There are many (engineering) ways to achieve the filtration specs provided by an engine manufacturer. The number of pleats may be irrelevant. A larger number of pleats may mean that the filtration media used in that filter has a slow rate of passage and therefore a greater surface area is needed to achieve the same flow. I used to work in a scientific chemistry lab, we had hundreds of different paper types that could be used in a standard funnel as filter paper for filtering.

There is one known fact:
The OEM spec'ed filter meets the specs for the engine.

As for all other filters, we don't know for sure what specs they meet and what they dont, some are expensive some are cheap. Since we dont know what specs they have to meet its a crap shoot. Baldwin wix fram etc who cares, we cant definitively say that a particular Non-OEM meets the specs for the engine, some probably do, some will not. In any case the brand is irrelevant, its the actual filter used that is required to meet the specs of the engine.

As to which is best....two questions:

1) Does the Woods unit void the tractor warranty?

2) Does the Woods use the 4110 internal hydraulics, or does it have a separate pump and reservoir?

I am selling my B1700 HST with 254 hours, with an RCK60-24B belly mower. Just bought a B2410 HST for no good reason other than the B2410 price was right. I think in like new condition the B1700 should bring $7000 plus or minus, considering it is in perfect condition. Only drawback is its 17 HP, enough, however, in a compact diesel to do whaevr I have ever needed. Am I off base here?<br>

I am also looking for what features made the B1700/B2100/B2400 more expensive than the B7300 and B7500 machiens in the 1999-2001 time frame. Anyone help me out here or have a couple old brochures?<br>

If you are still looking to sell that 2410, I just bought a 2000 B2410 with a 60 in belly mower for $8000. I bought because the price was $1,000 to $1,500 below what I have been seeing as market for B2400/2410's of that age in the midwest area.

Now that's a great observation. I'm 5' 9" and felt I needed to watch my head when I tested the BX2300/23. I think that guy might be 5'4", at the most

Thanks Art! I decided to go with the 7800 due to being a better match to the implements that I own. I'll be doing a lot finish grading with the machine and have bigger equipment available for the heavier grading. Hopefully will pick the machine up next Thurs. I'm really excited about the Top and Tilt as I've tried to find a reasonable hyd. top link for years and was unable to do so until I stumbled across this site a few days ago. I'm still wondering how hard it will be to add the extra remote???

That is the fix. WD-40 will loosen it up AND prevent the moister from causing more problems. Also make sure the return spring is not collapsed or weakened.

We have quite a few super steers out with well over 1000 hours on and no problems. Just remember to keep every thing greased. As far as the load rating, there is no difference.

Yoop, I'v egot a brush mound that needs burning too. But we've had so much rain I don't know how much gas it would take to get it going. And at $2 a gallon, I don't want to be using too much. But the used motor oil really gets things going once you've got it lit.

Good luck and remember the matches before you poor the gas. I forgot once and it made a real nice whump! once I got back with matches. Wife was not impressed as usual.

The only thing you need to check is the length of the shaft. You need to make up about 3" for the quick hitch, other than that, all your implements, considering they are all full CAT 1 sized will fit no problems. The bushings if you buy the ones made by Speedco for their hitch will run about $20 a set, the bushings you can get at any tractor supply will cost you maybe $7-$10 for all 6 pieces and they can be easily removed if needed, the bushings for Speedco are attached using drive in split pins and are pretty much locked on when done, you would need to drive the pins out. With the bushings I use, they slip over each other and the lock in keeps them in place. I found them very handy, if I get, or borrow another impliment, I can just take them off of one of the others in seconds and put them on the new one in seconds. Hookup is very simple. Two levers are pulled up releasing the catches, the lower pins slip into the notches, release the levers and they are locked in, then attach the top pin and you are all set. I find I seldom ever need to adjust the top link or the side link on the 3 point.

Because there really aren't any moving parts, you might be OK, but check on the weight as compared to other brands the same size.

Sometime they skimp on the steel and there can be a 75-100 pound difference in the weight. You will want the most substantial that you can afford.

Is anyone here old enough to remember Waylon Jennings? I hope so...anyway, just wondering if anyone here has heard his son's music. His name is Shooter Jennings, and he keeps his country music raw, but it does have a fresh modern sound to it also. It's not nearly as cheesy as a lot of the stuff that's out now, and quite frankly I think it's great. My son has been working for Universal (he doesn't want to be a farm man like myself) and I got a copy of it from him. The gas Is new but I think it must have the wrong plugs I just bought this and it has new autolite but I'm not SURE they are even the right number I will get the correct champion plugs. I thank all of you for your help and am looking forward to fun hours with my new hobby , for sure I will get strong arms.
