I use the NAPA Gold 1056 oil filter. WIX filter number is 51056, so I am pretty sure that this filter is of WIX manufacture. This is a very high quality filter. It will fit most of the New Holland TC series from what I remember.

My philosopy on oil filters and oil is to use the best available.

Yep I know all about skip. I used to operate a Sideband CB and shoot skip across the ionosphere, sometime even reaching australia if I was in the right spot. The thing is, in my house my kids clock radio in his room in the basement can pick up WLS better than my truck can. I believe their tower is somewhere near I80. They pump out 50,000 watts as well. In my Vic I have no problems getting them except when I drive past this one hospital everyday where the 3 phase overhead power lines drown out AM totally. I recall driving to PA last month and recieving WLS all the way across Indiana and a small part of Ohio on a Sunday morning. Could not do that with the F350 though.

Maybe this will help. All oils (except Amsoil) conform to known testing standards.

Read your manual. It will tell you to use something like CD or CF rated oil. Then read the label on the oil and make sure it meets that standard.

Last year, Deere brought out their own full synthetic diesel rated motor oil. When they brought it to the market they told us we could double the change interval from 100 to 200 hours and still maintain warranty coverage.

If a very conservative outfit like Deere says that then you gotta know that synthetics are the best thing out there.

Some years ago there was a feature article in one of the outdoor magazines about a guy who guided/hunted mountain lion in Colorado.

He had a pack of hounds that could track and tree the big cats but they would occasionally get their lunch eaten by a lion that turned on them instead of running.

So he added an Airedale Terrier to the pack and ended that problem.

You are exactly right, as a homeowners 'recreational' machine they are right up there near, if not at the top, of the list of big power toys, errr, tools, I mean TOOLS. LOL.

In certian situations, my own for instance, they also make exceptional 'commercial' machines.

However, like the Swiss Army Knife they are, they can do lot of things, but they are hardly the best choice for some of them.

In a commerical situation, speed and performance are critical. In most cases the biggest share of the expense goes to labour, and saving it, or wasting it, can make or break a job or even a business very quickly.

When time is of no consequence in the equation it changes all that.

BTW, there is NOTHING lowly about a BX2230, they are very solid little machines, capable of doing a great amount of work. A fellow near me makes a pretty good living with a BX23 TLB, he installs head-stones and stuff like that. He can get it into places nothing else can, and barely disturbs anything doing it.

If they have any cement on them, the 4110 probably won't do it, 3-pt or bucket. With a cement ball at the bottom, any root nest that grew above the cment ball makes removal pretty drarn tough. We pulled about 150 cemented posts last year with a 30 ton ram on a T-frame. We used a 2" cable clamp above the T-Frame and jacked them out of the ground. We tried a JCB 210, and it wouldn't touch them either. If they were concreted, it can take a lot of jacking depending on the soil and the amount of growth in the area, and how long they have been in the ground.

Tee posts are a different story. Tee post pullers are around $35 bucks in Northern Tool or Harbor Freight, or Agri-Supply. TSC may even carry them.

Thank you, gents. These comments have been enlightening and I appreciate your good counsel. I found a fabricator who's rebuilt the A-frame for my old rotary cutter at a very reasonable price. So that machine is back online. (My next questions will be about getting the blades off that thing for sharpening, and about the leaky seal on the rear end/hydraulic resevoir of my Ford tractor.)

I've driven the price on the 6 foot NH finish deck down now, to a figure I think I can justify. I will take a chance on that implement, too, and see if it makes my life easier or more difficult. If it's a bust, I guess I'll try to sell it here, right? Will let you know how it works out.

IMHO, your BX has more plenty horse power to run the aforementioned mower.

You might want to put a few bricks in the FEL of that short-coupled little beast for counter ballast. My BX got real light on the front end just pulling a drag harrow to smooth the driveway.

No idea, but what I do know is that they are a bit crazy on the price for these thingy's (LOL) With the price of fuel and cost of living going the way it is (around here anyway) Taxes and such) 30K for a toy to play with is a bit spendy. I am not impressed with the price. That nasty word geihl (ME BAD) must look real good to many folks out there after pricing a NH.

yes that is what I was asking about. The rear wheels keep sliding in and tire is rubbing the fender and ruining the tire. You said there is a pin you have to put in to a hole in the rear axle shaft. The wheel has to be turned to line up with this hole and then you can tighten it down right!!

Here's another disadvantage. Generally speaking goosenecks are for BIGer stuff and need a bigger vehicle to tow them - read "costs more money", also at fuel approaching $3.00 a gal, I would rather have a tiny bumper hitch pulling a single axle toy from HD that cost $300. Oh and plus $85 for the bumper hitch, but then again I am a minimizer prefering to sock it away for retirement / college etc.

Whereas it's moisture related, you won't break the clutch free with a flush of anything. Most likely it's rusted to the flywheel, but all is not lost. Sometimes you can break it free by engaging the PTO and then rotating the spline. Or rotate the crank from the pulley end (compression release open or ignition off). Or the good old fashioned pull start (in gear).

My B2410 has issues loading my F350 Dually. It clears the bed rails easily enough, but the reach into the box is limited, I have to load from both sides since it doesnt reach the middle of the bed. When I lower the bucket, the hinge point touches the rail. The B2410 is larger than the BX23.

Can the BX23 load a 3 4 ton pickup

Also keep in mind that many of the parts on any tractor or car or truck are made by third parties for aftermarket repairs and such. If there is a demand for a part, a company will keep making them, if not, they go byebye. Since tractors have many unusual parts unlike cars and trucks, aftermarket parts are much harder to obtain, and most are factory only. It really doesnt make sense for a manufacturer to continue to stock parts on older machines if they just sit there. Its all in supply and demand. Eventually there will be an aftermarket jobber that may pick up a part or two to manufacture, but dont count on it.
