I have often found running an ad in the local paper detailing the problem and solutions given are cheaper and more effective than legal action.

What part is it down for? Do you have part numbers? What city is this dealer in?

I keep forgetting about those volcanos. The rain is a bigger nuisance, at least until the big one erupts. Glad I live a few hundred miles from Rainier, that's supposed to be the next big one in these parts. As long as St. Helens keeps seeping lava it's not building up pressure. I think. Maybe I'll stock up on canned goods.

Thanks for the info. I will check that out, but the
tractor was bought new by me so all the wiring is
original and it just started doing this this year
after I blew one slow blow fuse. I am not sure if the
red means a lack of charge or too much charge. Any
ideas?

I have had many of these ground nests and found the best
way to really get rid of them is kerosine in a small
sprayer. You may or may not want to use kerosine in the
area you discuss, that I cant tell you. I have done this
and then followed up by removing the soil with my FEL
and bringing back uncontaminated soil to fill it in.
As I said, it will work in situations where nothing else
does, but it is not good for the soil. You have to weigh
that into the equation. I have already had to knock out
a 12 inch balsam stump(removed the top with a chain saw)
with my bulldozer as these nest can go quite deep.

Glad to see you decide on the case dx 33. Awsome tractor. Get the mmm mower mine cuts anything including tall fields with ease. I spent months researching everything out there before I bought my tractor even had a kubota B3030 ordered and canceled it. Just could not get over how much I liked the NH/Case tractors and I could not be happier. Good luck to you

For the things you will be doing either the L3130 or the
L3430 Kubota with Hydrostatic will handle it. I chose
the L3430 because it was the smallest one you could
get a cab with. You might consider getting someone
in with a small bulldozer before going in with the
tractor. I am not sure what you mean by heavy brush,
but where I live(N.Wisconsin)heavy brush means use of
a small dozer to remove the big stuff. Then you can go
in with your tractor and FEL,backblade, or brushhog to
move or chop up what is left. If hiring someone for a
day is needed to do some dozer work, it will be well
worth the days expense in reduced wear and tear on a
small tractor, even though these Kubotas are tough.

My L3430 came standard with a joystick etc.
I use a 62 inch front snowblower in the winter
and have a Rhino loader that I put on in the
summer. Not sure what you mean by not coming
standard. I did not have to ask for it.
I should add I have a L3430 with hydrostatic and cab.
I guess it is debatable as to if the cab was optional.
It wasnt for me. They showed one with a cab and I
told the guy-that is what I want.

Go to machinerylink dot com, click on tools & resources, click on used tractor price guide. They have serial number lookup that will help narrow it down. I think your B is a 1944 or so and the CA is a 1957 best I can figure.

For the 20 minutes it takes me to sharpen my blades,
it is worth it. I do not get a finish type cut if
I dont touch them up. I guess it is up to the individual,
but I have always said do what works. This works for
me and gives me the cut I want. I probably only use
one sharpening disc per year, as sharpening each time
reduces the time and amount of metal to sharpen.
I dont think there is a right or wrong way as long
as you are getting the result you want and I do.

I have always wondered about this: Why do we seal driveways when I have never seen a highway department doing it? Sure they seal carcks with the rubberized compound but they never seem to put down the huge coat of black "paint". What's the difference?

Common complaint. Gaskets on the Chinese tractors I've owned are poor at best. They're wafer thin cork, seemingly decomposing on brand new tractors. I buy bulk composite gasket material from NAPA and cut my own replacements. Also, banjo fittings are generally not torqued properly - many leak due to damaged/missing/malformed banjo washers.

Next time a bird gets in your house - turn off all the lights, close all the window shades; in other words, make the house as dark as possible; then, open a door. The bird will make right for the light and fly out of your house, works everytime, if its daytime that is.

I was talking to an old fella up the road today while I was at the Post Office, I asked him if he had any remedies for wasps or hornets.

Sure enough, he said the easiest way to get them was with spray foam insulation. Wait till well past dark when they're all inside and dormant, then stick the little tube in the nest and give them a good blast.

They're sealed in, guaranteed.

If there's a second entrance it will become evident next day, next night repeat the spraying in the next hole.

The best part he claims is later in the year you can just use a garden fork and dig out the hardened foam and toss it in the garbage.

What did I ever do for conversation and ideas when I lived in the city and had mail dropped in my door?

I am not exactly sure what your AC tech is talking about. There is no chemical that you can apply to your heat exchanger that will make it work better other than cleaners or water. If it is loaded with dust, then this might be called for, otherwise it is not necessary.

The best heat exchange occurs when there is little/no dirt and dust on the heat exchanger fins. Sometimes the type of heat exchanger that you describe is called a "pin fin". They are quite efficient. One downside is that they are extremely fragile. With a plate fin exchanger, you can use a comb type device to straighten the fins, but with a pin fin unit the distribution is somewhat random and if you smash any of them getting the housing off, you will affect airflow and efficiency. My gut feeling is that there is more chance of damaging some fins on a unit that has to be disassembled than efficiency gains that you might achieve.

If the AC unit was properly sized and working at one time, then Freon loss is a more likely culprit. Twenty year old units often still work very well. Is there any place on the AC plumbing that looks oily? When freon leaks it often carries lubricating oil with it. There is nothing in an AC system that should be oily. The AC tech can use a sniffer to detect a freon leak and fix it or he can get paid to put in more freon every year or two.
