I was unloading my tiller a few weeks ago using chains and the hooks on the fel. I could not get right on top of the tiller because it was still crated up and the crate was pretty tall. No problem right? LOL. My buddy was watching while I was doing this and could not belive I was so cautious! The tiller is under a thousand pounds but the way I had it rigged I had to raise the fell super high. I could NOT pull the trailer out from under it cause of where I was. I had to slowly back up. Also I was backing "UP" a sloped gravel driveway. As the tiller started swaying, I was getting nervous. Was able to safely lower it when I cleared the trailer but my buddy was still amazed at how nervous I was. I told him you would NOT believe the amount of force that is exerted in a pendulum action of a swinging load! Plus backing UP a bumby drive added to the tension. I could of smashed my trailer and dumped my tractor along with the tiller crashing to the ground all at the same time! Yes! Caution was in deed necessary in doing what I did!LOL

They were a well built blower although there are newer blowers and different makes that will out blow them. They are good for 20 to 30 foot distance and will not bend easy as there is a lot of metel used to build them.

In picture #6, what kind of quick detach system do you have on you lower link ends? Does it require bushings for implements? (It doesn't appear so) Where did you get it and what did it cost? Is it easy to hook up with? I would like one very much if it is simple to use. I have a 2004 B7610w/352 FEL. I deal with Davis-Merchant Kubota in Powhatan, Va. on RT60. Great folks there.<br>

I noticed that your top link did not appear to be connected to your 5' bush hog, is that true? I could only see chains in the picture. I didn't know you could do that. How do you tilt it up?<br>

Thanks, I am cosicering the SPEEDCO myself for my B7610. What tractor do you have yours on? Your write up makes ir sound more complicated than I am sure it is. I have a Woods Brushbull 48" rotary cutter, and it is the only PTO driven implement I currently own/use. I wouldn't want to have shaft problems with this. I have a 6' Kodiak rake, 6' Woods RB72 rear scraper blade and a Bush Hog SBX60 5' box blade. How much are the bushings for each implement? I want to make sure it is well worth the investment. Thanks.

For a one time deal see if you can rent a pulverizer for your tractor. Out south of Rockford here there is an Ace hardware store that rents one for a 3 point hitch thats PTO powered. It will loosen the top soil, break up clumps, dislodge rocks and move the large junk off to the side, and when finished leave a nice smooth surface for planting seed. If you have a farmer local to you, see if he has a seed drill and ask if he can plant for you. A local farmer to me tilled, harrowed and seeded my pastures from a corn field when I first moved to where I am now, a year before I got my tractor, I gave him a $100 for doing it. If he can do all that for you, that will work as well, but it wont be as smooth as if you did the pulverizer thing. What you should put down is a good pasture seed mix if you have horses use that type, cattle/cows use the one for them. If you just want grass, then get a decent seed mixture. When you plant, also ooverseed with a good rye mix, annual/perrinial mix which sprouts really fast and gives a good hold to the soil so the slower growing hardier grass can take root. Depending on weather, you may need to seed a few times the first year to get a good carpet down, then fertilize it every year. See if you have a farm service nearby that you can get fertilizer from, it will save you some big bucks.

A couple years ago I picked up a KK Finish mower, grader blade, landscape rake and 60" tiller for my Bota. I have to agree with the paint, ALL the implements have lousy paint, and the tiller and mower came crated, both had paint rubbed off where the crate touched it. I wrote KK about the paint and where to get iut, and got back a not so nice reply letter that said, go back to where you bought it, they should have paint, if not, at least a color close enough to match. Not very good customer service.

Aside from that I have not had one problem, except for a blown belt on the finish mower from not adjusting the tensioner, that wasnt cheap, darn belt cost near $30, and had to be ordered. I didnt like the way they have the wheels attached to the mower either, so I replaced the cotter pins with spring clip pins to make them easy to adjust the deck height, and found that wasnt a very good idea, from all the bushes around my place, I somehow knocked a pin out, and when I raised the deck to clear something a wheel fell out, and I ran it over. That cost me another $50. Grr, so keep in mind, if you get the finish mower, dont change the pins, use the same type cotter pins and keep an eye on the tensioner for the belt.

The Tiller, no complaints at all, it works hard and works well, and have not had any adjustment issues except that its a pain that you have to unbolt everything to adjust the height, so quick field adjustments cant be done. It also adds a great amount of weight in the back as ballast when using the loader, but drags on the ground if you go into any sort of incline.

35 PTO HP should be plenty for that tiller.

I run the KK 60" on my B2410 bota without issues, except when I hit a rather large tree root, then it stops the tractor dead. Other than than it churns the soil whether its heavy clay or light loam just fine, including heavy grassy soil. I just did behind my house so I can regrade, and except for the afore mentioned tree roots from some very large Maple trees, it went through it like butter. The B2410 has a rating of only 18 PTO HP. The Recommended PTO HP for the 60" is 25-40, recommended for the 72" is 35-50, so if 18 HP can push a 60" rated at 25-40, the 35 should drive the 72" like a wild thing outa control.

Thanks to all that responded, I get that what one spends is what one gets but i just got a price for a woods 6' box for 2900 that is huge, for the amount of time I'm going to use it I might have to give a cheaper box a try.

I tend to agree on the tractor size, dont go any smaller than the 2910. I have a 2410, and while it can drive a 5' rotory, it felt unstable, then again it was a king kutter and not really made for the B2410, a Kubota brand one at 5' would probably do quite well, but is on the fringe HP wise off the PTO on the 2410.

Hey, I recommend Baldwin filters period! Not Wic/Napa brand. I sold the Wic brand (in a past life ;) . Wic produces their producd with the one size fits all thinking. Just because a filter threads onto the oil filter mount doesn't mean the filter is right for all uses. I handled too many customer defective/damage claims. Baldwin is far better product! Before anyone has their feeling hurt using Wic/Napa filters, call your local CAT. equipment dealer or Sunstraind hydraulic repair
shop.Ask Wic filters will void their warrenty. Baldwin filters are sold at better truck parts stores or search Baldwin filters for your web site.

Gassers, you are pretty much stuck with the economy that you get provided it is in tune, tire pressures at the proper level, alignment in good shape, etc. Adding components like exhaust, intakes, cams, ignition systems will gain you HP but will NOT help at all in the economy range.

Diesels on the other hand, can be modified to get higher MPG gains. Example, F350 Dually Diesel, add a 5" exhaust, K&N or other free flowing intake, and a tuner can give 1-3 MPG increase in fuel gains. Driving habits can also give better gains when the above mods are added, but in some cases(mine) the mileage will stay the same because the added power translates to a heavier foot with gives a greater smile factor. I have gained, when driving carefully and keeping foot out of firewall, 2.5 MPG with a tuner and 5" exhaust, but normal driving with hotshot takes offs(because its cool for an 8000 dually to smoke the wheels) have kept my mileage around 15 MPG. On the highway doing 60 I have a good 19 MPG average, above 60 though because of the 4:10, the average drops to around 17. Above 65 closer to 75 I get between 14 and 15 MPG. Before I added the tuner, I was getting average 14-15 MPG driving granny style, with the tuner I can drive aggressively and still maintain 14-15 MPG.

It costs me well over $80 a week to drive the truck when fuel was about $2 agallon, now would be much higher at $2.50 a gallon, so I parked it and got me a car that I have been wanting for a long time, 2001 Crown Vic LX Sport. It costs me about $40 a week to drive it, so I save about $40 a week, $160 a month. Doesnt make up the difference for the car payment and insurance, but I have a baby on the way and a good safe car is a good idea, that and its a nice car and fun to drive. On average the Vic will give me about 21 MPG depending on traffic, the faster I go the better the milage, the more stop and go the lower the mileage, 18 city, 27 highway, most of my commute is 55 MPH roads, but some of them during rush hour have people who dont know that to go 55 MPH they need to put their right foot on that long pedal on the right and press down.

True, you dont want to remove the grease , but if it is anything like mine, after 200 hours, thats 20 times it has been greased, there are large globs of dirty gross grease on every joint and fitting. Washing at an angle tha prevents water from entering the joint helps, and then grease the joints afterwards and wipe off the excess when done. I like to wash my tractor a few times a year, especially after moving the manure pile during winter, it gets crap all over it and it cakes on pretty good. Right now the tractor really looks grungy, and is starting to smell.

I have a TC33D w/out SS and I think the turning radius is just fine. I don't do a lot of close quarters mowing though.

Suggest you check to make sure you have a good spark. I would pull the sparkplug wire and keep it about 1/8" to 1/4" from the tip of the plug. I would not hold the plug wire while the flywheel is being turned. If the wire casing isn't good, you may get a jolt. Have someone turn the flywheel while you are in the dark and see if you get a good spark jumping from the wire to the plug. You could have a bad magneto or bad plug wire.<br>

I'm assuming your compression release is working OK. When you say "its hard to start", I don't think that you mean it turns over hard.<br>

When tugging on the flywheel, you will want to start pulling between firing strokes. (i.e. you won't want to start pulling when it is the most difficult) You want it to begin rotation when it is easiest to pull and use the flywheel to help you get to TDC. When you find the place to start pulling (just past the last compression phase), I always watched my neighbor start pulling at about the 11 o'clock position on the flywheel and pull toward himself until about 2 o'clock. It usually started quite easy. He would let it fire a few times and pickup speed before closing the compression release. Don't have first hand experience since we always drove "RED". Personally, I like electric start stuff!! Should also note my neighbor had fingers about the size of my wrists.<br>

I'd also check out the air filter system to make sure the air is getting through for a good gas/air mixture. If I remember correctly it is a wet filter system with oil bath.

I agree with Ann. However, if you decide to keep them. Suggest you place them on jack stands to take the pressure off of the tires. This will decrease tire cracking, etc. I would also take out the battery. If you have a loader or backhoe, make sure any exposed shafts are lubricated to resist rusting. Make sure all of the grease zerks have been lubricated. I would also start and run the tractors and drive them around atleast every couple of months. That will get fluids lubricating where they should. Make sure your anti-freeze is good. Anti-freeze is good forever, but rust inhibitors breakdown after a while. Likewise, consider changing oil atleast after a winter of sitting around where moisture can collect in the pan. Cover the tractor to keep, dust and moisture off the machine.

I've done none of the above on my old Farmall "C" and the tires are shot and it won't start now after setting around for years.
