I'm glad you survived your near disaster. My recommendation is to follow the JD ballasting requirements in your manual to the letter. They have done the research and know what is required. On my 4310 the manual says to load the tires when you mount a loader. There must be a reason for that.

Thanks for all the input guys.

Basically what I'm looking to do is mount the receiver tube to the fixed tractor drawbar. My rationale behind this was I'm looking to move some heavy loads with this. My primary concern is towing a roller set-up that I made by taking the nose wheel off of an old asphalt roller and welding a 10' long tongue on it. I have no idea what it even weighs, but I'm guessing in the 3-4 ton range (tongue weight is only 250 lbs. or so) I've always towed it behind a dump truck to roll my 3/4 mi driveway, but wanted to use the tractor for greater manueverability.

I think I'm going to try beagle's approach, so I ordered some receivers from Northern Tool (cheaper than TSC). I was even thinking about making a mount plate for the front.

I own a BX 2300 and am considering a 3 pt. Landpride landscape rake. The dealer is recommending the 05 series rakes because they have 12" teeth as opposed to the 15 series which has 16" teeth. I'm told the 05 series with the 12 inch teeth are made for the BX models because of limited lift height. He said the BX would lift the 16" teeth but there would not be much clearance. I'm not sure clearance is that big of an issue. Is it? I like the added weight of the 15 series (275 lbs to 182) and the 5/16" teeth on the 15 as opposed to 1/4" on the 05 series. I would get a 60 inch wide rake in both models. Power is not an issue as the BX fits well within the HP rating on both.<br>

I will be using it on 2 acres of land to clear small rocks and to shape the ground for lawn and landscaping.<br>

Any suggestions as to the clearance issue or any other issues would be much appreciated.<br>

The dealer was in the area today and stopped by to fix the fogged instrument glass on my 4310. It took him about half an hour. He said the problem isn't one of condensation, but rather the gray film that shows up in hot weather. The fix is installation of a new instrument lense with a different anti-fog coating inside the glass. He said they have to be careful not to touch the inside of the glass during installation or the coating is ruined. What did they do in the old days with no coatings? Oh, I remember. The instruments were always full of condensation!

Ok guys. I mowed for about 30 minutes today and the mmm disengaged itself probably 8 or 10 times. I'd put it back in and it would go for a while, then just gently disengage. The yellow nob would just go down by itself. Called my dealer he said he'd never heard of that happening before??!! He's going to pick it up by Tues. HELP?!!!

I'm still thinking of upgrading. I like my current tractor but something new would be fun. First I have to find time to get my attactments, etc. together and get it sold. Am torn between a JD 3720 or 4120 and am also looking at the CNH DX 33,35 & 40. My Case dealer has been good to me over the years. Have done some business with the Deere guys and also have been treated good. It is a hard decision.

Have you considered using corn burners? I have an insulated pole shed (160x60) that I heat using 2 corn burners. I put 3 bushels of corn in each and they heat for 2 days-the building stays at around 60 degrees. These units, on high, will kick out 170,000 BTU each. So, if I need to warm up the building quick - I just turn them up. Heats up real quick.

Best thing about it is that when my fuel supply (dried corn) is getting low - I just call up the local feed mill. They deliver a load for $10 ... and corn is under $2/bushel.

The units which I use are Golden Grain out of Colorado. This is the 4 year that I have had them - no problems...

I agree with the need for the bicycle style handles on the big units. On the smaller units the average person will have no real problem.

We use a few Stihl monsters (FS-450's & 550's) for grubbing around obstacles where we can't get bigger equipment in. I don't think the average person would be able to catch them in time if they hooked on something solid.

Mind you, I doubt many people go out an buy a 60cc 4hp string trimmer for clearing around the house either.

The most important thing with any trimmer is to be CONSTANTLY mindfull of the direction of rotation. In light clearing you want the debris heading away from you, but in heavy clearing you MUST keep the edge of the blade furthest from you doing all the cutting, and the debris heading away from you sideways only.

This is so that if the blade catches on something the machine will want to jump away from you, instead of in towards you.

All I know is what Kubota advertised. The "deluxe" seat in the brochure was described as a link type suspension seat online. They changed it because everyone in Kubota Corp in the US has heard from me over the last 4 weeks. I want that seat and it isn't and never has been available for the ZG series... which I found out the hard way after I bought it.

In the front there is a frame that pins in. This has "hooks" for a "j-bar" that connects to the deck via "hooks" on the deck. The back of the deck is connected to the 3-pt via links/pins.<br>
This will be my first season re-attaching so my memory is a little vague. I plan hooking it up this weekend ( hope my barn floor is done). If I remember correctly no tools were required, just a PIA because at the time I didn't have a flat surface to work on.

Yes it seems if you reduce the size of the screen so that you have to scroll to the right to see the New posts and Hot topics that the scroll bars have a non normal operation. On mine if I click on them and drag on the choices I can get them to go up and down.

So they work in a non typical way. Not sure what is causing this. I will look into it.

I don't believe I have a picture of it, but I bought a cup holder from Walmart that fit perfectly on the floor pan between the seat and the cowl. For $4.99, I got two cup holders and a storrage compartment for misc. stuff. The fit was perfect, looks like it's always been there. They come in black or gray.

Only caution, kicking your coffee over getting on or off the tractor.

Thanks, an excellent reminder. You can't be too safe. My tractor has the ROPS and a seat belt. I have gotten in the habit of using the seat belt anytime I am on the tractor. Additionally, I carry my cell phone, just in case, because you never know.

First let me offer something: my shift boot was shot and I wanted to replace it. On ebay, I bought a shift boot for an old BMW 2000 (car) and it fits perfectly. Cheap too, at about $10.00. Maybe someone can use this information. Now what I need - can anyone tell me the intake and exhaust valve settings? Also the timing setting. And, on my 2304, there is a place for a knob to fit (there is nothing there, just a threaded hole) near the main gearshift, on the right hand side. I can move - whatever it is - up and down, but I don't know what is does. Anybody know? Thanks

some one at the factory or had the pump out of the box placed the pos and neg wires on the sending unit on wrong/polarity was reversed causing a sucking not a pushing/motor is d/c .wow did I learn fuel injection !!!!<br>
93 do not have a tank switching valve/power is switched by a relay and gas is prevented going back to the other tank by check valves /both tanks run to a "y" line then share a single line through the filter then to the fuel regulator.<br>
the presure side I tested was actually the return line sheeesshhhh<br>
fuel gage fixed itself/I belive it had to do with the pump negative lead<br>
