I have a 86 ford 1710 with a bushhog 2240 QT front end loader.my bucket seems to stick right before i dump load of dirt. curls up and down unloaded fine. any suggestions? thanks

I have a JD350C Crawler loader on the farm. The left track only holds tension for about an hour. It pumps right up and holds when the machine is at rest, but when moving, the grees leaks out the cylinder at the rod. I assume there must be some sort of greese seal in the cylinder that is leaking. It looks straight forward to remove the cylinder but it also appears the rod needs to be removed also. Any trick to replacing this seal and/or is there something else causing the problem?. Any help would be appreciated.<br>

If your looking for a tractor that will work hard for you and has all the new safety features like a ROP, which is a must, go with the Jinma 254 crate tractor. The Chinese tractors have come a long way in the last few years and most complaints come from guys that have never even worked one.

Interesting posting. I've been known to occasionally state "with that I could do this and this and this." Then I use the jack of all trades item to tackle a big project. Then I go rent the big piece of equipment to finish the really big job like I should have done in the first place.

Initially, I liked your thinking. But then I thought about how much time it would take to do what you want with a tractor and a box blade. Then I wondered how much experience you have doing such work. I'm surprised at how much thinking I did.

Finally, I came to the conclusion that you should hire out the actual grading work for the airstrip. Hire someone that has the equipment and experience to do the job the right way and quickly. Then you can come back in with a smaller tractor (intended for the mowing & maintenance) and do the finish work. With a smaller tractor you can rig up a smoother using a length of chain link fence to relaly smooth out the surface of the air strip. You can rent a seed spreader that runs off your tractor to spread the grass seed you'll need. And then eventually run the mower and a box blade for general maintenance.

Basically I see two different equipment needs. A medium sized tractor of at least 25 Hp and preferably 30 hp to do the mowing and maintenance. Then something much much bigger to do the main building phase. I think you'd be happier hiring out the big work and having fun finishing up the rest yourself.

I used to haul showcars for a living and definately the safest way to tie a vehicle down so it wont move forward, rearward, or sideways is with 4 chains or straps, crosstied front and rear

do not be affraid...i bought a lb 1914 600 hrs on it...loader snowblower and everything is doing fine...just do what you have to do..oil change filter etc...and enjoy...i add a close cabin....with heater...just fine in the winter...wen it is going down minus 40 around here in montreal...very good tracter..and it is not my first one...jd case international....just enjoy the melody of diesel

I'm assuming you have a beam construction like a typical old American barn. 250mm to 300mm (10"-12") square wood beams with tongue and groove joints pinned with 25mm to 40 mm (1"-1 1/2") diameter wooden dowels.

As Shortmagnum has stated this structure may not be stable anymore and could fall.

To get stability while moving the structure back into position, you may need several screw jacks(commonly used to support floor joists in a basement) to raise the horizontal beam to the proper height. You need to place these at weight bearing points. The roof and its framework is much heavier than you think.

To bring the walls back together you need several cables or chains that bring them in with a turnbuckle or come-along ( wire cable on a spool with ratchet and hooks on each end). You need to re-inforce the frame work of the good walls so they don't move when you pull it together.

Make your movements slowly and stop after each slight adjustment and look at all parts of the framework to make sure it isn't moving in the wrong places.

If you can, anchor the corners of the good walls with braces (wooden beams at a diagonal) on the inside and possibly cables on the outside.

Can anyone help me with a ballpark estimate on what the following tractor is worth? I am completely new to the tractor market and have been entranced with the postings on this website. Never knew there was this much information to absorb. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The tractor is on E-Bay and the guy lives close to where our small farm is. No you don't have to worry about that! Your GVW isn't high enough to bother with that. But every now and then a weighmaster or police officer has a bad day and needs to get rid of some frustrations. Don't give them an excuse. Just make sure (all) your trailer lights are in working order and that you use turn signals, etc. and keep the unit under control.
