Many thanks to all who replied. I have a Kubota, John Deere, New Holland and Mahindra dealer with-in 45 minutes of me so, I have a lot of choices. I guess what I will do is decide on the type of tractor I need along with the attachements I will need and visit each one to see what kind of package deal I can get and of course check out the service departments. Oh, almost forgot. When I was in the Armed Forces many years ago we hauled all of are munitions with Ford Tractors. I was at one site for four years where we had four Ford Tractors, not once did any of these tractors fail to start nor did they ever break down so; did Ford stop making Tractors?

Most tractors have a knob that controls the 3ph rate of drop. If this is turned all the way in one direction the 3ph may appear to stop working. Often this knob is near the floorboard below the seat. Have you checked this?

The bucket on the BX 2200 I owned would only raise about 6' high. If you are going to rent or borrow a dump truck or high trailer you will have a problem. The specs show the loader will lift about 450lbs. but when I tested mine, it lifted 700lbs. Also, since time is money, the smaller machine takes longer to do the job.

That could be part of the problem here..... thinking what you hear on CNN is actually news or totally true. They have about as much credibility as Dan Rather.

The down & dirty way to do it is to make up, or have made up for you, a setup like in my picture # 15.

With some weight on the 3pth, I use a 1,000 pound box blade, and the FEL frame in the air as in the picture, you should have enough traction to plow downhill with no problem, and uphill in light to moderate snows, or heavy but dry snows.

As with your machine, the only weights I have are what is on either the FEL or 3pth.

Will a front Kubota snow plow model G2003 fit a B7200 HST with 4 wheel drive? I just came into this monster machine and don't know much about it, so any help would be appreciated. I'm storing the tractor (long term--as in years), so It'd be great if I could find a smaller plow such as the G2003 (46 inches) to plow my residential asphalt driveway and 4 foot concrete sidewalk. I'm going to order some manuals, but haven't got 'round toit yet. I see the plow for sale and don't have it yet. Thanks in advance

That sounds like a great price on the tractor. The LX-5 price he's quoting you is only average but you probably wouldn't save enough buying elsewhere to make it worth your while. It should be able to go through the tall grass fine but you may have to slow down some at times. Ask him about any front axle issues if you are going to finish mow. The 4200 might be affected by a front axle geometry issue that could cause some turf damage on turns while mowing. JD had an updated front axle to fix that under warranty but not all machines were updated.

I often compare childrens shoes priciing to adults when talking small tractors to larger ones. I can put about four pair of childrens shoes into mine but yet they cost the same! It is often the technology and machines to build that cost the most compared to the material.

For delicate grass or summer application without burning, I use Ringers. It can be gotten at larger HomeDepot stores and some Ace hardware stores. It is about $12-$15.00 per bag. It is totally organic like groundup chicken droppings. Atleast that is what it smells like when you broadcast it like regular fertilizer. Like Murf says, you shouldn't need anything right away unless you have real poor soil.

I'd be interested to know about the raised chrome badging vs. the decal as well. Mine is a 2003 with just the decals which are beginning to peal off. I was thinking about replacing them with the new version but if there are problems with it, I might not.

Most of the 13 inch rims I have seen have smaller center holes for lighter weight axles.

There is very little difference in overall diameter between a 205-75x14 trailer tire and a 205-75x15 trailer tire, and usually no difference in the load capacity

If you use the gasoline idea, it is a good idea to wait for the vapors to move throughout the colony. If you pour gasoline down the hole and dribble a trail to serve as a fuse, you will not be waiting long enough.

As far as lighting it, we used to throw matches into the hole from a few feet away. (but we were going after groundhogs and not flying stinging insects.) Anyway, I would say that we waited three or four minutes before trying to light the gasoline.

Maybe nobody here has experience doing that. I'll take a stab at providing an uninformed answer. You have to get the pump the right size so it doesn't cavitate or move so much water that it causes erosion. Don't forget the thermostat.

The older Dodges don't seem to be any problem at all.

Anything newer than about 2000 seems to be nothing but problems.

One fellow Ispoke to thought it was the driver, so he swapped trucks and drove the Dodge himself, it wasn't the driver. I saw him later with a new GM Duramax, when asked he said he didn't think the truck was going to make it the 3 years of the lease, so he flipped it for the GM and took the loss.

If you do a little experiment you will see that sharpening the blades to a knife edge really doesn't accomplish very much.

Leaving a 1/16" flat spot along the face of the blade makes the edge stronger and it will last far longer than a 'sharp' edge will.

Unless the ground is pretty tough, the proof is in the comment above. The post says they sharpen the blades after cutting two acres.

We have to keep a golf course cut while it's under construction or repair, we use a batwing mower, which is basically three 5' rotary cutters joined to together, behind a CUT to keep all the fairways cut.

We sharpen the blades weekly, to a 1/16" as per the manufacturers spec.'s, but they often don't really need it and could go two weeks. This is after cutting upwards of 100 acres of grass.

The only thing a knife edge on a blade accomplishes, is wearing out grinding discs and mower blades faster than is necessary.
