Having a hose on the back sounds like power beyond and you will need a valve. Down pressure is gods gift to hole driling. A local fence installer still uses a tractor with a regular post hole digger???. He can't drill at times in the summer if it gets really hard. I told him I could dig anytime with my mini excavator auger attachment and he thinks I am kidding. I am probably lucky to still be intact. I remember as a teenager drilling holes sitting on top of the auger unit to add more weight, not very sensible looking back, didn't work well either.

Thanks for the good advice! I can definitely see how the extra length will help me balance the load. I'm now looking at the 18 ft version with brakes on both axles.

I've only worked with heavy equipment for 20 years or so, but I always use the torch as a last resort on something of this nature. why? every time you heat metal to that degree it changes it/weakens it/distorts it.<br>

Although liquid nitrogen works nicely to shrink when installing 4"+ bushings on large excavators....<br>

The broken bracket is a very common problem and is caused by the rough idle.... something this engine just has.<br>

I did a little grinding on the air cleaner mounting bracket and reattached the air cleaner housing with a big hose clamp. That solved the problem.<br>

As to the fuel additive.... absolutely! I use it with every tankful. <br>
<br>
It probably wouldn't hurt to buy a couple quarts of Mobil 1 and change the oil. It will idle easier and faster with a good diesel rated synthetic and the engine internals will stay much cleaner.

My husband and I are in the market for a Kubota tractor. We have 8 acres and currently mow about 2 acres. We want a tractor with a loader and mower, and would also like to use it for plowing snow. We recently checked out and test drove the B3030 and liked the features it offers. Our question is about the L3130. How would this tractor be for mowing the lawn? Most of our land is flat, though there are some spots with sloping. We don't have many trees to contend with. My husband liked the idea of a heavier tractor, but would we regret it after we mow with it? Thanks!

As so many others here, I am looking for the right tractor. I have some hunting land in northeastern MN. It has about 45 acres of "high land" and 35 acres of "lowland" (lowland is swap and a boggy pine forest). The highland is sandy soil with a mainly birch/aspen forest with some pines and maple scattered about. There is a 2 acre meadow in which I am building my cabin. The meadow is about a 1/5 mile drive through the forest from the county road. I have a good couple of miles of trails through the forest which I am currently "maintaining" with my ATV and a swisher rough cut trail mower. <br>
So what do I want to do with a tractor?<br>
<br>
* Maintain trails, which includes smoothing over some bumps, keeping them clear of weeds/saplings, and removing tree stumps (typically 4" - 6" stumps).<br>
<br>
* Pull dead trees around<br>
<br>
* Level land for sheds/parking/etc<br>
<br>
* Dig holes for things like a grey water system or outhouse<br>
<br>
* Probably some trenching for water/power<br>
<br>
* Chip up the smaller dead wood around (and put on the trails)<br>
<br>
* Snow removal on my driveway and around the cabin<br>
<br>
* Move some material around to put on my driveway, such as gravel<br>
<br>
I am not so worried about mowing my meadow, the swisher seems to be doing that, though I suspect at some point I will want to replace it with a finish mower and a brush-hog.<br>

At this point my trails are just over 4' wide (enough to get my ATV and trail mower through). I really have no desire to make them much bigger than that, so size is an issue. A 60" tread would just not work for me!<br>
<br>
One machine that caught my eye is the Kubota BX-23. It seems like reading from this board this might be a good fit. What other attachments might I need? What about the PTO, is it somewhat under-powered?<br>

Should I be looking at other models/brands? What about used? Is there any significant money to save there?<br>

Best of Luck on your new job! There is always some uncertainty when making changes in your life. Change is good!! It's kind of a rebirth giving a new burst of energy. The important thing is to enjoy what you are doing and having the income to live as you choose. Don't spend too much time looking back, forward is the most important.

My backhoe does this when it has been run hard, the weather is very hot and sunny. I have to run a garden hose over the cooler and the hydraulic pump. Aluminum-bodied hydraulic pumps tend to expand quicker which drops the compression beteen the side ealing plates around the pump gears. Also low hydraulic fuild levels will sometimes lead to not enough cooling capacity. If your machine uses the trans and/or axle case for a reservoir, there may be excessive wear like a bearing that is putting out too much heat and the opil is soaking it up too. Are your brakes oil-cooled by the same fluid and they are dragging making heat?

I don't have a TC30 but I have a TC33 with a 7308. It is very easy off and on takes only minutes. The key is to shut off the engine and then move the joystick in all directions to relieve the pressure on the hydrolic lines before disconnect.

The box scraper or another source of weight on the 3pt is the only way to go. Your 280lbs is actually CONTRIBUTING to the load on the front axle rather than helping to reduce it. Take a look at the location of the seat directly from the side of the tractor. Even at its rearmost position the majority of your bodyweight is forward of the rear axle. 3pt ballast will help take load off the front axle but I wouldn't worry too much about the tires. The loader will stop lifting before the tires give out. Just go slow and be careful not to pinch the tire against the rim while going over a sharp rock.

Now you can here it from a former Legacy owner.

Simplicity makes a very fine (excellent) machine. The quality in their equipemnt is second to none, including ALL the brands that are popular for compact owners. The Legacy I had some years ago was before the XL came out. The XL was put into production in an attempt to get some of the sub-compact market that was exploding with the BX and the 2200 series tractors. Simplicity added the 4wd and upgraded the hydraulics, along with improvements to the 3pt and a few more engine choices. They are available with a Briggs diesel or Kawasaki liquid cooled gas.

With all that said, If you want a Sub-compact tractor, don't buy a Legacy. They are the finest garden tractors on the market, but just don't have the "tractor" build to them. The sub-compacts are designed, and sometimes produced, by tractor people. Drive the Legacy and then a few of the sub-compacts and decide for yourself which will do what you need more efficiently. You'll notice a difference.

I have nothing negative to say about Simplicity. The people were friendly, helpful, and always professional. I spoke to the people in Port Washington regularly. A great company that produces a great product, in the USA. But......I traded mine for a tractor.

From what I have heard, the Highlander is a typical excellent Toyota. My aunt has had one for several years, her first Japanese car. She is still thrilled. I believe it is built on the Camry platform also an excellent vehicle.

I own a Hinomoto C172 utility tractor and would like to know what year it was produced? It looks like it used to have a retangular plate riveted to the sheet metal just in front of the shifter on the transmission but I cannot find any other identification marks. I did find a number stamped into the right side of the transmission by the brake pedal looks like 55021684 does this mean anything?

Do you hear any type of hissing or squelling in the hydraulics like a valve or relief valve staying on or stuck.
I had a rear remote valve stick one time. It would have caused the oil to overheat, but I caught it first. Sprayed some penatrating oil in the valve/lever. Hasn't stuck since.
But it could be something like that causing your problem.

I need some advice on where to purchase a bucket for my loader. I want to put on a tooth bar and not have to take it off each time I want the bucket to push snow. 53" size or near that. I can get the JD quick attach hardware to weld on if needed. JD part no is 14445. I think<br>

LOL Thanks alot! I guess I did make myself clear enough because you all got!! exactly what I meant. Upsidedown,backwards LOl The best description was with the rounded part down. I never thought about not using the top link, GOOD idea! I ended up not using it at all for the seeding. As it turned out, the ground was like dust. Been so dry that after 2 passes with the rake (because just 2 weeks earlier I prepaired the field and have been waiting for the right moment to plant) the ground was like dust. Actually it was TOO perfect a seedbed except for the rocks not totally out. I broadcast the seed and decided to JUST cultipck since the ground was so loose. I will keep in mind the great ideas here though for anouther planting condition. Thanks for the good responses!
