I think you will be hard pressed to spend 20% of your initial savings maintaining a Chinese tractor for many years. The problem is not design, it is lack of QC. as a dealer/importer we do our best to catch as many deficiencies as possible and if we miss one it will show up fairly soon in use. The most important thing is to know who can call for help ie, who who chose ot buy from. I think my statement was accurate as it was stated and does not call for editing by members without first hand ownership experience, but thanks for your effort.

I know a 2210 with smaller 4'boxblade will handle your drive for I have done some amazing things with mine. Also, the unit will easily take care of 3-4 acres, but the thing I would ask is "what further do you want out of the machine"? Reason for asking, when you have a strong need to really exercise rear three point attachments, then I would encourage you to look higher, because the 2210 does not have a position control value and running a rotary cutter, 4' will consume tons of time in big areas.

This is a follow-up on my previous message. Our problem was that the gear shifter was stuck so fast in reverse that the operator bent a part of the control linkage trying to get it out. I'm not sure if he tried to shut the engine off or apply the parking brake. The operator did seem nervous when he reported the situation. I doubt he'll try to "force" the shifter into or out of gear again.

Since the linkage was bent, we had to take the cover off the top of the transmission where the shifting linkage enters the transmission. We found where one of the forks had been bent, straightened it and put the machine back together. It works as good as it did before. It does not work freely or without protest.

My concern still hovers over this situation... that a machine that costs ten grand could have a problem switching gears at a standstill is, I think, something that Kubota should fix. Its an RTV, thus it should be expected to be used on inclines quite often. Why build a machine that doesn't want to switch gears when its placed in an environment for which it was intended?

It is a good machine. We use it consistently. It gives no other problems and is worth owning. But for what we paid, i think Kubota has further to go in fixing this issue.

The Deere LR1060l retails for about $495.00. I consider this to be light duty and build for sub-compacts and lower powered CUT's. This is without the leveling/gauge wheels. When you go to Deere's other units they are a minimum of 72" and usually retail for about $800.00.

Landpride sells some good units that retail for about $700.00. I found a used 72" Landpride for $400.00 with a few bent tines. I didn't buy it at the time and was reconsidering it but someone else bought it.

I find the KK at Tractor Supply to be the best value for about $425.00+ but with a terrible paint job.

That's exactly what I was thinking, as the top of the rh (while sitting on the tractor) side of the bucket has a divet in it, looking exactly as you described.

It's not bad enough that I cant live with it, I'm mostly concerned about the effect when pushing snow. My driveways are all paved, and a little more down pressure will straighten it out. Just beeing a little anal I guess.

I'll talk to my JD shop and see what they recommend, also talk to my welding shop.

If manuverability is an issue in back yards have you considered a NH with supersteer? Also in really tight residential yards some contractors have gone to something like a Dingo or Ramrod. I purchased my JD955 from contractor that had decided to make the switch.

Great setup, drop the cab, get the 542 and 4x4 with the power reverser, You'll be happier with that than sittin in a "cab" in texas, enjoy the sun, heavier loaders make better friends.

Thanks for all the responses, I failed to do my homework up front and contracted with a not so knowledgable dealer but most of customers I spoke with said there service and repair work was good. I've decided to buy the TC30 hydro 4x4 with mech. cruise, TC29 seat, 7308 FEL, R4 tires with fluid in the rears, 72" box blade and finishing mower. Total package is $18,800 which includes NH insurance and a service manual on CD. The dealer is located in Henderson, TN, they made me feel as if I got a good deal. I'll post me thoughts after I've put a few hours on it.

Great idea Beagle, but don't you think that Rummy and company should have planned this before not after the fact. Now it is a bit like the big tough kid on your block showing up on your door step with a shovel and telling you he has removed the dangerous snow from your walk and then demanding payment.

One of the things I must constantly remind myself is not everyone thinks along the same lines as I do. Like most members of this board, if I want a better life, I'm going to make a plan and then go after it. Be it more technical training, a better job, a degree or advanced degree, etc. It seems obvious to us. However, it's not obvious to everyone. Nor is every person out there willing to put in the effort to get ahead.

I rememebr when my dad told me over the phone "Sorry son, we're broke." So there I sat, middle of the college semester owing the university about $2k and no financial help coming in from the parents anymore. I made it happen through extra jobs, hard work, less sleep, etc. But that's not obvious to everyone. That's the hard part to keep in mind.

Given that situation, plenty of people would have dropped out with the "pity me" excuse and never finished. One of the biggest lessons I learned from finishing up school pretty much on my own was there is plenty of help out there...if you aren't an unmarried childless white male. But the key is you have to want to seek that out. You have to step up to the plate and make it happen. Seems obvious to me and many others. But it's not obvious to so many or they just don't want to put forth the effort.

I can be poor for 4 years and work my butt off. at the end of the 4 years I can be making $35k depending on career choise. Or I can take the easy road and make $8/hr working at McDonalds. After 4 years, I might be a shift supervisor making whatever that pay is, but probably less than $35k/year. Over the long haul, the time spent in school earning a degree or learning a trade will pay out more. Seems like an obvious choice, but it's not. You have to want it enough to actually do it.

I remember when Wisconsin changed it's welfare rules. The left screamed about people starving in the streets and mass homelessness. That didn't happen. People picked up and moved back to Chicago once their welfare benefits ran out in Wisconsin.

There are many different ways to look at this. Many of these people view the welfare check as an entitlement. I'm entitled to it for existing so where's MY money? Give my check, whitey. Instead of taking advantage of all the scholarship and education programs created to offset and correct the wrongs of racism, they feel they are entitled to collect a check for just existing. They come from a compact slum where everyone is out for themselves. Anyone trying to help is just a sucker to be taken advantage of. Different lifestyle and one I and many others don't understand, but then these people don't understand our lifestyles. It works both ways.

My point in rambling on is there are different sides and I must constantly remind myself of this. I have to do that in my job. What seems obvious to me doesn't get through others. When I visited a warehouse, I was trying to make changes and improvements. We need the people to do their jobs correctly. Seems obvious? Wrong. Some people just don't care, they are putting in the time necessary collect the check. It's a foreign attitude for me. But I must remind myself that it exists and it's what I have to work with.

It's easy to bash the people of NEw Orleans and I've doneit myself. Is it embarrassing for those images to br broadcast across the world? Yes. But we have very different groups of people in the US just like everywhere else. Germany and France have those working to get ahead. But they also have those that take advantage of a very generous welfare system. So why work hard when I can live good enough for me by collecting a check from the state? "Where's my check?" Really no different from the US.
