The last few weekends I have transplanted about 16 large blue spruce (6-10 foot). Grew these from seedlings. Transplanted 12 poplars 8 feet tall. Ripped a bed of pachysandra out of the front garden with backhoe and re-distributed in back behind pool yard fence. I am waiting on 12 foot Maple and 8 foot King Crimson Maple to plant in back (waiting for sale price if it ever comes). Have multitude of seedlings coming from county and internet to plant for future years.<br>

Could never have done this without my best assistant, JD4310 (and crazy wife Marilyn who works with me on tractor). I love the smell of earth and its damp feel in my hands this spring. There is nothing like getting back to nature when you work in an office on a computer all day long. I have gone to work for about 6000 days now 8-4 ater 27 years. This tractor was one of my best purchases ever!! <br>

I would think that tire chains will definitely markup your garage. If you spin your tire going up a hill it will make nasty scratches. If you are blowing snow, and have enough weight, you shouldn't need allot of traction unless the snowbanks are high and you need to ram into them. I've heard of tire cables being offered instead of chain which would seem to be lots less harsch. pewagchains.com. I've never used them. I've mess up some nice concrete with regular tire chains on my lawnmower and snowblower though. The marks don't go away.

When It comes to tractors my comment is that bigger is better. The cost justification is up to the individual and really depends on the use. Only the guy sitting on the seat can make the judgement. Get your dealer to let you drive both around. If he has a demo unit or really wants your business maybe he will let you push some dirt or dig a hole. Then you will know for sure.

Looking for a FEL for my 1990 Kubota B6200, 4WD, MMM. I checked Koyker (not available), Woods (not available) and Allied/Farm King. The Allied is available and seems pretty robust. I do not have PS, and I thought of upgrading tractors, but my unit is in perfect condition, runs real strong, and the loader would only be occasional use. For the money and value, adding a loader to the old tractor might be better than thousands on a new CUT. Anyone with experience on FEL's for this tractor?<br>

The tractor is alright for the mower if you maintain a well manicured cut. If you let it get much length you will have to go pretty slow so you do not bog down the engine. Though it is 35hp it is still only a 3cyl engine so you lose a little bit a torque factor. If it were me I would spend the extra $$ and get the 40. For loader work you will have very little hp issues.

Yup, he's right. Most of the time I have the backhoe on so I can pick up the rear end with the stabilizers. I understand that the backhoe can also be used to dig holes - not just facilitate changing wheels.

Any one have an opinion on a ford 1900? The owner says it's an 88'. But the info I find says they didn't make them after 82' When I asked him about it he said it was the last year they made them and they put in a bigger engine that year. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm working on a serial #.

As we "speak", I'm letting some liquid teflon seal on my fittings as just today I've run into the same situation. After about an hour, I'm going out to put the fittings back together and hope that does the trick... Good luck with your situation!

yoperpete; No, I've never owned an ATV, but did have a home made three pt. sprayer for the 4410. I've used it a lot in the past to spray fencerows, etc., but it fell apart on me last summer and I just haven't gotten around to the rebuild stage yet. I checked at the local elevator today, they have a nice walk behind they furnish if you buy the dope from them, so that looked like the way to go. Thanks. Frank.

Did you notice where the grease fittings are for the blade spindles? And don't lift your 3 point to high.

I've had my 72" Sitrex for 3 or 4 years and those fittings are hard to get at, they should have been on the top like most mowers you see.

Be careful when you lift the mower with your 3 point hitch. The very first time I used my Sitrex on my Ford 2000 I lifted it to high and bent the power take off shaft on the leading edge of the mower. ($90 mistake) The mower should had been desighed with the gear box closer to the front of the mower or maybe I should have been paying more attention to what I was doing.

Every mowing season I have to remind myself to adjust the stop of my 3 point hitch to limit it's lifting height, cause if I don't, eventually they'll be another ($90 mistake)

Other than that it's been realiable and does cuts good,
but I would not buy another one.

On your 180, doesn't it have an adjustable width on the front end? If so, then You will probably be allright in moving your front wheels wider. <br>

However, I do understand, that moveing the wheels wider will make for more stress on the front end, especially if the tractor hits a hole, or if the tractor front end comes up and then slams back down hard.<br>

That's the plus of the hydro that will make them good performers in all conditions with that blower. With the deeper snow it might just take a little longer.
