You can see from earlier posts my 3-point was boke then repaired in Sept. (said crud clogging 3pt valve) Today, same thing, 3pt wont go up or down) so this time I am going to try to clean the valve myself to save $400. Anyone know how I get to the 3-pt valve (where is it)? Do I have to break the tractor in half to get to it?<br>

Has anyone ever tried the Bobcat "RTV"? They have a couple of them on campus with Curtis cabs and front sweepers.

The big selling point for me was the difference in the transmissions.<br>

Last I heard, everybody out there is still using rubber drive belts to get the power to the wheels. Belts become troublesome when exposed to water and must be replaced when worn. Kubota adapted the proven 3 speed HST from the 2910 class of tractors to drive the wheels.<br>

The Kawasaki might be quicker (not faster)due to its lighter weight and probably gets a bit more horsepower to the wheels. The RTV transmission takes more horsepower to run.<br>

I think the Kubota design makes it easier to fit with accessories such as windshields and cabs and I believe the are more work vehicle type options for the RTV. <br>

Both diesels, Kawasaki and Kubota are about the same price as basic models... roughly $10K.

Another feature that enters the realm at the 4110 level is a true position control on the 3 point hitch.

This is a very useful item in my book.

Oneace has a good point about a Toro Dingo. And you can find reasonably cheap. Around here Home Depot Rental gets rid of all their equipment on a 3-year schedule. They offered me a Dingo in good shape with a brand new engine and a bucket for $6000. And they would even throw in a hydraulic self-lifting/dropping trailer valued at over $6000 for free. I waited a week too long and it was sold. They will even let you get a credit card and pay for it that way.

While I'm not familiar with the condor brand, per se, 4 blade bush hogs.

They were an attempt to make a single cutter that would do finish cutting and rough cutting all in one. It failed.

The physical design of a bush hog is such that on anything less than pool table flat ground they will tear up the turf if you lower them to 'finish cutting' heights. They simply do not have the anti-scalp design or wheels necessary.

As for cutting faster, or better, that is good question. As for better, probably they would leave a slightly nicer looking cut, but only if the blades were kept very sharp and well balanced.

As for faster, not likely in any significant manner, it takes a certain amount of horsepower to cut a given volume of standing grass, period. They only way to practically cut more grass is more horsepower.

I solved the problem of constant adjustment by using a hydraulic top link. This way you have infinite on-the-fly adjustment from the seat, not only for the mower, but for anything else. You will need rear hyd. remotes for it though.

Also, did you get the 52"?
The woods web site lists the 40" for use with the 'limited' cat 1 hitch; the 52" for use with a cat 1. But it also lists the 40" for hp ranges of 15-20 and the 52" for use with 20-30 hp.
My dealer has recommended this tiller (the 40"), and says they have some coming in the end of march that I can take a look at. He gave a rough quote of 1100$.

Okay, I'm not much of a Hockey fan, so it matters little to me. BUT, when the NFL went on strike a while back they brought out the scabs and played some of the best amature football in a while. Why not the same thing here. It would seem to motivate the players "union."

Now if basketball went on strike, that would be awesome!!!

Depends on which dealer you use. A low volume dealer cannot afford to give much more than 12% discount off of MSRP, while a high volume dealer can afford 15% or more.

Building up soil around the tree trunk can be as deadly as girdling a tree. I think grinder is talking about the roots growing up and on top of the soil if this is the case he will be fine just dont come up the bark on the tree more than a few inches if that. <br>
In my opinion I think your going to do very little to the packed ground under the trees with the disk. Unless the ground is semi loose to begin with most light duty disks are not heavy enough to really dig in deep on hard packed soil. Around 100# per disk would be needed and this is not feasable with the smaller disks. Of course throw all that out if your soil is light or sandy then it may work just fine. If you have a box scraper with scarifers you could break up some of that hard packed ground with just the scarifers (that is Plots1 little trick I used last year) It sure helped my disk 880# in soil that was tilled just the year before. With out doing this it barely scratched the surface with any vegitation at all on it. Start hauling in the top soil bud! LOL you will save yourself alot of work in the long run and probably have a nicer yard in the end. <br>
PS Dont rototill it unkess you plan to pack it before seeding. The darn yard will settle really uneven. I learned that one the hard way years ago. <br>

I'm pretty sure the 1861 was using the Red color hy-trans
fluid, but correct me if I'm wrong. Cub has been using the synthetic blend since the intro of the 3000 series and I think that was in 1999-2000 ?? It works very well, dosent lose color or foam up, and keep the temps down. It looked exactly the same after 150 hrs on my machine...The newer Fluid from Cub is more like 20w-50 sythetic from what I have heard, but so far nobodys found a exact replacement.

You can also have problems with some ground engaging equipment, box blades and grader blades. A 17" moldboard height will probably be a problem since the limited lift height will keep you from being able to comfortably lift the blade off the ground. There are sveral manufacturers that now offer 12" moldboards for the subcompact models.

I used to have a sub-compact, and had to be very careful with the equipment i bought for it. I even had to cut three inches out of a middle-buster to be able to lift it high enough to clear the ground. KingKutter now offers a completew line of XB equipment, built to fit the sub-compact limited cat-1 hitch.
