Well unless someone out there pops-up who has found a few laying around, looks like I am going to have to make some banjo fittings on the lathe. I will still take all I can get as it will save me a lot of lathe time, but I went ahead today and bought a chunk of steel 3/4" X 2" by two feet long to fabricate some banjos from.

Felt good to support the local steel shop; family owned for two generations (Newberg Steel, Newberg Oregon). Real nice people, and it looks like their business is doing well despite the skyrocketing steel prices. They've expanded the shop with a lot of tools and welding gear, as well as some pre-fabricated parts for making trailers (axles, fenders, hitches, lighting, plans, etc.). I am always pleased to see a small family business thriving. Last thing I bought from them, several years ago, was a heavy pipe for a regulation basketball backstop support (5"OD, 1/4" wall, 16' long), and I hardly recognized the place this time. Now that I've got a new welder and plasma cutter, I'm sure I'll be giving them more business, and I was just thrilled to see them doing so well.

The final straw, deciding to fab the banjos, was that I decided I want to make a special one with two tubing ports rotated 90 degrees apart for the low pressure "return to tank" line. It will save making up a braze TEE, and will actually make the plumbing layout a bit nicer. Not very much extra work to do once I'm making a regular one.

I will try to remember to take some pictures of the process and post them for anyone interested. Several four jaw chuck tool setups, and a boring-bar bit-holder for the inside bore. Getting a spherical profile on the body is an imperfect process on a hand-lathe (compared to a CNC), two non-linear functions on two separate hand cranks at the same time, but with a little care it can be good enough. I may get lazy and just do a diagonal chamfer.

What is the price difference between the LB1914 and the CK20 gear drive with loaders? I was quoted $12400 for the CK20 with FEL, is this reasonable?<br>

bmlekki, good idea, but alas, no. Golf ball picker-uppers work on trapping the ball between two carefully spaced revolving disc.'s, the spacing can be exact because golf balls are all made to an exact standard.

Beagle, I suspect the Horse Apples Funchy is trying to gather are a good bit larger than those your Beagle buddies leave on the lawn.

If not you definitely need to cut back on the amount of fibre you're feeding them, LOL.

We had a bad experience once using a sweeper to collect the offerings left when a Kennel Club rented a golf courses banquet facilities for a Dog Show. It rained on the last day, we went in the following day to do the cleanup.

Let's just say the rain-soaked, fresh material was not ..... condusive ..... to being picked up with a revolving broom. ;->

A local dealer has a new BL2660 snowblower for $1995. This seems like a good price. Any thoughts on the deal, the unit, or other suggestions? It's going to go on a 7510 and be used to clear snow off a gravel driveway.<br>

If it were me, I'd buy a riding mower with 42-54" deck to mow 1-2 acres. Then would purchase a CUT in the 27-35 HP range to do the other stuff. A cheap rider is less than the cost of MMM or RMM and can get around in your yard. It will have all sorts of other uses with a little trailer, etc. for the wife for gardening, plants, shrubs, etc. while you are on the larger tractor.

With a BX23, you should also consider using the loader for moving material. I have not needed a trailer due to use of the loader. Further, that allows me to keep the backhoe on for ongoing use, as well as a counter weight for the loader. Of course it depends on your needs and topography, and the volume of materials you want to move at any given time.

No, if the ground is tilled I don't think several passes is necessary. It could be detrimental. Some seed will fall into the slits made by the spikes and may be to deep to come up. One pass would be ok. Might consider two passes then drag harrow (or cyclone fence)to smooth coverage, then pass with seed in it. All depends on ground condition. There is also suppose to be a dethatcher optional equipment, haven't seen it but would be great for over seeding.

Below are Deere's specs for the 4410. They show the 4410 with the 3TNE88 engine at 101 cubic inch. They also show the 3320 with the 3TNV88 engine but at 100.2 cubic inch. I suspect that the 3TNE88 and 3TNV88 are the same engine bore and stroke wise and perhaps with some emissions changes and updates.

Thanks for all the responses. They offer a range ot options and I appreciate it.

I have been looking at the tractor from the standpoint of designing in a theft protection device. My thought was a mechanism that shot two hardened pins out from the side of the case through the slots in the wheels. Then I had to figure out a way to make certain the slots were lined up with the pins and decided on spring-loading the pins so that once engaged, the pin would shoot into the slot when it was next in line. This thing got wilder and wilder. I guess partly because years and years ago I had some contact with the Deere experimental farm in Dubuque and know that they'd try anything once.

Anyway, the idea of a chain through the same wheel slot and then around a loader post may be the simplest. I may also look at this anti-car-theft device called the club.

Thanks Terry. Went ahead and got the TZ24DA, and with the approval of the wife, traded my '99 TC33 2WD on a 2004 TC29D 4WD. Finianced both of them on the same loan!!

My wife and I love the TZX24DA. The parking brake isn't a problem to me. Just look down and you can tell whether or not it's on. Anyway, we love it and it does have the Sensitrak - an option I think is worth the money. Maybe not for mowing, but light grading or field prep will come in handy!

I've only got one of those 'oopsey' type things to nmy credit so far.

While I was under 'house arrest' after my heart attack my good wife brought me a present one day, my faithfull side-kick Deputy Dog, who is the grandson of one of my prior dogs. A very sweet gesture indeed.

But did she really think I wasn't going to play or rough-house with the dog indoors?

BTW, for future reference, when a tennis ball hits an antique Hummell figurine it will fall over, and when said figurine hits the marble floor, there really isn't enough crazy glue in the world to put it back together again.

To this day I get a dirty look if I so much as pick up a tennis ball in the house.

I would agree that you can get an accurate reading at any valve position.

However, I have also found that when you get you tire gauge full of whatever is in the tires it goops it up and doesn't work so good next time.
