I had the same problem with my 4200 and the same model year. We also got the same line from the dealer about the collar shift grinding because it has no syncro rings. After getting a different dealer to do a computer search for issues on the 4200 we found it was a problem that John Deere was aware of. The fix was an upgraded/improved set of clutch disc�s, part number YZ80966 and about $150. I did the installation; it does require a special tool which may keep many people from doing it themselves. You still will need to come to a complete stop to change gears but what a huge improvement! I was about ready to sell the tractor prior to the new clutch. I�m now completely pleased with the 4200.
This is not to say that you make have adjustment or other problems.

Good point on the maintanence. I have always done most of my own service work and since this dealership is about 70 miles away I doubt I'll be hauling the tractor back for regular service unless something major happens. On the price issue I can only guess that it's from the competition, there are several Kubota dealers around here and only two or three New Holland. Even this dealer was pushing the Kubota over the New Holland. Could be the profit margin is higher or there is less competitive pressure for the New Holland brand. Kubota is very popular here and everybody sells them. There is only one JD dealership close around here and he sticks to the MSRP from JD, but then he really makes his money selling landscape equipment and the tractors are more of a side line. After about two months of looking and talking to several dealers and people who have purchased tractors over the past couple of years Kubota is preferred for price and reliability. I just liek this particular tractor and it would fit my needs just want to pay a reasonable price.

Do these prices seem reasonable

Is the bx1500 w fel adequate w 54" deck.<br>
Or is the 1800 worth $2,000 more to get a 60 " deck<br>
I noticed the 1800 fel has 200lbs more lift.<br>
Currently use a toro 48" zero turn.<br>
will the 60" deck on the 1800 be close to time spent since the deck is 12" wider?

I don't think you can go wrong with the Highlander. We have had a string of Toyotas starting with a 80 pu, 88 Camry, 93 pu, 95 pu, 00 Tundra and 05 4-runner. Put over 100,000 on each one except the Tundra which has 95,000 and the 4-runner which has 3,000. Never had any problems with any of them although we did keep them well maintained. We did have a 95 Chev S10 blazer in that string of Toyotas but we had a bunch of problems with it before it hit 100,000 including replacing the trans. Decided to get rid of it and just stick with the Toys. I agree that using the internet is the way to go unless you like dealing with salesman.

Yep! No offense to the 8n owners but evryday I walk out my garage and look at my 8n sitting in the garage, all painted up and looking good. Its a good place for it though! I still dont have it running and dont care to work on it. ??? What does my 8n have in common with itself before it was painted and after???? Its still dont want to run all the time. Its needs help!

Does the tc 25 have front brakes? (just wonderig)

I have a tc30 with about 100 hours and the brakes make noises (about like you describe). I don't hear it much since it is a hydro and i don't use the brakes very much. It seems worse when the brakes have not been used for a while.

I asked the dealer to check it when other service was being done. They didn't say what they found on this item and I have not checked the brakes after service.

I do not think that they would be very good for pulling a cart around. We sell many different brands and they all have one thing in common. Traction. If it is wet or damp you will have none. I have tested what we sell Cub Cadet, Woods, Bush Hog, Ferris, and Kubota. Art is right about the wheel size bigger is better. Just remember you get what you pay for. You can get a nice lawn tractor for what you can get a "CHEAP" zero turn for.

I do enjoy the CK tractor, The dealer I bought it from is the Owner and also the Salesman and one of the Mechanics that repairs the tractors. This will be a plus should I need repairs. I think it nice to deal with one person instead of buying from a salesman then if repairs are needed you go through the service manager and never see the mechanic.

I read an article by a guy who went to China to observe their manufacturing processes. He interviewed the manager of a plant that used lots of cheap manual labor. The manager reported that they would be automating their manufacturing process due to the high cost of labor. It's all relative.

I'm looking at Kubota compacts and like the B2910 over the 3030. The new Kubota seat is awful to say the least. I found a dealer that has a several left in stock and a couple are still in the crate. Does anyone know what the list is on this unit with loader, turfs and the 60" bucket. What should I offer him for the tractor. He wants $17,500 but I'm thinking $16,500 or so.<br>

I dont know what kind of tiller your useing, but the 72" KK I use will pulverize sod in two passes.You have a hard time finding any of it.

From the limited info you've provided, the 2210 should work out. The pricing is OK--not great--not terrible. Part of that is that the used/resale market for the 2210 has yet to be established.

1700 ft is too long to run secondary, 120/240 volts. The utility company will install primary conductor to a stepdown transformer. This is not an installation for the property owner, however, the utility may require or allow the property owner to dig the trench. Normally, this will be 30" to 36" deep.

If its an option I would strongly recommend installation in conduit, PVC schedule 40 is normally used. Concrete encasement is overkill, except under pavement. A red caution tape will be installed about 12" above the conduit.

Primary electric cable doesn't just break. Problems are created by animals, trees, humans on backholes, and lightning.

Normal primary phase to ground voltages are 2400, 4800, 7200 & 7620 volts. The three phase voltage is 4160, 8320, 12470, & 13,200, respectivity. Some RECC's use a 14KV phase to ground voltage, but its not as common as the others. Also, most utilities are or have phased out the 2400/4160 voltage.

I have a RFM with a breather hole in the side of the case. I need to take a closer look to see if it would be a problem for leaks. Thanks for the input. If anyone has stored a RFM this way, it would be great to kneo if you ever had any problems. Space is always at a premium in the barn.

Pull the screen off and use an air compressor to blow from the back side. I use a blow gun that is about 18" long and has a rubber tip. The stock radiator has 12 fins per inch and was found to plug up with debris. Replacement radiators (PN86402723)have 8.5 fins per inch and shouldn't plug as often. This change was effective with serial number G039046.
