Murf (and of course others still reading this thread),
Neutral IS a current carrying conductor, always has been. It's bonded to ground to provide a zero volt potential difference between the neutral conductor and ground. This ensures that each of the "hot" lines will always be a maximum of 110v potential difference from ground. Only one connection/bond to ground is permitted and its at the service entrance, this ensures that the equipment ground conductor (bare ground wire or EGC) does not behave as a parallel current conductor for neutral current.

On a floating neutral generator:
If, as you suggest you employ a transfer switch that opens the neutral (as well as the supply side L1 and L2) you have disconnected the generator neutral from its ground reference and L1 or L2 could float to 220v (say between L1 and ground) while the other leg could be at 0v (between L2 and ground). By this action you have created the "earth to neutral voltage" you spoke of. The neutral is REQUIRED to remain bonded to ground in this configuration, opening the neutral at the transfer switch breaks the connection. See diagram 8 in the web link I posted. An excerpt of their explanation is pasted below, BTW its a Canadian company, read their narritive and take a look at the diagrams.

IF on the other hand you have a bonded neutral generator you are required to open the neutral conductor at the transfer switch. The bottom line is that in order to be code compliant the type of generator determines the type of transfer switch.

neutral conductors would result in a circuit that
does not comply with the rules of the CEC. In
stand-by power mode, a circuit exists in which
the system voltage from the generator could
float on each phase. In the most extreme case
240Vac would appear on one phase and 0Vac
on the second phase, potentially resulting in
damage to any 120Vac equipment operated in
the home.

Checking with local customers the BX1500's seem to need to be plugged in when the temp drops below 15 degrees. The other model BX's seem to be ok down to zero. Block heaters would should be used any way when cold just to make it easier on the tractor.

Do you find you are having issues where temperature is or has become an issue? Or are you just curious, or making sure operating ranges aren't being exceeded? As clever as your ideas/thoughts seem to be, do you have a tilt meter, and if so, where did you mount it?

In Central Michigan ag and woods runs about $1300 - $1700 per acre. Was $500 per acre twenty years ago and the locals thought that was nuts!

Land may get cheaper if people have to move to where there is still jobs. Montcalm county just south of me has lost about 4000 thousand jobs and will lose 3000 more this year.

Also winter is here. Just got up to 40 today and I thought spring has arrived! Didn't even were a jacket. Two weeks ago we had three weeks of 0 to -10 every day and night. Grinder is right, cold weather keeps the population down and makes it a nice area to live.

Yes, The way I read it is you are suppose to gap it 1/8 " all around.
Now can you imagine doing that on a large roof and staying sq.?
Three ply would be about the cheapest crap you could buy.
I use 5 ply fir 1/2 5/8 3/4. The grains are alternated in assembly and glue up.
OSB vs Plywood has a great deal to due with the time of year
and how fast you can get it covered. Either product should be asap. Yes, OSB is weather resitant until the surface is
penetrated or cut. I have noticed the swelling of the edges
where I have nailed it or cut it. Depending on the intended use, this can be a problem. example. OSB with uneven edges
will need another layer of a leveling product (luan type)etc
before installing a finished floor. 3/4 5ply fir plywood
underlayment and your ready to go with most floors.
There are several flooring products that are not warrantied over OSB.
The uneven edges will also transfer to your asphalt shingles
if the roof gets to wet before they are installed.
When using it on sidewalls for sheathing there are other issues to contend with. The one that worries me the most
is creating another vapor barrier on the outside wall due to the use of resins and wax in the OSB, Plyood does have
resin as well but do to the nature of the wood needed to make it(tight grains of large tree's vs chips from fast growing (10 yrs to harvest) trees used for osb and other chip board products. The plywood will dry out better.
So that any moisture getting past your vapor barrier
INSIDE your house will be able to get through the plywood easier. There have bveen lawsuits settled on this issue with some types of siding. Mold !
Google Plywood VS OSB I found a couple of unbiased university studies that were interesting.
Remember this, most decisions in building are profit motivated, especially in large subdivisions.

flat land in delaware county? but there again on top of Delhi everything is flat. I grew up in Davenport and realy dont remember any flat land other than in Davenport Center between the the two brideges or outside of Oneonta on rt 23 but with 15 acres even a 4100 might be small.

I was out looking at the website and saw the new line of CR tillers. What's the difference? Lighter gage steel in construction? I see 24 tines in 40 inches for the CR-40 vs 24 tines in 34" for the MR-100. Is there a difference in tine diameter or just spacing? I was considering buying the MR-120 last fall, but they were out of stock. Now I see the price increase considerable. Haven't received reply yet about CR series pricing. FYI, I have a Kubota bx2200

Just from some of my observations I would try and find both tractors and operate them under your needs. I've found tractors with bigger hydraulic systems by gallons per minute but not as responsive or as powerful when it comes to working the outlets or a loader. The same with the power steering pumps not steering at an idle with a full bucket or even a part bucket often needing full RPMs. Pick your needs and judge accordingly.

Anyone looking for a Kubota B2910 4x4 hydro with loader and only 200 hours. There is one listed on ebay right now and I guarantee it is real. My Big problem is trying to find a gun that will work on the MM 250 without going to Miller. I though John Deere was high ,but man Miller takes second to no one. I was told that BOC made a Generic that fit Miller, but there is none around here I'm afraid to buy one on Ebay, Anyone got any idea where Generics can be purchased with out buying an adapter?

Have you noticed the snap ring that's holding the bearing in the cast housing??? This should allow you to carefully punch the shaft and bearing out from the housing if you haven't already done so.
