Yes both are tops, in my consideration, the loader is the single most important feature when both tractors are excellent. I found the JD to detach/attach easier and quicker, no kick stand junk on the JD. Go to the dealer and do both yourself. Look at the breakout strength at the pivot pin NOT the lift capacity. It is generally a useless number but good for comparison. The strongest is just necessary for me and JD smoked the comparables. It may have changed with new models. Get the Quick tach bucket with the univeral skid steer pattern. If you ever want any other attachments, you will be glad.

I can believe their asking price, and I can believe it has sat since August. I can believe it will be sitting there next August if they do not come down a lot, but you know a fool and his money soon part ways and fools are plentiful. They are hoping for one. Patience is the hard part. I searched almost 6 months to get one just the way I wanted used. I almost always go with a private sale. I turned a 4400 down for haveing turf tires and a 72 inch bucket for $14,000 with the 72 inch belly, 430 loader and a 3rd remote, 475 hours. Tires were not right and 72 inches is too big for a bucket on a 430 no matter who says different. I was bummin for not grabbing it but I just would not have been happy. Dealers have a lot of overhead and need to charge for it, I understand but I want a deal I can resell if necessary and not take a bath. For every month it sits there it costs them money, interst lost or paid depending on their finances and it depreciates over time. Walk in with green cash, make sure the sales manager sees it not just the salesman, you may be surprised. Take the hard line approach and walk away. He may chase you, he may call in a day. I went a state away to look at a used VW TDI at a dealer. I offered far less than they wanted and refused a penny more. The jerks waited till I got home to call and say I could have it. It is worth less each day. Today my search for a Steiner mower ended. 6 months of searching seriously, several years of wanting. I got a 420 with 60 inch deck fairly good cond. for $2000. worth the wait. good luck.

I guess common sense is not. Having the 3 point about to support the digger and actually digging a hole at the same time would require your hand to be on the position control lever and slowly lowering it, and therefor if it did start to lift, you would not need to disengage the clutch, just pust the lever down allowing it to corkscrew into misery. So to all readers, do not just reach over and tap the position control a little and then move your hand far far away, leave it there.

The piggy bank is what I thought the problem with Bomford units was. I was on their web site when your message hit. I have considered building my own but was stuck on the cutter itself. It would have to be hyd. driven and I could not find a hyd driven flail mower and to put a hyd motor on a pto unit looked like some what of a rpm challange. Any advice on your experience would be appreciated.

The same is true of grey market construction equipment.

There are several sources for it here in Canada, usually it sells for about 2/3rds the cost of a comparable "legit" piece.

The big problem however is it usually has almost none of the safety features, like a ROPS, that the stuff imported here by the manufacturer is equipped with.

Parts can also be problematic on some models.

As a "commercial operator" we are forbidden from using this type of stuff becuase it does not comply with safety standards here. I believe the US is the same in this regard.

On the 42,43, and 4400/4410 machines, the steering has a separate pump but uses the same oil as the hydrostatic pump I believe.

I purchased from Agri Supply a 3 point mounted bucket that looks just like for front end loeader. It has small hyd cyl to replace 3rd arm. You raise it with 3 point hitch and tilt it with hyd cylinder. Your tractor must have one remote hyd for this to work. Agri Supply is on the web and if this is not on there send them email on it. It was made in Florida. It did cost more than the scope bucket but haven used both no comparions to advantage. Scope will dig and this will not. Range of action is not near the same as front end loader but neither is price.

I purchased a used B 2710 about 3 years ago for mostly mowing. My dealer recommened it over an L model for the HST and power steering so my wife could use it. By far for mowing the HST is the way to go if you have trees or such or just to slow down to turn and try not to cut the grass. The first tractor I ever bought the dealer talked me out of turf tires and let me test normal farm tires on his turf. He point was the front tires turning does the tearing and he was right. My B 2710 has industrial tires and they seem to be a good mix of pulling and easy on turf. I also found the HST to be great for any work that requires stop and go such as using blade or rough cutter. Like the manual trans for work that needs a steady speed or you need to be able to turn using the brakes as with the HST that option is lost in real use or on my model it is. Two points I have not seen in these replies is...lighter tractor is rougher riding...does not bog as easy and if it does it easier to pull out...also less traction. If you buy HST be sure you use the right range and not just depend on the light use of foot control.

I have a neighbor who has about a 1 acre pond that is perpetually clear. I asked him at a sale once how he kept his pond clear, he responded it was a secret but then laughed and said I use a product called aquashade available at the local farm center. The pond holds good fish and the product was reported as being non-toxic.

Also when leveling ground/gravel it stops the rake from "washboarding" -- an effect that just seems to keep getting worse on its own. Go with the wheels.

AHHHHH, I think your hooked! Just think how much more you could do and how much faster it would be with the larger B-series with the three range transmission for better ground speed and power and 500 plus more lbs and just over 48" wide! The BH75 hoe with stronger dig out force and the larger loader would be nice for knocking over trees. Five foot hog and send the swisher down the road!

I fork lift will have just as much flow as your tractor. The cyl the control tilt and side shift should already have restricting orifices in the ports. In all reality all you would need is an open center valve with as many opt puts that you require. You would have an in port and an out port to plug in to your b-hoe circuit. The tractor will have the relief valve for over load protection. If you wanted to spend the money you could get a valve that has a relief for shock load but is probably not necessary.

This isn't anything new. The old timers were always putting a quart of ATF in the tanks,, I used in my rigs and still use in my Dodge Cummins and Kubota, "Howes Lubricant".. Several times over the years at various truck stops, old timers would always yell, why buy Howes when you can get a quart of ATF for pennies...
