Can't afford more than $1100-$2000, and need the front blade on my tractor. Current plan: rent a rotary cutter to get started; buy and mount the finishing deck; identify a skilled welder-fabricator to repair the disassembled parts of my present, broken, 5' rotary cutter (over however many months) so I'll have both machines on hand. Leaning toward used New Holland because of cost. All advice very welcome!

As was already alluded to here, the biggest factor in determining the success of a dug pond is NOT the soil type, but rather the level and quantity of water supply.

In the course of our work we dig and create a LOT of ponds.

In my own yard as an example, I have a small dug pond, it is about 50' round(ish) and about 12' deep in the deepest part (see lower right corner my picture # 1), but it is dug in pure clean sand. In this case the lack of a liner doesn't matter, the water level is the water table in that area. I even pump huge quanities of water from it on a regular basis, the level doesn't move an inch.

Test pits only tell you half the story. Find what if any water supply you have available and how plentiful it is.

I had the same question when I was doing the 50 hour service on my L3830. I had to call three dealers before I received a realistic answer.(Someone finally went and looked at another tractor.) I could see three plugs - the main plug in the rear and one in each final drive. The other was a plug that utlizes an allen (hex) wrench. After I went through all the calls and questions there wasn't any fluid left where the hex plug was located.

Out the exhaust? You must have an exhaust valve hanging open.

Does this model have a compression release to help start it?

All in all it was worth the wait. I continued to make payments on the old one which added more to the trade-in. My trade-in was $19,000 and the dealer didn't charge me for the extra 80 or so hours I put on it waiting for the new opne (so it was using it for free). The new one is only $20 more a month after it was all said and done The new one starts/stops a lot faster and is much more guiet.

I am a bit confused by your statement. I know WWII history quite well, it was a very bloody war and yes I know the Japs fought with everything they had, including suicide. I made no mention regarding the actual war itself, just what we did as americans once it was all over. That was then, this is now. I can tell you that we have way too many wimps and do-gooders now to make a stand against the terrorists like we did against the japs and germans. And you are both right, we need to take it to them much harder than we are currently doing, and I am also afraid that another attack is forthcoming, and rightously so. Greetings Brokenarrow,
I wish she had done that. I checked the fuel by dumping it out and it was white not that blue/ gray (nice southern color). Besides she actually likes to run the weedeater. When she doesnt my son will gladly do it for the extra cash.
She is the Boss and thats fine by me. Its a two way street. Thats the only way we could be together for 22years and married for 19. I did tell her to use the red can not the red plastic can. Like I said.. it was my fault but its the way it goes and in the grand scheme of things .. stuff happens.

taheide, same here in Iowa. I was getting ready to start to water the small trees when the rain finally showed up. Heat wave broke as well. We were getting a good soaking rain this morning. It's about time. My wife tried to plant flowers on Tuesday, but the ground was so dry it was almost like trying to dig through cement.

Must be another guy who works at a NH factory---my bad.

Anywho, I paid a little over $30,700. The tracks were bought separately on e-bay for $1200. The hydraulic quick attach saves soooo much time--and my back--from jumping in and out the cab to throw the levers. I got $19,000 for trade in on my '03 LS180.
