As always, alot of good advice and answers to questions I haven't thought of asking. How about this question.

How many horses per acre is comfortable? Since the land is in various grasses, I would like to keep it going and not become a mud pit. He had owned land adjoining ours and kept it well maintained with regular horse activity.

I have a woods rotary cutter that came standard with a steel shield/guard bolted to the back. The optional chain shielding kit (I think) is around $200.<br>

What are the advantages to having chain shielding on a rotary cutter as opposed to the standard steel guard?<br>
Would you recommend getting the chain shielding?

If the dealer or factory can't set you up with them because they're out of print or something check with a local sign company.

We had similar problems with our fleet, between the constant dirt and washing our fleet gets many warning & instruction labels became unreadable. We merely got the owner's manual out, scanned the illustration from there and a local sign company reproduced them for very little money.

I just bought a second set of wheels so that I have both bar and turf tires. They didn't cost too much and its easy to switch back and forth since the tractor can jack itself up. The bar tires are really neccesary for construction work or mucky soil.

For tractor-powered operation, you would actually have three choices of winch drive: PTO, electric, or hydraulic. A place like Surplus Center has versions of each that could be adapted for tractor use. For truck use, only the electric and maybe the hydraulic (which utilizes the truck's power steering pump) are really practical. PTO winches for truckes died out in the 70's due to cost, complexity, and the lack of PTO access on the light duty transmissions and transfer cases that where being used.

For the ultimate tractor winch for logging, check out the Farmi product line. Not exactly low budget, but they look like they would do a nice job.

I'm trying to remove my mower blades for the first time so I can sharpen them. The directions just say to "Loosen and remove two cap screws" after blocking the mower blade. Are they normal threads (righty-tighty, lefty-loosy) or are they reverse threads? A quick reply would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Regarding the 5234, how fast can you mow in a straight line, on dry grass? Do you ever wish it could go faster, or have more power? How easy is it to remove the MMM, and how long does it take? I need to buy a tractor that can run a 48" post hole digger and I think this model will raise the 3 pt high enough to make this work. Did you test drive the JD 2210 or massey ferg 2300? How much did you pay for the tractor with the 60" MMM? I really like the Cubs, and am seriously thinking about the 5234.

You can go to machinerylink dot com to find specs on a lot of tractors, and machinefinder dot com is a site that has pics of a lot of machines for sale. I don't know of a site that has exactly what you're looking for (not that there isn't one).

KK and Howse are some of the cheapest cutters made and that probley because of there not built as nice and tuff as the more spendy model. My KK worked great and was sized correctly for my 790 but is not near built strong enuf for the large framed machines.If you go that route be very carefull around fences and or trees as if it catches something (And you will sooner or later) the weight of that tractor will tear that cheesy 3 point hook up all to $#%*. were as the 790 would buck around and almost stop letting you know you were hitting something without hurting it.that large frame tractor will twist and crush it up Fast before you can correct. I been through this already, my next cutter will be a 7 foot HD. best of luck in your choice.

Friday night was windy and a tree blew down on the power lines causing a 12 hour outage. Our Gillette generator, which gets exercised weekly, just wouldn't start. Battery was fine so I had to do some troubleshooting and traced it to a bad fuseholder in the starter wiring. Well, bad isn't exactly the right word - unbelievably cheap is. The fuseholder consists of two yellow sleeves and a fuse that are simply pushed together. No spring, no twist lock, only pushed together. What a cheesy thing to install on an EMERGENCY generator. If anyone has a Gillette generator you might inspect your fuseholders and replace any that are this type. They are apt to fail when you need them most. In my case just pulling it apart and pushing it back together got the genset running again. I've also had troubles with bad connections in the transfer switch - the spade connectors had a tendency to just fall off when you look at them. Very loose - I had to replace a half dozen of them to fix an erratic starting problem so this is something to keep an eye on as well.

I tried it that way. I guess the one I'm trying is a code word that sets off some kind of tractor point alarm. Maybe this way

first type tractor then by then net. This is all one word without the words "then". After that put in dot then com.

Has anyone used the Kubota B2781 51" Front Mounted snowblower on either the B7510HST or B7610HST?<br>
Does the tractor's PTO have enough Moxie to easily power this heavier duty blower in 2 to 3 foot snowstorms on 1000 foot gravel driveway?<br>
I think the BX2750B 50" would be to light duty for my applications.<br>
Have not yet purchased tractor or blower yet. <br>

My new B7800 started leaking at the same spoat after a few hours of use. Called dealer and waited a few days for him to send service man. Didn't show, so with tractor not running, disconnected hose and tightened down fitting, wiped off hose fitting and made sure it was clean and reconnected. Hasn't leaked since.
