Out here in Indiana they didnt have them on the tractors,I guess you guys are ahead of us in pennsylvania,they wanted more than I wanted to pay for them,cant remember how much.I had a ford 8n for 20 years and it was alot easier hooking up to that old 1948 then it is to this machine.But it sure is nice when your pulling out logs and the wheels dont slip I was amazed at the power over my little 8n.

Great! So I take it that the consensus here is that I should use a poly. The builders more than likely did not do that because.. Hmmm They did not have too, its not their house, it was cheaper and faster not to. LOL Will do on that poly. I have used minwax many many times. The polyacrylic I believe is the best for light color soft woods with no stain base to it. The oil base will tend to yellow or amber it. (hint: The whole interior of my second house is pine and much of it was left natural color) LOL. My concern was with the steps being used all the time. I guess I should look into what is used on wood floors and go with that. Thanks alot guys/gals although you all just talked me into anouther 2 days of work I really do appreciate the input!

The key phrase you mentioned was "PROPERLY matched engine/tranny/software". I have yet to see one manufactured by an OEM one of the big 3 auto manufacturers. They can be modified at great expense but there goes the warranty.

"Lots of buses, dump-trucks, and cement mixers are." Not from what I have seen in our county school motorpool garage or during my 21 years with Uncle Sammy in Army motorpools. Although the Army goes with automatic because the soldiers tear up manuals MUCH faster do to negligence.

I would agree with you that for 95% of the buying public that auto trans. is probably the best bet but not for me.

It looks like we agree but see it from somewhat different angles. ;o)

I am no diesel mechanic but I've been told by two of them that blue smoke means air is being sucked into the fuel injections somewhere along the way. Never stopped to think about this much. As I said, mine smokes a bit on start up and then stops and runs like a top. With nearly 2,000 hours on this machine, I do not have any problems with brakes, tranny, engine, etc. You need to lube the gear selector handles every once in a while but that's my only complaint.

I have owned a Branson 4020 for 1 yr now and am coming up on 200 hrs. For the most part, I really enjoy it. However, I believe the rods in the hydraulic system of the backhoe to be a little undersized. I was digging in ground with approx. 4" frost when I bent the bucket ram rod into an L shape. I now have the 4 speed tranny stuck in 2nd gear and haven't figured out yet how to get it out. If someone else is having any of these problems, please let me know. Also have to put chains on the front tires to blow any kind of heavy snow with a five foot blower.

Well I cansee a problem in this line of thinking... The NH is a CUT while the JD is a utility tractor ... when comparing it must be taken into consideration that a compact utility w/ same hp rating will not do the work of a utility tractor... The JD will lift more weight and at a higher rate of speed because of the type of pumps... The JD also has a independent ps pump which is where those numbers were quoted from.. The NH is a fine tractor but it will not compare to a heaver framed and larger capacity load carrying or lifting capability...of the Deere..

From what I understand we have not reached the pinnacle of uses for fossil fuels...We need more of a public concern to stop buying the poor fuel mileage large SUVs.. I see more of those type vehicles w/ a lone driver and it is usually a woman w/no one else on board... We as a nation need to stop our selfishness and force the auto manufactures to build a more economical vehicle...Remember the sixties when all the rage was mileage before it was nipped in the bud by the oil companies...It really is up to the populus to get the manufactures to start down a different path....

I do not know what you can get in your area for a 3130
with gear trans. I assume it is 4WD and in good shape.
A new L3130 4WD with HST and 513 loader is just under $18K, less tax.

Maybe $12K-13K? Not having HST hurts when you are selling.

Several years ago, my wife's best friend had gotten a new snowmobiling jacket. She said it smelled new and "not right." She had me run my snowmobile in the garage with the jacket so it could pick up some of exhaust smell.

Outrageous. Two short hoses (vs steel pipes) and quick couplers should be $50-75. JD likes those steel pipes. I prefer flexible hoses.

Maybe the $1150 includes labor to install?

Years ago when I bought my first Kubota, I walked into my
local Kubota dealer and asked for a price on the kit to add an auxilliary valve. They said $1200. Turns out I could just plumb a few lines to the power beyond port of the loader valve and add my own 2-spool valve, which I got for $75. I found out later that I could buy a Gearmore adapter block for $90 to connect to the hydraulic circuit back by the 3-point valve. A few hoses and I was set. $1200? Makes no sense.

I have not noticed any differance in unwannted e-mail since downloading and using this software.

In a technical sence I think the program just ties into what you already have, word, excell, etc. I've noticed that things I've added to ieSpell are automatically in the Word and Excell spell checkers.

Thanks again for the help. I called the dealer today and ordered the quick attatch. The thing is, this is my first tractor, I'm a mechanical guy but I do'nt know what I need in a tractor. I did a lot of homework so I hope I'm making the right decision with this package.

What kind (%) of depreciation can I expect per year? Assuming average use on a well maintained machine.
