I too hope all those people in a city that's already below water level are Ok.

Meanwhile I hope it drops as much water as possible in the Mississippi and Ohio River Valleys.

It's due to be here in the Toronto area about dinner time on Wednesday. They are already saying we could get 4" of rain in the few hours it takes to pass.

Thanks, I was asking anyone! I'm kind of new to these forums,I am looking for a grapple to handle slash and logs.I want the grapple Rake sturdy enough that I won't break it with my GL4630, but I don't want it so heavy that I can't pick up anything. kind of a trade off. Ron

OOOOOH A DEALER! Perhaps if you took some time to learn about your product line we farmers would be able to make better informed choices in the products we buy. I have attached their company link. They are actually owned by a venture capital company out of Europe called 3i. Some of Canada is french speaking...I don't know what that has to do with ALO except they have factories in FRANCE!

I am considering an Anbo Grapple Rake for My GL4630 with Kubota Quick attach loader but am not sure whether to go with the 6 ft GRL with 36 " open size weighing 440 lbs or the dealer recommended 5 1/2 ft with 51" open size weighting 720 lbs I want to use it for piling slash from logging firewood. Any one used one of these? no dealers in my area. thanks, Ron

I spent the money to put a frame mounted backhoe on my NH tractor and I have never regretted it. My back still gets sore occasionally, but the backhoe does the heavy work.

I also have a front end loader and I use it all the time.

Since you have already acquired it, you can check it yourself. Put the PTO in gear. Put the tractor in gear and drive forward. Step on the clutch and stop the tractor. If the PTO stops, it is connected to the rear wheel drivetrain. If it keeps running, then it is a live PTO.

The only time that I can think of when this is a problem is when using a rotary brush cutter. Most tractors had non-live PTOs decades ago. You can also use an over-running clutch if the PTO is not live. This clutch goes into the PTO driveline and slips when the tractor is stopped to keep the inertia of a rotary brush cutter from pushing the tractor forward through its connection to the wheel drivetrain.

I agree about Fram being one of the worst oil filters. They are probably OK when new, but they tend to fill up quickly and bypass dirty oil. They also use a cardboard endcap on the filter element instead of metal like most other filter manufacturers.

I prefer WIX filters. NAPA auto parts sells WIX filters as their Gold line of filters. I have switched over to using the NAPA filters and I am very happy with them on my NH tractor. Purolator makes some good filters if you can even find them but I prefer the WIX construction. Purolator ties a string around the element during manufacture and I don't like the idea of that string touching the filter media and possibly wearing a hole in it, but I have never heard of this being a problem with Purolator.

OEM filters are generally pretty good. Avoid Fram and most of the in-house brand filters that are discount priced. Don't extend the time on filter replacement even if you extend your oil change interval with synthetic oil.

That's what pissed me off. The sales guy comes out with a $2800 price for the MX6. Says "do you really want to pay a $1800 dollar difference". That told me he didn't want to work with me anymore so I left. Way more cash than even the JD configurator has it at and that's with safety chains.........

I guess I don't see the connection of using top quality implements commerically when it comes to something like brushhogs and other "disposable" implements like a box rake.
For example and friend and competitor and I do final grades with nearly identical machines only he uses a Ford/New Holland box scraper. I use a King Kutter. Mine cuts and fuills just as well as his. My side plates are just as worn out as his are.
If he paid double what I paid for a piece of equipment to do the same job and it has the same life, he loses twice the money for the same job. Same thing applies to when I used to buy all DeWalt, and other name brand power tools. After three break-ins in 3 years totalling more than $40,000 in stolen tools and equipment I started seeing a pattern. When I repalced some of the name brand tools with Ryobi and others---they wouldn't steal them. So now nearly all my tools are Ryobi--or at least the ones I use a on job away from from home. And Ryobi isn't that bad a of tool either but apparently thieves don't know that.

I'm not sure where possible pressure could be coming from other than the breather. Have you simply tightened the oil pan fasteners? I have a full TC33D Service Manual and guess what! It has your tractor listed first! What do want to know and I'll see what I can look up. Doesn't have labor times though.

Before you ask, I looked up Oil Sump Removal and all they
show is the engine out of the tractor and upside down.

Again, this could be just loose oil pan bolts but...
What happens if you remove the dip stick or oil filler cap while it is running (when cold only)? Do you get oily vapor coming from it? How about when the eninge is running is there vapor from the breather? If so it might be a broken piston ring (I had one and my buddy has one on our NH skid steers)

I wish I could remember what I saw a farmer use when I was a kid. He had just some sort of piece of thick metal with a lifting eye on it. It fit over the profile of the post and as you pulled up it held the post tight. It work similar to the way a sheet metal lifter does...if you have seen one of those. Wish I could help more.
