Being the gentleman I am, I was staying out of this especially since I am just a low bottom feeding tool maker.
Many of the jobs I see being created are not able to pay the employee enough to allow them to pay for top of the line merchandise. Not ALL the jobs, but many of them. Many of us who make 60K and more a year may have forgot what it was like to sustain yourself on a lower paying job.
My wife and I do just fine (esp. since I went back to work LOL) but I still need to be frugal on what I buy and how much it costs. I watch the show "what not to wear" and my bride and I are just floored at what the east coast folks are willing AND ABLE to pay for clothing! Problem being that in this society we have created, unless there are two people working full time at decent occupations, to raise a family and ACTUALLY pay your bills is very hard, especially if you want to buy a quality product instead of one that is cheaply priced and cheaply made. I am guilty of buying cheap products, not all the time but on items that are short term or items that I would not expect to keep for a life time. Giving credit to some of the foriegn country's though, many clothing items have come a long way and are actually holding up way better than 10 years ago.
Its a double edged sword. If your not paid enough money to comfortably buy the product your company makes, how can a company cry about not having enough sales in this country?

Can anyone tell me if this is a fair price? For the following package: Kubota L4400R (2wd),LA703 loader with 72" bucket, 6' Bush Hog Squealer SQ720, and Machio AL 160 64" rotary tiller; I was quoted $21,025 out the door. Is this a good deal?

I pick up my new Kioti CK20HST this Friday and I am bouncing around like a kid at Christmas! I had been leaning strongly toward a Kubota BX23, but the dealer I contacted didn't call me back when he said he would. I then stumbled across a Kioti dealer in Penrose, Colorado and was *very* impressed with the CK20HST. Got to drive it and it was "game over"! Bigger, stronger, gruntier!

I am getting the CK20HST with FEL, backhoe (attaches to subframe), box scraper, blade scraper and PHD. Rear wheels filled with washer fluid, industrial tires and steel hooks welded onto the FEL. The warranty on this tractor is outstanding (24 months, 36 months on engine and drive train).

Dealer is 20 minutes down the road and sell, services and carries parts.

In the shop, the boys have a tool they call Big Johnson.

It is a 3/4" drive breaker bar I bought at a garage sale years ago. The handle is 60" long, and about 1.75" diameter, the guy that sold it to me said he 'acquired' it when working in the mines up north. It has a nifty sring-loaded 'snapper' that works like a torque wrench sort of, you pre-load a spring that works a hammer action weight in the handle, when you pull to a certian point it releases the spring loaded weight and gives the end of the handle a big jolt. It's quite un-nerving the first time you use it. It either breaks the nut loose, or snaps the bolt, usually the first time too.

The bolt has to be pretty stuck to use it though, it's usually more work to get it out, carry it across the shop and use it than to just struggle with the stuck bolt using what's at hand.

Heat sometimes helps too, but usually the penetrating oil and a 5 minute coffe break waiting does the job.

I just bought 100 acres for a future horse farm.Looking for a JD tractor to run a bush-hog,spreader,post-hole digger,snowblower,possible cab etc. I plan on contracting a local farmer to work the hay fields and removing any heavy brush. The local JD dealer recommended the new 4520 with a LDR and bush hog for an estimated 30,000. What do you think?

I have heard numerous stories about Rat Zappers getting triggered and the bait taken without a kill. I am not sure why. A friend of mine improved his kill rate by putting the Rat Zapper on a wet towel so that their feet get wet before entering. <br>

The adult woodrats just fit in a 3" PVC pipe, and in my contraption there are electrodes all around. The electric fence transformer that I use is old and probably more powerful than some of the newer ones that I have seen. Also, it plugs in and produces continuous electrical current after it is switched on. The Rat Zappers shut off to save the battery. I used my fence transformer in California to keep Opossums off of my roof and it would even kill them. A gardner also climbed up on my fence to trim a tree and got into my fence wire but he survived. He was not happy and I doubt that he ever climbed my fence again.

I have had moderate success with the tractor. It now has a litte over 30 hours on it and leaks fluids very badly. I have tried re-tightening the nuts and bolts, replaced the quick disconnects with Pioneer Brand( avery good move), but it continues to leak. Any suggestions.<br>

What is the problem there Randy, shallow dug wells or a clay belt or shale cutting you oof from the deeper aquifers?

I would have thought that area would have plenty of water.

Actually Harvey we had a big chuckle about the contract to begin with. The whole thing has been a first class FUBAR since day one.

Here's the way it worked.

City Parks Mgr. & Works Mgr. decide to split the cost of a fleet of CUT's, they will do parks work all summer, and snow removal all winter. So far so good.

Then, after the fleet arrives, they decide it is counter-productive to trailer them all over the city between sites, so they decide to merely road them between sites. Again, not a bad idea, per se. Except, they now have a fleet of really nice expensive trailers, custom built for the job, that are surplus. They sell, I buy, at a slight discount off what they paid, Ok, BIG discount. I tell them at the time I'm buying the trailers, DO NOT road them in 4WD, nothing good will come of it. They are talking of distances of 15+ miles a DAY on pavement.

Fall comes first year, all machines have bald front tires, hmmmm, Murphy did say to take them out of 4WD before roading them, oh well, live and learn. Phone dealer for a bunch, and I do mean bunch, 14 sets of 212/80D15 full turf style front tires. "They cost how much each???" $250 a pop, $500 a machine times 14 machines, 7 grand.....

Phone regular tire supplier they use for the rest of the vehicles in the fleet. No cheaper, but offers instead to supply them with P215/75R15's for $50 bucks a pop, $100 a machine, now just $1,400 for the whole thing, installed!!!

Done deal. Fleet back out on the streets and doing snow removal around city buildings and in parks, not sidewalks.

Spring comes, front tires are again bald, again tire supplier brings $1,400 worth of tires and installs them. Tire man now likes CUT's a LOT.

During routine maintenance and inspection before grass season starts, mechanic notices slight noise in drive-train when turning cormers and 4wd / 2WD shifter is also VERY hard to operate. He phones dealer to talk to Factory-trained wrench-swinger, bad news, suggests a call to their biggest CUT customer, Mr. Murphy. No good news there either.

Meeting called between City staff, Parks, Works, Fleet & Purchasing and Dealer Staff, Mr. Murphy is there at the request of the dealer.

City Staff didn't read the owners manuals, didn't listen to Dealer, didn't listen to Mr. Murphy. Request for warranty work is refused for entire fleet, each one needs a complete new TX.

City declares entire fleet of CUT's was merely an 'experiment' and while they decide they don't want to own any from now on, they like the concept.

City decides to go forward with the use of CUT's, but under contract, supplied with contractor's own operators and maintenance staff. Price is to include everything BUT tires and fuel.

I just think of it as a 'tax rebate' sort of thing......

My lab ran past a hive this past weekend and got nailed in the rear leg. It bothered her for a couple of days and she had a fever (warm nose) but she is up to taking treats again.

My JD 950 has the JD 75 FEL on it. I think that was the factory model for the 850 also. The local Kubota dealer handles Bush Hog equipment and they make FELs. I am sure there are others also. Try calling you local dealers and see who handles what and if they have one for the 850.

What loader mdls will fit JD 850 4wd

Since DK35 has a gear trans, it prob has no oil cooler.
Besides the possibility of a valve stuck (on relief) as
DK35VINCE mentions, also check:

Low hydro fluid (have a leak?)
dragging brakes (parking brake on?)
pinched hydraulic pressure line

Hi, I'm a novice 'wrencher', and I have a cub 1806 with real strong engine, but the clutch pedal 'sticks' in the down position, and the brakes to not seem to work. I'd like to try to fix this myself, but I am not sure where to start. I do not have a parts manual, but I figure I need to get a hold of one. Any advice on where to start wrenching?
