I am not sure how the Ram Rods tare things up. My friend is on lawns all the time. It is certainly the lightest rig that would carry the load. But not too quickly.

Bobcat makes a rig that steers all four wheels to reduce the slipage. Naturally we are talking radically different price scales.

Here in Oregon the Biscuit fire burned 500,000 acres of old growth forest. The environmentalists have had salvage logging of hundreds of millions of board feet of timber from that burn tied up in lawsuits for years. It's probably too late now, a lot of it has rotted. What a waste.

SAMS Club carries a hyguard equivelent/I have not had any problems with it either summer or winter/check the container ,it will say so j20c or j20d.

check your male/female quick couplers,sometimes the seating snap ring in the coupler will do exactly as you described. I have had to replace both male and female couplers on my 419 and I carry a few on hand. A bad coupler will act like a leak and will not seal or apply full presure as the poppet acts as a restrictor (squeal as in a by pass/overload condition)if not seated correctly.<br>
Your by-pass /relief valve is under the seat,I will bet you have a bad male coupler in that circuit.

Thanks all for a great conversation. I actually like cutting grass (except for the hornets LOL ) It gives me time to relax and think a bit. Zero turns are out, I want a small tractor for other things like the leaf picker-upper and the trailer. (remember my TC40 is a long way away from here so I sometimes need to use a small trailer behind my riding tractor). I have decided to go for a Kohler engine (I believe they are in many lower end/mid end
JD's.) Craftsmen has a few Kohler engines BUT low and behold THEY ARE ALL gone from my state for the year! Cant find one anywhere and possible only a few sears stores still have the models I would consider. Just a bit late in the year around here for this. I am looking into Cub Cadet. Fact is I think I have found the last one at a farm and fleet by me. A bit larger than I wanted and 2hundred more than I wanted to pay but if I can get it I will be happy. Its a 20hp Kohler pro comand (one cylander only though) hydro all the toys elect lift power etc.It has a 46" deck and three blades??????? I wanted the next size smaller (19hp 42" deck and 2 blade everything else is the same) BUT they are not to be found AGAIN at this time around here. SOOOO I will pay the $1699 for the first one I described. Gotta go and try and get the store to hold it for me (OVER THE PHONE) till tomarroo)

I don't know, Mark but one guy at a refinery told her winter gas was cheaper to make but they were already into the winter blend. Maybe that's one of the reason gas goes down in the cooler months?

Unless you have very, very light snowfalls, I think that is too much plow and mounted too far forward for a 1400 pound sub-cut. Dennis makes the point that it is too much plow for a 1700 pound machine.

It would certainly be too much for my 1800 pound JD 4115.

I had a BX22 and a Kubota front blade. It was 54 inches wide and mounted close and tight to the front end. I think I paid about $1000 for mine, but that was three years ago.

Since then it has been improved and mounts/dismounts a lot faster.

A D-722-E-BX engine sells for 3000. Most normally used in 18 horsepower applications also used in the G-series mowers.

It is hydro. Went by and talked to the dealer today. The tractor has 177 hours. It has a fair amount of scratches and scrapes but no real dents. Probably more wear than I would have expected for the number of hours. The dealer has $12,300 in the unit and will let me have it for that, just to move it. He is a JD dealer and must not like that orange out there with all his green. Seems like a pretty good deal other than the cosmetic damage. Going to have a friend who has more knowledge to go by and look at it. Any suggestions?

i am looking to sell a 92 2 wheel gravley tractor in exelent shape,it has a kohler electric start engine ,it is an 8 speed top of the line vershion.i have a nice tiller that goes with it that is on the machine currently,when you turn it on you cannot hear it run which is impressive for such a noise potenchal apratus,i also have a general pourpos mower that goes with it also and a sulkey. the implements ive seen for it online are extensive frome snow throwers to dozer blades i even saw some mentions of small backhoe?i like this tractor it is simpel powerfull and defently a long lived machine.if could afford you to make very productive work frome hard chores. i only want 1800. for it all which is littel for a machine like this. their should be a gravely dealer near you to determine for your selve.i am located in north florida and will delive for free if your near anough if you determine you want to buy it after you see it work.i have 2 and am currently selling the best of the 2 the other is older and am fabracating a 4 foot mower for it now. and adding duels. maby in the near futuer ill sell it.email me for pictures i have a few. jason faulkner.fulkne12"at"wmconnect.com

Hey,
I've had mine about a year now and love it!!! One thing that comes to mind is that all the nut and bolt sizes are metric. The 5103 tractors are assembled in India.

Just wondered if your felt you needed caps or plugs to seal off the free hose ends and input connectors to the valve block while you removed and worked on it?

I put a big dent in mine while rolling the mower deck (somewhat carelessly) underneath the tractor. The mounting tab for the lift arms is tall enough to hit the filter if you shove the deck in without watching closely.

If the filter isn't leaking, you should be fine.

Personally I don't think the B7800 and the JD 790 can compare. The JD 790 is a tractor frame that dates back more than 20 years. It is gear drive, dry brakes, full tunnel and one frame. The only items updated are the engines and possibly the pumps.
The B7800 on the other hand is HST, modern flat deck, wet brakes and dual frame. I had the older 750 which is the same tractor with less HP and now the newer one the 955. They sold at one point with the 790, 4000 series and 955. The 955 was the most expensive. If you climb on and off the 790 a few time like you will hooking up equipment of moving items with the FEL, you will quickly see there is no comparison.

I used the old back against a tree stump trick did not work, even after multiple attempts. I also am depressing the clutch for a few days to see if that may free it. To answer the other question the garage floor is concrete. But the tractor has been outside for 3 months. Any other suggestions would be great. I also have a woods 5 ft belly mower on the IH cuts grass great but only at one setting low. I attach some cabels to a pully system that seems to be designed for the woods, but i can never keep it level and the cables seem to break alot. None the less i was wondering if their was a system used to raise and lower the deck. thanks again

From my perspective up to a couple of inches of sway is tight. You don't want your link arms to contact the sidewalls of the rear tires. The only instance I can think of having the need to be somewhat tight is if you have a hitch adapter on for a trailer and want to get good positioning control in reverse. Even then, it is surprising how accurate and easy you can back a trailer while having an inch of looseness or more.

Usually the amount of looseness you want is enough to spread the arms to load over the pins. Once it is on, it don't matter if they are tight on the sides.
