At this point it's just a trim piece for the dash. I could probably find one in a junk yard. We'll be selling it anyway but I'm thinking this problem will have to be considered when selecting brands for future purchases. The problem is worse with all the sensors needed in modern vehicles. If you can't get something like a throttle position sensor you're SOL.

We had a Legacy at one time, FEL, Rear PTO, 3-point, etc. This was before the XL model came out, but after looking at the XL, they made some valuable modifications, but fell short of making it a sub-compact utility tractor. I would put it a grade below the BX or 2200 series JD for size and capability. I would put it a grade above the rest for quality. They are an extremely well built machine, but the features don't match up. The hydraulic system alone is lacking to use as a utility tractor. The model we had used electric clutches for the PTO engagements, front and rear. The hydraulics might have been improved along with pto engagements, but these are a few features you should take a good look at before you decide.

Simplicity was a great company to deal with. The people in Port Washington were very helpful and knowledgeable. Just make sure you match your needs with the machine. And, besides the Kawasaki LC engine option, they are American Made.

Normally wires are color coded based on a standard and you can easily identify the actual wire and trace it on the schematic. The NH owner's manual schematic and the actual wires do not match. Maybe the NH engineers designed it this way to force the owner to take the tractor to a NH shop.

For example a white wire with a black tracer should be identified as wht/blk on the schematic and green(grn)is always ground. Blue is blu not "L". Red is the positive side of the battery and black is the negative. I have found black wires with gold bands, no mention of gold on the wire color chart.

On my schematic there is a misspelled word, they list wire color code BY for Glack/Yellow. Doesn't say much for Q/C.

I am pleased with my TZ24 and not the least bit sorry I purchased it. There are items that do need improvement and the wiring schematic is one of them.

While I am on the subject, I would like to have a service manual, but I think $237 is excessive, about $50 would be reasonable.

homeinOR, I haven't checked out the websites offered by anyone here but I'm sure they offer some good options.
I don't know how far you are from Portland Meadows racetrack but where does the ground get more beat up from horses than at a racetrack? I've seen what they use at a distance to groom the track after each race at Meadowlands a few times but don't know exactly what it is. You may consider calling them if they aren't close and asking maintainance what they use on the track or other areas. I also realize there's probably a difference between constant grooming and doing it once a month or so. Steve

I agree with the level of engine noise being excessive. I enjoy listening to books on tape while doing chores and must crank the volume to max when operating the Kubota RTV. I have had my RTV since 4/04 and am very pleased with its performance and reliability.

There are various equipment dealers associations. Ohio and Michigan have joined for the OMEDA for the Ohio Michigan Equipment Dealers Association. All the dealers belonging to this are listed and they have them grouped by "John Deere" etc. with a listing of address, phone & fax number and contact. You could do a broadcast fax.

I would at least go with placing the cutter on pallets, greasing, I leave the belts on my MMM, if you brush hog is prone to rusting; you could mix up some 90 weight oil and diesel fuel or kerosene and spray the mix over the entire brush hog on top and underside to protect it from rust and corrosion. I coat my pto spreader in this manner. Just be careful not to get any on the slip clutch. I would suggest removing the pto shaft and slip clutch for storage indoors if possible. A tarp or storage under a pole barn or one of those $695 metal car ports would be a good idea. I am not real keen on tarps as they tend to trap moisture. I would also preface all of this by first giving the equipment as thorough a cleaning as possible removing any debry & clippings from the top deck.

I was under the impression that FST stood for "Fully Synchronized Transmission" (i.e. a gear-type model) and DT stood for "Dual Traction" (i.e. 4WD). On their website it looks as though Kubota designates 2WD gear-type models as "F" and 4WD gear-type models as "DT". I think most if not all HST or GST models are 4WD.

You really should try the other board mentioned above. You can't post their name here. Just go to the Yanmar board and key 1700 into the search box at the bottom of the page. Several regular poster have 1700's. Also, some of the regulars here use that board as well and can give you good advice on Yanmars. Yanmar did make lots of JD's but they are not ncessarily interchangeable and your local JD store will probably treat you like a step child if you tell them you have a gray market Yanmar.

Your 1700 is very close to my 2000B and some spec's are as follows: Normal working speed is 1800 to 2400 RPM. PTO in lowest gear at 2200 engine RPM is 540 PTO RPM which is what you want to mow with. If you don't already have an overrun clutch for the PTO, get one before you use the brush hog.
Oil change every 100 hours or annualy.
Mine has full gauges so I don't know about the lights, but manual shows left light is Temp, middle is Charge, and right is Oil Pressure.

Turn your steering wheel all the way to both extents a few times. This ussually helps bleed any trapped air from the hydraulic system.

You may still want to check your quick connects. Even with care, you can get something stuck in one of the poppet valves. Clean them off with a little compressed air and make sure they seat properly when you re-assemble them.

The kerosene would more than likely cause the clutch to slip or perhaps damage it, although the kerosene should eventually evaporate from the area. Not sure if I would try that. I suppose at some point you have got nothing to loose by trying that if nothing else works.

I know it's not a compact utility.. but I have a question on my LT155 lawn tractor. I had to replace the spindles on the mower deck (38"). They're a sealed unit so I bought one part number AM128048 from my local dealer. It was identical to the original. I had to get the other from another dealer and this one's the same EXCEPT there is no grease fitting (and no place for one). Does anyone know if they've made a change in the design (no longer have grease fittings) or is this one made wrong?? Figured one or two of you are dealers and might know first hand..

I agree with Oneace. My NH dealer suggested that I keep my Craftsman DLT2000 with a grass catcher because it'll be cheaper than the NH grass catcher attachment and much less aggrivation. $2200 is pretty steep for an attachment!

Unless your question was just one of curiosity, then frequency is simply 1/time. Equivalently, a Hertz = (1 cycle)/(1 second). You need 60 cycles/second, so if you know that your generator is based on a certain RPM, then you could potentially do things like strobe the drive shaft with a reference frequency or use magnetic pickups. But that is too much work...opt for the meter.
