Woohoo! Congrats!
I fire-bombed a gopher tunnel on Saturday with about 2 gallons of 6 year old gas that I had around. Seemed like a good idea.

Wife also looked at me funny last week when I was driving around the yard carrying the .22 rifle while mowing. But a chipmunk had run into his hole before I got there with the tractor (a mouse wasn't so lucky). So I got the rifle. When I came back, he stupidly was standing up and looking around. I didn't find a body, but I haven't seem him again either.

My male lab tore his ACL about 4 years ago. It only cost me $900 for the surgery on it at the animal hospital at Iowa State U. I also footed the bill for 2 one week rehab sessions there as well. I have a picture of him in a doggy life jacket in a swimmer's endless training pool. They had him swim to strengthen the leg without the load of walking or running.

I'd spend money on my dogs. Until my kid showed up in May, they were my kids. Sure they've chewed the couches, ate the toilet plunger, etc. But they don't projectile vomit on my like the baby does.

As for the other discussion, I do spend money a tad more than I should. But my 401K is at it's max contribution, I have some IRA's and the only debt we have is the tractor (at 0%), one vehicle (due to the baby arrival) and the house. We don't eat out that often and don't try to keep up with the Jones's. My personal computer was bought in 2000. I drive a 5 year old pickup with 132,000 miles.

If we want something, we save up for it and pay cash. Although I did buy that big TV using credit. But they gave me 6 months same as cash. So I paid it off in 4 months. Didn't cost me any interest and I didn't tap savings.

People do need to do a better job of managing their money. I know many people that live very well, but couldn't handle any major emergencies because they are maxed out. Sad...

'Arrow: No, I never pulled the trigger on one. With the latest aquisition of the acreage, I'm thinking the 185s 3-wheeler a co-worker has for $350 is more in my price bracket. Eventually, though, I will do something like that, +/-400cc - 4wd - IRS.

I know very little about horses and am interested in knowing about them eating grass. I was told that the amount of grain given to them needs to be controlled otherwise they get a hoof disease. Does too much green grass give them blooting from gas?

the seats in my F350 are very comfortable. Drove from Virginia to Kentucky non stop and felt just fine when I got there. OTOH if it was my 01 F150, I wouldnt, the seats are just not as comfortable, but they are much more comfortable than the Chevys. The seats in my CV Sport are very comfortable, drove non stop from New Jersey to IL and never had a problem, cant say the same for the seats in an Olds Allero! Those are like sitting on bricks, a 40 minute drive and I could hardly stand up straight my back hurt so bad, and I have heard the same for a bunch of other GM seats. Its not just the F150 that has bad seats, there are quite a few manufactureres that have poor seating. Of course the bigger the truck the better the seats :) and the higher the price :(.

The cold air intake systems arent as much about air flow as they are air density. Cold air is more dense than hot air. Denser air = more power. My experience with oil filters verses paper element is that you wont see any performance benefits with just the addition of a less restrictive filter. You may see some tiny benefits from adding a cold air intake and a little more if you add a less restrictive exhaust.
As was said above, the K&N type filters dont seem to filter as well as a new paper filter but Im undecided if it really makes a difference to the engine if there are almost microscopic dirt particals being ingested. It could be said that these small particles stick to the sides of the cylinders and cause wear over time. I think they just pass right through the engine. What doesnt pass through the engine gets caught in the oil and filtered and flushed when you change the oil.

After reading the advice from my prior post, I have decided to go new. Has anyone had a "dealer" experience with the folks in Middletown Ct or anywhere else in CT. The long term relationship seems to outweigh price issues. The other alternative is to go to Chappel Tractor in NH and buy a new unit with no tax. This would save $800.00 from the start.

Yes, the rear end of an Off-Road equiped pickup will be a little higher than normal.

I have a Dodge Ram 2500 without any Off-Road option and the bed rails are higher than the rails on the standard 1/2 ton Ram, which my cousin owns.

Can the BX23 load a 3 4 ton pickup

Art, they did, then in the late 80's after the water quality had improved they spent a bunch of money re-stocking them with fingerlings.

I would do some good measuring first to ensure the least amount of fabrication possible. The price is right but I'd think you also would need a wider bucket to cover the wheel tracks.

To go a little further, the first parts to go are the non-wearing parts like rear axle housings, transmission cases or the attaching parts for those pieces. Why, because they may go 10 or 15 or even 20 years with no call for them! The same as the big tractors or cars! Could they build them again? Sure and I believe they would if the demand was there or they would be built like many other older tractor parts in China, India or another third world country. Several years ago the Ford dealers couldn't get parts for the english built Fordsons. Many of the parts started coming in from other sources that could stand to build only 15 to 20 individual parts a year to supply the demand. The US has more older tractors then most any other country. You probably didn't know this but Europe has far tighter controls on emissions then we do here and they also check for lights and leaks and many of these tractors are exported to third world countries including the US as the costs to keep many up in shape after 4000 or 5000 hours is to high. This has pushed their demand so high that there are more 60 to 130 horsepower tractors sold there then anywhere else and they only keep them about 10 years maximum.

I was doing 50 hr service on my Kubota and could only find 3 transmission drain plugs. One where the main transmission seems to be in midline and 2 at the rear wheels. The manual shows 4, but I'll be darned if I can find it. Help anyone-much appreciated.

If you're handy and not afriad of ladders, or are well insured, LOL, it's an easy thing to do yourself.

The zinc sheet metal should be available at any good roofing supply place. It only takes a minute to do it.

Even if all you do is put up the metal strip, it will eventually (a year?) kill what's there and stop it from getting any worse. The dead stuff will just wash away after a few snows.

We built an automatic adjustable drain valve for a pond that was subject to huge volumes of incoming rain water during storm season.

It was basically a telscopic section of tube that went over the stand-pipe, a pivoting lever mechanism actuated the sliding section, at the outboard end of the lever was float. When the water level rose it moved the float end of the pivoting lever up, which caused the sliding section of stand-pipe to lower, thus allowing more water to drain faster. As the water level came down, the float did too, causing the slide to come back up to the normal position.

In that case they were afraid that if the pond wasn't drained fast enough it would top it's banks. In a worst case that could cause a bank to collapse, but at the least it would flood the course and close it till it could be dried out.

What you see on the highways is expensive. We have one that will throw hay 50+ feet, BUT that depends on the wind and the feed rate.

Farmers use a bedding chopper. It's a lot smaller but it chops up the bales and has a blower. These will blow hay 10'. I see them at auctions smoetimes for as little as $100, they might need some work.

Does anyone know if a kubota B2400 hyrostatic with an<br>

where is it? I have the parts and service manual and<br>
it is confusing. It shows a regulator with the alternator,<br>
but I cant tell if the AC dynamo has one.<br>
