I'm trying to turn off the fuel petcock on the tc33 fuel filter but it won't turn and I am afraid I'll break it. It almost looks like there is a setscrew on top of the thing but I can't see it because it is blocked by a couple of hard lines.<br>

Find a fab shop that does race car cages or similar work in your area, and have them build you one. It will be far less expensive and more fitting to your needs than retrofitting an OEM folding unit (if one even exists).<br>

There seems to be allot of excitement about these ROPS units. This is not a high tech endeavor, just basic engineering. A custom unit from a race shop will be far superior to an OEM unit. (Having made these things for a living, I have a bit of experience.)

Does anyone know if the 47 backhoe will fit the 4700 tractor? I know it is not the ideal hoe for this tractor, but i am able to get one for a very good price-just need to do light trenching, and tree planting with hoe. thanks

If just one side of a disconnected cylinder is pressurized you can usually relieve the pressure by merely connecting the opposite line and cycling the appropriate valve while the tractor is shut off.

This way the oil released goes back into the system instead of on the ground and you.

Just be VERY careful anytime you allow hydraulics to move by gravity alone. If they settle onto, or pinch something, like a person, there will be no way to release the weight using the hydraulics without the tractor running.

The other minor issue is one of air entrainment. If you allow the loader, for instance, to lower very far without the engine running and providing enough fluid to refill the 'back side' of the circuit you will draw in air. The next time you use that circuit it will be spongey because of the air trapped.

The trick would be to do it from the Middle East, then the work would be done between 7am and 1pm, MUCH more civilized hours, LOL.

If it is going to be attached to the house, I would recomend normal stick built construction. That will be easier to make look like part of the house.

Maybe some of our engineering friends like Murf can jump in here on the pressure vs. volume questions.

There certainly has to be a balance here. By BX was a puny lifter. It ran about the same pressure as 4210 you mentioned, but it had small hydraulic cylinders.

So it seems that bigger hydraulic cylinders can do more with less pressure, but only to a certain point. Hook a 4210 size pump to a BX cylinder and it would move lightning quick but exert no more power if the pressure is the same.

If I am getting that wrong, I am sure one of my more educated friends here will/should set me straight.

I guess my point can be summed up thusly: The 4115 hydraulic system creates all the pressure a 4x24 cylinder and it's feed hoses can safely handle. The 4115 also generates sufficient flow in terms of GPM to split a cord of wood an hour(given two workers).

Certainly there are faster units, but for me the fact that I might save 10 minutes per cord for didn't wash considering the $1000 larger price tag of a faster outfit.

It might have turned my head if I was producing firewood commercially...........

We've got an 841 that I use quite a bit. Not correct paint, but it is a good tractor.

Steiner lists hood decals for $20/set.

There is a lot of life left in it for the hours but it might be a bear to steer as they didn't offer power steering on it.

Called Northern and after talking with a Tech who didn't know the difference in their Models gave me a number of the Manufacture and they gave me all the Specs on their Various Models.<br>
Found new one on Ebay for $42.00 "Tap's" better Model including S&H wheras Northern wanted 43.00 plus 8.00 shipping.Their one at $32.00 didn't have the LCD Indicator.<br>

I think GrassGod is right. In that story I told about the guy next to me in my one year rental, my wife just told me that she bumped into some people from the old neighborhood and it turns out he had to move out shortly after our twelve month stay. I think he must have screwed up somewhere on his own.

Waiting him out may be the best thing for you also.

This reminds of a friend of mine who built a new home next to someone who was equally as nuts as your neighbor.

He was a cop and was giving my buddy a super hard time, property lines, calling the building dept... you name it. His place was an eye sore, yet he gave my friend a super hard time.

Months of grief go by. Then 12 months later a for sale sign goes up.

My friend wonders what happened, after thanking God for this blessing.

Well it turns out that he had an altercation with his superior officer a the station. So my friends neighbor was going into his commanders office after hours and pXXing on the floor on a regular basis. The stench was so bad they put cameras in there and they caught him in the act.

Bye Bye pension, bye bye neighbor. Given time this guy may screw up without your help.

In Kentucky it depends on who owns the highway. Federal and State owned roads and right-of-ways are maintained by their contractors. We also have county and city owned roads. Typically, the county and/or city will maintain their roads and right-of-ways using their own employees.

I ask the county road superintendent if they would install a catch basin and pipe the ditchline at my property. He said they considered that landscaping and wouldn't do the work. However, he didn't have a problem if I did the work.

There was a thread concerning this problem several years ago regarding 870 series tractors. I had the problem on my 870 and ended up replacing the instrument cluster. It was about $120 at the time. I think moisture gets into cluster and increases friction on the gauge movements. Mine would try to come off zero when my problem first started and sometimes they would move upscale normally and sometimes they stayed stuck. You could see them try to move when you started engine so I was pretty sure I was dealing with a mechanical issue.

I'm not saying get hosed by the local dealer. But one thing I did pick up on at this board over the last year is that some people get a quote from a local dealer and immediately cross them off the list. They should go back and if necessary, show them the lower quote. At least give them the chance. How they react will tell you much about the type of dealer they are. If they refuse, odds are they are not the type of place you would want to go to for service. So I say give them the chance and also learn more about the dealer at teh same time.
