I have enough of the regular 10-30W oil for another oil change and then I'll be looking at the Rotella at Walmart for my oil changes. My tractor will be 3 years old in July and I have 240 hours on it. That was why I jokingly said I'd have the synthetic hydro fluid in there 8 years if I got it. I don't think I put enough hours on the tractor to justify the cost of the synthetic hydro fluid. The cost of the Synthetic oil isn't bad. By the way Mark, I sent the picture of those bears to some others that appreciate wildlife pictures as much as I do. Hope you don't mind. The caption was as good as the photo. Steve.

Hey wr5evk8jj,

I haven't pursued the hydraulic top link option lately but a local automotive/farm supply outlet (Princess Auto) apparently carries some small cylinders that my neighbour thinks will work with a bit of fabrication. I'll be looking into this in the next month or two and I'll let you know if it's successful or not.

Has anyone seen or fabricated a small portable soil screener that I could use as a start for designing my own?<br>
I have seen comercial units parked on job sites, but never looked at one up close, seems like it would be a simple matter to fabricate a small version.In my case i would use an electric motor for power.<br>

I have a little over 36 acres, and decided to go with the B7610 w/LA352 FEL and filled R-4's. I would pay the little bit of difference for this over the B7510 tractor for the bigger loader and 3hp 21>24. I wished it was a B7800 or L2800/3400 series moving logs sometimes, but I manage and the ground clearance when working in the woods (my land is hilly, and I ford small creeks) is where the B series realy shines over the terrific BX tractors. The full Cat 1 capability is nice as well. My two cents worth as a first time tractor owner.

Lots of us "Old School" people had a hard time converting to OSB, but so far I haven't herd of a house falling down because it was used. Our house is built using it, I drug my feet a bit but as allways the cost factor entered the picture. Plywood is costly now, but if no body used OSB and all insisted on plywood what would it cost with that much less competition and lots more demand? Just my ramblings. Frank.

In rocky ground, it's almost imperative that they come straight UP and out. I've broken post jacks on this type post, and occasionally resort to the barrel and chain technique. Place a 55g drum, or some other suitably sturdy tall device next to the post. Affix your chain to the post at ground level. Route the chain up the post and OVER the barrel. Connect the other end to the towing vehicle. Drive forward, post has no choice but to go UP.

No dealer should ever tell you their cost, that is just bad buisness. If you can get someone to bite on that price for the 4120, go for it. Just keep in mind, its not just overhead, The setup of the machine, and delivery, plus all the time the salesman spent with you factor in to cost. Plus us tractor dealers don't work like car dealerships, We don't get huge kickbacks from corprate. And our models change ever few years, not every year. Priceing also depends on your location. CA is higher due to workers Comp laws and labor costs, other states can be lower. Just keep in mind that if you buy out of state to avoid sales tax, dealers won't just turn you in, but if the man comes knocking we can't lie.

Retails for around $2,500. and is a pain in the a$$ to remove and install. We have sold only one for the 60+ TZ tractors we have sold.

First off let me say that ALL TC24s are being liquidated at very low prices due to the tc26 coming and if you would have went back to you local guy after you got the NC quote
I bet you would have got a better price.

Second you got a very very cheap loader and does not even come close to the 12LA factory loader.(Great Bend is Bush Hog off brand).

Right know we are selling tractor loader mower packages for about 17K Tc24da 12LA 60" 914a.

Really I'm sorry for your situation but I am not at the same time. The statement that they loses money on warranty is true NH owes us over 3,000,000 for last years work.

i can try to help you with your problem you are having with your tractor if you want just let me know what the problems/symptoms are.

Long after the sweetness of a cheap price is poor service.

Go ahead and buy a Chinese tractor then you will really see the tractor on the back of a truck on the way to get fixed a whole lot more than any other tractor.

Yep! tc40 with 4/wd will do the job just fine. LOL
I was plowing one of my fields this weekend. Was not going to but if the big boys are out there why can't I? This field has a few low spots and is for the most part low to begin with. I was skeptical at first but after I got her in the mud I was amazed. Only thing slowing me down from mid range 2nd gear was in the 2 real low spots where the ground under me was giving way. Lift the plow up and she walks right thru. I am still amazed at these machines and what they can do.

If I took my bad one out and moved it manually and then put it back in, it would work for a day or so. Oil got behind it and gave some back pressure or something. The new ones have a groove added to drain the oil and now new one works fine. Manufacturer (NOT JD) replaced it, so this part was free.

Thanks! I thought it was the right thing to do. I've only run the tiller about 20 minutes so far but I've been impressed. It "found" a couple of bigger rocks and kicked them up easily. Now I know why they say to keep the back cover open in rocky soils - otherweise they just bang around inside the tiller.

I was really surprised at how quiet the tiller runs. My JD Snowblower attachment was very loud. But this implement is very quiet.

Now if it only stop snowing in Central Wisconsin!

I can't fault the bird but we had a big hawk fly into the exact center of the largest window in our great room once. It flew off so I hope it was OK. The funny thing was we hadn't washed the windows for a long time and they were covered with dust and dirt and we could see an exact silhouette of the hawk in the window - wings spread, head with beak and talons. It almost looked like a xerox copy of the bird! I almost hated to wash the windows.

I doubt they sell the skid plates separately. There isn't much demand for them and it's a discontinued model anyway. There isn't much to the other kit parts so they probably don't add much to the cost.

I'd take the cylinders to a hydraulic shop and have them rebuilt. If they can't be rebuilt then they'd probably have a much better price on new ones than JD.

I guess if I had to boil it all down into one sentence it would be something like this;

Remember they call these things a COMPACT tractor for a reason.

I have seen more tractors damaged by an overly-aggressive operator than any other single reason. A backhoe or loader equipped CUT can be surpisingly easy to wreck. These things are NOT bulldozers, nor 40 ton excavators, nor monster trucks.

If you search through the archives on this board you will find several threads about B/H's snapping tractors in half, likewise with FEL's pushed beyond the limits of the tractor their bolted to, and most 3pth implents are more than capable of heaping more than their fair share of abuse on a CUT too.

Be careful, be patient, and above, be safe.

There should be a sign in the middle of every CUT's steering wheel that reads "When in doubt, DON'T !!!".

Anyone else have the water pump grenade on their 7.3 L diesel? Mine went in a Menards parking lot Saturday night. Never heard it squeal or any of the usual warning signs. I was calling the wife while it idled to tell her I was on my way home. Hung up as it idled rough and then shut it down when bad sounds happened. Looked out to see coolant pouring out. Woops!<br>

I then collected the pieces of the bearing that got chucked on the ground. It was an impressive failure for sure. New pumps are dang expensive. Sadly, the only place open on Sunday is a Chevy dealer. They fixed it right up. I couldn't delay as my wife is 2 weeks away from her due date. We work in opposite directions and I didn't want to be down to one vehicle with her being due so soon.<br>

Runs great now. Sure pissed me off when it went, though. I was about 100 miles short of 129,000 when it went.
