Were I live I never once saw them. Now they are every where just in the last two years. Hell I did not even know they were coyotes till my neighbor told me. Haven't had to the need to get rid of any yet but as they become more brazen I am sure I will.

I have 35 hrs on my bx now and its almost wintertime and I figure I will put about 15 to 20 hours on it during the winter. I dont feel like doing a 50hr serv in the cold(no heated garage) Do you think its all right to go over 5hrs before I do the service. This way I can do it in the spring time <br>

I don't know the layout of your place, but any area that is over about 15* needs to be traversed up and down only. Even at 15* you have to make sure that there is no large rocks,logs or dips. An obstacle like that can change the angle from safe to dangerous really fast.

Update.....I got it fixed!!!!

After much aggrevation, and unnecessarily replacing several good parts, I got it figured out. It was a faulty neutral start switch on the HST pedal. Since you can't start it in gear without the clutch pedal depressed anyway, it seemed somewhat redundant to me, so I just bypassed it, and now all is well. Thank you all for your help and suggestions, I sincerely appreciate it.

The dealer should give you the name and number of the JD rep if you ask politely. Just tell 'em what you said here. If it were me I would ask the JD rep about them giving me an extended warranty at their expense or trading it for a new one under warranty without taking a financial bath. If he wouldn't I'd get it fixed, sell it and by a different brand. Be polite, respectful, calm and firm.

The salesman is throwing you a line of BS. In my view, I would be going to the dealer with checkbook or cashiers check in hand as well as my truck with the trailer hooked up and ask to speak with the dealer owner or manager. Tell them you are ready to buy and make them an offer of 25% to 30% off MSRP. 40 to 150 hours is a used tractor. The fact that the dealer has so many sitting on their lot unsold speaks volumes. Now is the end of the season and this equipment won't be moving so fast allowing you a good opportunity to strike a good bargain. If they turn their nose up at your offer; just politely get up and walk out.

I'm in Eastern MA, and the price was from a dealer in southern NH (starts with C). It appears to be about 10% off MSRP based on Aldermans's pricing (after dealer prep, etc), and of course, there is no sales tax in NH. The catcher seems out of whack with the MSRP.

That price was just an initial quote, but I don't expect that they will come down much. I'll be calling around the other dealers this week and would be open to hints about local dealers that competitive.

Kind of what I was thinking Harvey. Even with the Curtis loader blade (I sold) I always have to let the base build and freeze prior to scraping.

My truck plow used to send the stones all over the place too, another reason I don't use one any longer.

Art,

Right now I have a gear transmission B1550 with a snowblower and mm deck. It's a great tractor but I feel a tractor with HST and live pto would be far superior. That's why I'm looking for the B1750 because my blower and deck would fit it.
A reason that I may look for another model is for ease of attaching implements and or a FEL. I don't plan on real heavy work, but the snow blower is pretty important.
Also the size of the B1550/B1750 fit nicely on my trailer with the blower attached.

What you have there (appears to be an old Fisher plow) is actually a better fit for these small tractors than the Curtis loader blade.

You have the capability to "float" the blade with the chain as well as determine the angle of the cutting edge, something the Curtis design does not offer. Yes, you can tilt the blade forward or backward with the Curtis but it is solidly connected to the loader/tractor so the effects are drastic as the blade will not achieve a float other than that inherent to the loader. If you try using that the minute resistance is met the front wheels lift and you lose steering.

I used the same Curtis on both NH and my Kubota with the same result, extreme dislike. After realizing the drawbacks I would have been dollars ahead converting an old unit as you have. I believe that the loader curled back a bit is far and away better than a Curtis blade.

Depending on all the uses it might be easy to justify the extra horsepower alone not counting on other options! You might want to be looking at larger attachments for that chassis as well as horsepower.

kthompson, thanks for the lesson on amps/watts. That is good information.

metastable, as far as lights go, we did about the same thing. Someone gave me a piece of what they called engineering angle. It is light gage, and has lots of holes in it. Attached it to the ROPS with U bolts, and thin rubber sheeting for the same reason you mentioned. I bought a "tractor light" at Advance Auto ($15 and 55 watt), mounted it in the center of the angle and pointed it forward. However, there were too many dark streaks in it, and too much flood. Too much of it shined on the back of my head. So, I decided to point it to the rear and put it on a separate switch. Then went to Walmart and purchased a set of compact lights made by APC, also 55 watt each ($15) and mount them to the angle in the corners of the ROPS. They had 2 types, flood and beam. I got the beam. They are on a separate switch too, and light up the front pretty good, not the back of my head. The factory headlights will seldom be needed now, and all the lights will not typically be on at once, so I am hoping the alternator will handle the load okay.

I agree with Ken to have the shaft break every 200 hours it must be a fatigue at that position. The only thing I can think of is that the transmission is out of alignment some way in the casting. It could be in the internal bearing guide machining or casting its self. It must be flexing the shaft at that position. You would also need to consider the casting of the engine block being out of square on the mating surface of the splines in the flywheel. Check the flywheel to determine if it is running true as this could add to the dynamic unbalancing of the input shaft.<br>
As with any mechanical problem if you can investigate and deterimine what the problem is you have an easier time with getting proper compensation from the manufacturer. I am accustomed to checking tight alignment of printing and injection moulded parts. I am sure if you look closely you should be able to determine what is out.
