As a eletrical contractor I Have to say Never back feed a house, it can kill. The transformer out on the street works both ways if it reduces the voltage for your house it can increase the voltage from you generator. Now there are a lot of good tranfer switches out there for all sizes of generators. they will disconnect the two hot leads for the circuits you want on the generator. I have never seen a disconect that also disconnects the neutral or ground wires. Here is agood link for small generator transfers.

I seen how tightening up the pivot bolts so that the ROPS can barely be folded can reduce rattles and squeaking. Also, I am assuming that the clevis pins that lock the ROPS in position have rubber washers under them that also preload the snap pins? Not sure if your tractor is set up this way but many I have seen are. If you are needing rubber washers for your pins, standard garden hose washers can work nicely (depending on pin size, of course) and are for sure cheaper than the dealer would charge for the real thing. (Use the soft rubber kind, not the harder plastic ones.) It doesn't take much movement at all in any of the parts to make a lot of noise.

Thanks Ken I guess I do remember that comment somewhere back there.

I just left the thought with the lug nut problem on the very early models. As I recall one side had a problem and it was finially tracked down to overtapped holes or something like that.

The biggest grumble I have with the lugnuts is they are behind the little dinky wheel weights.

I use the hoe quite a bit and usually only use the stick to move the tractor. So the hoe usually has the tractor in the air moving fwd and side to side. I know that is not how the book says to do it. But I am comfortable with it. I have not seen any looseness between the tractor and hoe with all of the stress I put on it.

I sold my 1991 3650 a month ago without backhoe and with standard shuttle shift and 762 hours for $10,000 with a 5' rotary cutter and a grader box.

Only one filter as far as I know. You should drain the clutch housing if you use the tractor in rainy weather. There is a simple plug to be removed on the housing. That will be explained in the operators manual.

Limit the budget, is the best thing indeed. Why spend 10K or more on a wedding when 1K will do just fine and you can put 9K in mutual funds so your grandkids can go to collage in 18-years with 304K (do the math).

I agree with DRankin about rap (except the oral sex thing, whats wrong with that?) that shit needs to go away, it's a big negitive in our country and it leads kids down the wrong road.

dmp, aren't you clever. I used to investigate companys like that when I traded stocks, never thought of it on Ebay. I guess he could get nailed pretty easy if JD wanted to do something about it. I know HD would in a heart beat. Thanks for the heads up. I think I'll call the dealer and see what their getting a copy.

I put a Curtis soft side on mine with the Curtis heater. No fogging and warm enough for shirt sleeves down to around +10, then a light jacket is fine. I do 10 driveways at a time for my neighbors and am out for 2 hours or more.

My plan is to pull in some wires to the kitchen and mud room sinks and hook some more sensors into the existing alarm system, but having a couple of those battery powered alarms seems like a good idea until I can get roundtoit.

If you are going to try to heat the floor with a liquid,
you may want to ask about a buried storage tank.
A friend has two 1000 gal tanks buried in stone hooked into his hot water system. He can let it shutdown for several days and still have all the heat he wants. Just a thought.

The two leaders in this market both offer base tractors and deluxe models. Depending on you and your uses will seperate the right tractor for yu. The basic models don't offer much for electronics so you don't need self diagnostics as everything is more mechanical instead of electric over hydraulic for controls. The basic models do offer a reliable product but without the bells and whistles. Your dealer should be able to point out the differences when you visit him. The tractor needs to fit you and your tasks so take a good look and talk with your dealer as I've got very happy customers on both styles that swear by them but thats because they fit the needs of the operator.

This is a old post being revisited and hard to tell if the original problem wasn't solved all ready. It is very easy to remove the top cover off the center console with the four screws to see where it is leaking from on the top but therre is also an external tube that from time to time causes a problem that might look or be the culprit here as they crack and will spray in different dirextions making it difficult to detect the exact leak.

Thanks for all the great suggestions, I went with the blade because I just don't like the snow in my face when the wind blows. I don't have a traction problem at all, this BX2230 is awesome!!! I took the hoses and had them shorted for $10 and it looks and works great now. Anyone ever interested in selling just the FEL (LA211) without the valve please let me know. I am looking for the loader/arms/mounts.
