Run the tractor at about 1200rpm. Engage the 3-point control lever. You should hear the engine load slightly when the lever is engaged. If the engine loads but 3-pt doesn't move, check the control valve under the seat for some flow restriction. If you don't hear any load on the engine, check the linkage and 3-point flow valve to make sure the valve is operating properly. It could be as simple as a linkage pin.

Mike,I'm not familiar with your brand of tractor, but only taking for granted that most any brand would have some internal linkages. Perhaps someone on the board with a tractor similar to yours or a dealer tech who may read of your delema can offer better advice, but if it's only a few bolts holding a cover under the seat I'd have a look. Frank.

Funchy, I was where you were that day when I first moved to where I live now. The neighbors behind me were lasing my horses and causing them to panic. Luckily these were just kids doing so, or there may have been more trouble that I cant speak of. What I did was calmly go back to my house, get my construction laser and telescope, climb up on the barn and lased them right back at the same time telling them on a loud speaker that if this was connected to a rifle the dot on their forehead would be a hole. They ran screaming and when the father came over to bitch I took him out to the horses and asked him if he would like a very large lawsuit if one of my horses were injured, considering that two of them are registered Thoroughbreds with excellent racing history and one is worth several 10's of thousands in breeding, he quickly apologized and I have not had a problem since. In your case, I probably would have shot the bastard and claimed self defense.

Why would you want to take the chance and use a non-spec fluid? It may work......or it may cause some serious damage. Use the correct fluid.

Just crank the steering to the stop and gun it, when the buggy starts dancing, you know where 4wd is :) I love how the Bota can fly in and out of 4WD, makes tight turning while manuvering with a load easier on soft soil.

Hmm Never thought to remove both covers, I just pulled the guard off because of clumping. I have only used it twice this year because of the drought. I havent seen any issues with the deck flexing, but I do agree that the cover rubs, but considering all the trees and bushes by me, I would rather have it rub than have something get snagged in the pulleys or belt and fly off and hit me or break something. I think this fall I may strip it and give it a decent coat of paint.

Thanks alot Dennis for all that info and to ALL others that have helped this "chicken little" out. Right now I have a hose running at full force at what I hope is their entrance. I took my 12 foot painters extension, duct taped the hose to it and walked out there and layed her where I belive the entrance is. It has been running for an hour now and soon I will be turning it off. If I am lucky I will have a good flood down there. I figure I will turn her on every night for an hour or two till the little buggers either vacate or drown. Atleast the new borns that are down there should drown. Tomarrow I will check her out in the daylight and see for sure how close the hose is to the opening. I have more guts during the day than at night and I know that should be reversed but the thought of blindly being slapped by them is worse than knowing it is coming.
I think I need to see a shrink, maybe hypnosis could help me over come this fear.
On a side note though, this weekend I had one of my buddies to my farm/hunting land (LOL) He was one that was behind me when I tilled up a ground hornets nest when I was in the enclosed cab. He is NOT affraid of anything that flies. I told him we should till up that half acre that I have been spraying with round up to prepaire it for next year. LOL, He told me there is NO way this late in the year he will run my tractor doing that! (that makes me feel better) He said if he could see the ground he would do it but since there is still standing dead vegitation and can not tell if any activity is around this field, there is no way he is going to be seat belted to the slow form of a electric chair. I agreed and decided to wait till after the first few frosts this fall.

You should have no trouble with this but your dealer might only stock them with the valve so ask him to order you one that way. Don't forget the grille gaurd.

I, too, strongly considered the Legacy XL last year when I was buying "up". I had good luck with smaller (23 hp)Simplicity lawn tractors and the Dealer was/is very good.

I chose to to move to a sub-compact (JD2210) and have never been sorry. In fact, to my surprise, I bought mine for less than the Simplicity would have cost me equiped the same! And, I got a better trade offer on my old machine (though I sold it outright). My JD dealer has been great and the unit has performed well.

I looked at Kubota and NH as well. All were fine machines with good dealers in my area. If I were you I'd continue to look at Kubota (or JD, NH). I think you'll be more pleased rubbing elbows with the guys who run the really big stuff than having your unit sitting amongst other lawn mowers for waiting for service.

When I was looking I used this site to clear my head. The advice I got here was excellent. Beagle, AV8R, Hardwood, and others offer sound advice I've found.

Hi, I live in Califon next to you. If you are buying at Havers, they are mostly a lawnmower Garden shop. I don't know what kind of Diesel service you can expect from them. Maybe you will be surprised and be happy, they just made me nervous when I was there a couple of times, also they stumbled over pricing and what needed to be on the tractor, of course overcharging, so they were pretty steep on price. <br>

The Powerco Kubota Dealership in Clinton has changed their sales strategy from no negotiation to " what do I need to do to sell". I would try them on a BX or B if were you.<br>

If you want to buy out of state, I bought at Histands Kubota in Doyleston, PA. They have got an excellent shop, long term experience on Diesels, and everything was in A 1 shape for delivery.<br>

I found Deere dealers in this area to be sparse and very pricey.
