I,ve got a 99 silverado and a 02 subruban both make a kind of clunking noise from the rear end area when you put them in gear, ujoints are fine. Was wonderin if anyone else has had this problem and what they found out, ie just gear play, spring wrap up, just anything youv'e found out.

I'll have to get one out and try to get it to screw up. We've sold many of these and have had no problems that i've heard from customers. The reverse hanging is just gear binding, hold light brake pressure while going in reverse and the hold it tight, maybe that will take the pressure off the gear. Or maybe the hydro isn't going all the way to neutral.

I was originally looking at the Dingo tracked type units, but thought I could get alot more out of a tractor over the long haul. You are limited by the lift height on the dingo's as well. Seemed like Gehl's version of a mini skidster was pretty interesting. I also like the ASV loaders, but again I think I prefer a tractor to these. I would also like a unit that my wife could use on our property should she feel inclined.

I did not consider a New Holland, but will check into the Supersteer, thank you for the suggestion!

I did some price checking and found some very good pricing on the ck20. Locally I can get one with a loader for 13,500, but if I go to the next state over I can get it for 12,500 with no sales tax. I value dealer support so if I go this route it will be a tough decision. It seems like a good price considering a B7800 would cost me over 16,000 locally and with the exception of the larger engine the ck20 seems to me a superior machine. Art may disagree :-) It certainly seems the ck20 is the equal of the 7800 as far as lift capacity goes, added weight, and some nice options like position control that would force me into the B3030 or L series which takes me into the $18,000 plus range.

I have had the same problem with my 4710, after speaking with my dealer (Giroux Bros) in NY, Matt McClain the head service manager informed me that JD knows about this problem and can provide a weld on kit. Once welded on the tractor and painted you hardly even notice it. If its not to severe you can loosen the post attached to the tractor and rotate it slighty to the front tire, if this deos not work you will have to install the kit. I hope this helps

Payne makes a set of Logger's Forks that attach to most standard FEL buckets. Not sure if this is what you had in mind. For some reason the system rejects the link to Paynes Forks so here is the link:

I saw the ice story here in Maine on our local news.
I believe each trucker is getting $800.00 per day to sit at the ice storage house in Portland. They said they(fema) was
going to keep them there to be ready for the next emergency.
How long does a bag of ice last in 98 degrees? They should give the people the money to move up on higher ground.
They act like that will be the last storm?

From what I have heard, the dealers in NH don't seem to deal very much. You might be able to come to CT or MA and pay sales tax (maybe showing your drivers license would negate that) and still get a better deal. Of course, you would still have to use your local dealer for service. Also, make sure you get the 200CX loader, as the 200X is not quick-tach.<br>

i have a 3130 GST w/ 513 loader love that machine. i paid 18,500 for it in missouri but if your planning to spend any real time on the tractor go with the 3130 it is so much more user friendly than the 3030.

I feel the 7308 loader is very easy to mount and dismount. It isn't unusual for me to have the loader on and off my TC33D more than once a day. Actually the only time I leave the FEL on is during the winter when I will be needing the tractor for moving snow. The worse problem I encounter is connecting the hydraulic hoses. Most of the time I do not have any trouble with the tractor engine running, however, (heck, I never have taken the time to figure out why)occasionally I have to stop the tractor engine and cycle the loader controls to successfully connect the hoses.

If you are buying from an owner; you can figure on 10% to 25% less depending upon condition and hours. 3,000 hours is not bad and still has a lot of life left if well cared for. Dealer prices in some cases can really run up the price of used equipment. Makes for a BIG difference between trade in value paid vs. dealer lot asking price.

I strongly agree with Gypsy about 4WD if you get a FEL. I will say that A/C sure is nice when baling hay or bush hogging for hours on end. Also minimizes the amount of dust and plant debry you breath in as well.

I have the Land Pride LR1584 landscaping rake which weighs about 300 lbs. (291 lbs. according to the LP manual). These rakes are about as heavy duty built as I have seen of any brand. They also have the added advantage of optional gauge wheels and a flip down grader blade. They are a good bit pricier. For commercial and heavy duty use the price may be justified. For occasional use, you can probably get by with a much cheaper model.

I had one on my old 1700. It was a PITA to take off/on, but can be done in about an hour. I nudged the edge of the bucket against a strudy tree that I had a strong rope with a loop tied around it about 8' up. I put the hooks of a chain into the top edge of the loader arm, then hooked a comealong to the chain and the loop around the tree. Unbolted everything, hoisted the loader up off it's bases, backed the tractor clear, then lowered the loader arms onto cinder blocks. Not exactly QD, but it works.
