I am looking to replace my LA513 on my Grand L3130 for more lift capacity and found a used LA852 FEL. Does anyone know if the LA852 would work on the 3130? Could it be modified to work with it?

Thanks, that's the answer I wanted to hear. All the Deere's now have 3 range hydros. The CNH tractors up to 33HP have a 3 range hydro but no electronics to effectively downshift on the go. The CNH 35HP and larger have a 2 range hydro with electronic downshifter button on the right fender and optional on the joystick. They call this a 4 range system. I'm not sure about the power curve, etc.

Sounds like a + for Deere in my spreadsheet!

Luckily I've never had any high-pucker experiences with heavy loads on slopes. My best advice would be to stay within the weight limits listed in the manual and pay close attention to traction conditions. Stay in 4x4 mode on slopes, it increases your braking power. You're right about backing downhill. Heaven forbid, it'd be better to get dragged down vs. run over!

In evaluating the quality of the various 7.5 foot backhoe attachments out there, I looked at the size/thickness of the boom, dipper, pivots, the size of the cylinders/rods, but mostly I looked at the weight. Most of these units run about 850 lb with a 12-inch bucket. The Prairie Dog is just under 1100#. This does not include subframes, which I believe are necessary for CUTs, but perhaps not necessary for larger tractors. One of my Dogs is mounted on a CASE 480 with a very hefty 3-pt that includes power down.

I have used a Woods subframe to mount a Prairie Dog and I am disappointed that it puts the hoe very far out the rear of the tracter....an 1100# outrigger, which certainly affects the driveablility of a 3500# tractor. It also used a bracket that blocked off the 3-pt lower attachments even when the hoe and subframe was removed.

Woods sells their subframes for $400-1000, depending on the tractor. I prefer custom, which are not hard to build.

Erik, I know of a big one held in Iowa every year. But that's dedicated to the big equipment that's typiclaly used on North American farms that are 500+ acres in size. Maybe that's what you are interested in?

I'm not aware of any for hobby farmers like me.

Based on my experience, and I'm far from an expert, although my wife might argue that point.

If you wait until they're fairly dry, a de-thatching rake dragged around slowly will gather them. After they're in a pile just get the FEL bucket close and just fire them in with a pitch fork.

Actually, in most cases my "fancy hydraulic front blade" is less than a rear blade, especially if you look at buying a top quality rear blade. You don't have the rear blade for grading though.<br>

I have a TZ24DA with the 10LA FEL and the specs are comparable to the JD2210 and Kubota BX2230. The curved boom definitely makes visibility better and is one of the reasons I opted for "blue". I think lifting is as much about technique as it is about brute force. Sometimes I use the FEL to clear the driveway but most of the time I just push snow about 80 - 100 feet and then use the rear-mounted blower to get rid of it. There's no problem pushing heavy snow until it's 3 - 4 feet high!

I've been looking at spreaders also. The advantage of a tow behind is when you come to a stop, you stop spreading. You need to clutch with the 3-pt to stop the pto, or reach behind you and close the chute.

Worksaver makes an electric compact 3-point spreader that somewhat solves this problem. It's small size makes it compatable with compacts and sub-compact tractors, but also allows you the control of the electric spreader motor. Some TSC's do stock this Worksaver model.

I'm probably getting a tow behind. ( $'s)

Looking for all your help on ideas to finish off the front of my pole building. Specifically the front entrance area. I built this barn myself. It ended up to be 30x48 with a 12x42 lean to. 14 foot sidewalls.The 4x12 area in front has the roof over it, with an overhead into the lean to area and a entry door into the 30x48. Rather than finishing that area with the red steel barn siding, was considering using stone or wood somehow. Really interested in how you all may have added individual touches to make your barn your "own". Thanks in advance for any help!

I'm looking at either a 4410 or 3520 with turf tires. JD and CNH put small tires on the front. Does anybody know if the front rims are the same as on a 4510 or 3720? 4410/3520 has 27 x 8.5 x 15 turfs and the 4510/3720 has 27 x 10.5 x 15 turfs. Don't know if the rims have the same hole spacing, centerhole and offset.<br>

My Cub Cadet 7275 has 27 x 10.5 x 15 turfs and that is the only way to go. I've never had trouble with them and can even drive over a curb with a full bucket. That size tire leaves hardly any impressions on a lawn even with a full loader.

From what I understand, the new 20 series 3520 is replacing the older 4410 model. Does anybody know what improvements have been made? Understand a new 300X series FEL comes with the 3520.

Good job on finding that. I knew I read (I think on clark howards web sight) that a company was coming out with a cheap system. That is perfect for absentee land owners. You can check where your rig is once a week from home and it will cost you $1 a month. Good cheap piece of mind.
