i have to replace a head gasket. need head tighting proceedures tourk (bad spelling) and valve settings. I tried to purchase a book for spec. Homestead tractor sent wrong book will not take back. said none availible. paid $54 bucks for a useless book. Can anyone help Thanks

I've heard of using the chain link fence drag technique to get a nice level surface. Then use the roller for seeding. I'd be interested in hearing other's opinions/experience.

Thanks Beagle. A couple of more questions for you.
1. what is WWF reinforcing? Wire mesh or the thick rebar?
2. what is "slump"?

I'm planing on using surveying equipment to make sure I've got the slope right to drain the rain off. Also useful for checking the base.

What size stone for the base?

As for the use, it will get the tractor (4310), my F250 and the wife's SUV. I've got an agreement to purchase a D4 Cat dozer from my wife's uncle, but I was planning on keeping that off the concrete.

I talked with a guy who had worked on these machines for Deere. He highly recommended them as durable machines over what I bought. I was sorely tempted, but it didn't quite fit my needs. Do you live in an area with snow? They don't have the MFWD.

Sounds very comparable to my package, assuming the differential for HST is about $2000. I like manual transmissions (call me nuts). I take delivery this Friday.

Gonna call some friends over and have a bar-b-que and dirt moving party. Oh, and if some of my "projects" get done in the process, some much the better! ; )

Seems a year or so ago someone on the forum said they were using a Worksaver spreader on a JD 2210. I pursued it briefly, but didn't end up buying a spreader so I can't tell you much more than that.

Thanks for shareing the photos , I like the big steam equipment. we have several at the (Rusty Wheels engine and tractor club ) I like watching the saw mill run , We have a large one called Miss Smoke Rings , Blows BIG smoke rings to the sky . Like I said , I enjoy looking and watching them , however , I don`t know much about them.<br>

Thanks for all of the suggestions and comments. Even tho my washer is 3600 PSI, it has a regulator that you can dial down the pressure if you need to.

The reason I got the 3600 PSI is to use a 36 inch round power washer for concrete and asphalt. It looks like a big floor buffer, but has 3 power washer heads that spin at a high rate and cleans concrete and asphalt very well. With the 3 power washer heads, you need all of the 3600 PSI. I have a long ashalt drive way that this system works well on.

I have a 4410 Deere with a 72" mmm. I love it but I mow alot. If you prefer to wait an extra day to mow, get the 60" because a 72" pushes lots of grass out one side of the deck and can begin to clump a little more quickly. I mowed alot with a 60" prior to this 72"...on 4 acres, probably only about 10 min faster...although I drove the 60" faster than I do the 72. (You know how it goes with nicer equipment...you're a little easier on it.)

If I am correct the unit is probably yellow. Or used to be anyway. That was made by the old Steiner Company. Now under the name Ventrac or Venture products. I worked there quite a number of years and used to know that product well.
Call them at 330 683 0075. Tell them Neal told you about them and ask to speak with Mark Steiner or Roy Steine if they will let you. There should be some old manuals that they might be able to copy. If I had one I would gladly send you a photocopy. The unit used standard roller chain and weld a sprockets. We did things simply back then :)

I just spoke to a dealer yesterday who informed me that the "0%" financing has now been extended from the end of May to the end of June! I have a price of $16,100 for a BX with a 60" MMM. It's the best I could do - Good or Bad?
