bait there again tonight and then hang some on a rope for the weekend, hopefully that will have them up in the air for me and more visible Saturday night.

I don't think the 200 series (to include the 180) diff lock will even engage till a rear wheel is actually slipping. Then it's a simple matter of pulling on the lever. To avoid damage, the tractor should be heading in a straight line any time diff lock is engaged. That means don't turn the steering wheel either. Assuming it's working correctly, as soon as you back off on the throttle - the diff lock should disengage by itself. If not, just return the lever to the home position - and apply a little grease to looosen it up.<br>

Go with the FEL (make sure it is the 200CX which is quick-tach) and you will never regret the decision -- even when it comes time to trade-up or in!

The differences compared to a full CUT will be with things like a Box Blade (you will probably need a shallow one designed for a sub-CUT, but it will still do a good job), and this will go for all the attachments on down the line, it will have to be sized for your tractor. However, you will be able to run a 50" tiller, the loader will have decent lift capacity etc. If a backhoe is in your plans, you might want to look at larger machines (the Kubota does offer this, and there are aftermarket models for the Deere), but if that is an intended use, then I recommend you look larger. As for mowing, a sub-CUT does and excellent job at this. If I were you, I would think carefully about your usage, test drive several machines and colors, think about dealer support, and then make your decision.

I need to install a hitch on my Ford SportTrac, and am not sure if one brand is better than another. I have looked at both "Hidden Hitch" and "Draw-Tite" both Class III. The Draw-Tite brand costs about $135 with free shipping and the Hidden Hitch brand costs $125 with free shipping. Is one better than the other, their specs and pictures look nearly identical?

I am in the market for a B2782 snow blower for my B2910. The blower with the hydraulic rotating chute option requires a 4-way loader valve (B2079). My LA402 loader is from 2001 and only has a 3-way loader valve on it. So, what is the difference between a 3-way and 4-way valve, and why would it be necessary? I've been hunting the internet for an answer to no avail.

B7610 here (same as 7510). With heavier implements (like the Jinma wood chipper), mine leaks down. Not enough to be a problem. I just turn the control knob under the seat off and then it stays in place.

How thick are the trunks on those willows? I'm a big fan of the JD MX5 cutter and cut scotch broom (pretty tough stuff) up to 2 1/2" thick easily with my 4310. It's the heaviest cutter JD has that's rated for use with the 790. It's more expensive than most, but remember it comes with chain guards and a slip clutch so factor those costs in when you're shopping.

Clutch disc is stuck to the flywheel. The easy way to get it loose if you can start the tractor is to put it under heavy load (pulling up a hill, or plowing) in a high gear with opened up throttle. Push the clutch in and it might break loose by itself. If not, and you have access to the clutch through an access hole, sometimes you can use wooden wedges or pry around with a prybar and get it loose. You can damage the clutch that way though; and make sure the tractor is blocked so it can't roll if you get it loose while you're under it working on it.

Happens frequently on older tractors parked outside.

Some people "block the clutch" if their tractor isn't going to be used for a while. This is just inserting a little chunk of 2x4 or whatever between the clutch pedal and the floorboard just enough to keep the clutch disc from contacting the flywheel.

I'm also a BX23 owner/lover. This forum convinced me to buy two years ago - how did I ever do anything without it?

I'm also in the snowblower dilema. I'm outside of Boston and our snowfall is somehwat unpredictable. The local dealer wants $2400 for the Kubota blower, sub frame, and pto driveline. Does this seem like a lot to you guys?

I have a brand new macadam (gravel and tar) drive and don't want the local plowers to destroy it's look. About 1200 feet total.

Any alternatives? Please give me your thoughts.

That feature is float and it's common on most loaders. It's useful so the bucket or blade can float up and down to follow the terrain.

The basement does have a 9' ceiling but I'd rather not squish it down to less than 8 feet if possible. We'll put in a suspended ceiling which will take a few inches as well. Worst case, we will run the ducts around the perimeter, soffit around them, and have a tray ceiling.
