The 47 backhoe has been great on my 4310. The dealer told me the 48 would work as well but there were some areas that needed to be reinforced when going with the 48.

I've owned just about one of everything. We current have 6 atvs. This includes two Polaris'. Depending on how much work you want to do with it, you might look at the Polaris ATP. My dad has one and really likes it. For long term low maintenance, I'm not sure you can beat Honda, but you pay more up front for this in the big units and sacrifice some performance. I just sold a 1986 Honda that we've had for 10 years. Other than adjust the valves, I had to do no other engine work.

Everything that has been said so far is right on the money. Here's an additional thought, although I'm sure it's not something my lawyer would want me "recommending." So I'm not recommending it. That said, I found it useful a few months ago when I first got my tractor that I would very carefully and slowly -- and UNINTENTIONALLY -- lift a wheel off the ground in a controlled situation such as trying to lift a log in a hillside situation. In a few instances when I would feel a wheel begin to lift up (and see my life pass before me) I would quickly let off on the load and the wheel would settle back down without any harm. Again, I don't recommend that trial and error method, but it did give me much better feel of what it REALLY feels like when one begins to tip. A couple of times I actually purposely did some things under load on the FEL that I throught probably would make me start to tilt, but VERY slowly and carefully so I could release the pressure before anything bad happened. By the time I got around to doing serious work, I pretty much knew what my rig would and wouldn't do on a hillside. I'm no longer too worried about it tipping over in the shed, but continue to be worry abound running over that unseen rock or stump that can quickly and unexpectedly turn a marginal situation into a full-blown tilt. I try to keep a close eye out, but still have run over some surprises that gave me a scare. I don't think you can ever be too careful about that.

Only one bit of info I can pass that took me 19 years of weeded bliss to figure out. The longer you go with out, the less you miss it. The powerful messmorizing effects that (what you were talking about) used to have on us young bucks, just dont seem to have the same pull as it used to. Maybe that is why after a buck gets past his 2 1/2 year old birthday he gets harder AND HARDER TO HARVEST.
I do think it is a old trick they use, give in just enough to keep em under control.

Maybe they should have put Diesel #1 on the pump instead of Kerosene. That would confuse the people that buy Kero for their little space heaters.<br>

The fuel I buy for our road tractors and off road equipment the terms are the same. Only difference, I see when looking at the numbers, is the red dye. I'll have to ask the supplier for new MSDS, centane and cloudpoint paperwork. Mine is 6 years old.<br>

Technially speaking the "new" on road is suspose to be refined differently to remove more of the sulfur. So heating oil and off road should have a higher sulfur content.<br>

We cut our on road #2 at 30-50% with #1 or kerosene, off road is cut at 50-70%. This year we are doing ok with on road at 30% but I do have room for another 4,000 gal of straight kero just in case.<br>

Kerosene/Diesel#1 is just refined a little more to remove more of the waxes which are the problem with jelling during the cold snaps.<br>

Ask the station/supplier for the MSDS, the centane rating and cloudpoint paperwork on the fuel you are buying.

Whew! Neutocrete is some expensive stuff. It is concrete mixed with vermiculite for light weight and so it won't flow. For 2" thick, $9 per square foot to start, plus cleanup, sealing, drain, etc. I can build a garage for less than that. The salesman even said you have to be in a lot of pain to justify it. I am going to look into shotcrete or gunite? like they reline silos and pools with. anybody know how much that runs. He also does the icynene for $3 sq ft and 2 lb. closed cell for $3 sq ft, and polyurea for $6 sq ft.

I am also in the beginning stages of building forks for my 4300. I even went out and bought a whole forklift to scavenge parts from. I got it for $300 with 2 sets of forks, 3 stage mast and side shift. I planned to use the carriage and forks but forklift carriages are very heavy duty and very heavy so I am just keeping the forks and copying my skid steer fork carriage. It just uses a piece of 2"x4" rectangle tube at the bottom, 4" side down, and 2x2 at the top and sides with 1/2" bar stock welded on for the forks to slide on. There is some other metal attached for sides and backguard.

I got a 45x75x14 all steel I-beam building with 4/12 pitch, poly carb skylights, two framed openings 12x12 and 14x12, a 4' personel door with lock and hardware, gutters and down spouts, 2 operating ridge vents delivered for around 18-19k. There were a couple of minor things missing and a couple of beam holes in the wrong spot, but not too much. Before I could get them to send me the missing door trim, they were out of business, but the building is great.

And I could have saved more, If I had assembled it myself. I don't know what their price is now, but I did talk with one of their personnell the other day and he said that they have a few tractors on display,, but that most were sold before they get off the ship in New Orleans. Anyone interested, contact me and I will turn you on to my dealer.

It sounds like the oil is leaking from the relief valves at the top of the hydro. There are pins at the top which are pushed down by the release lever when you are pushing the tractor. One valve is in the reverse circuit and one in the forward circuit. Newer tractors and the replacements have automatic releases with vent holes rather than pins. I don't know of any repair kits or repair procedures. They will have to be replaced.

I have the 4110 with the 410 FEL and the widest bucket, 60 or 63 (whatever) and 95% of the time I love having the wide bucket. My driveway is 600 feet long and paved, buzzing down there with a few inches of snow or moving branches and gravel... you name it... it is nice and it is perfect for grading dirt and such. I do have the R4's too, but "seat of the pants" tells me that with very wet dirt of heavy ballast stone you can scoop more than it is comfortable with. I also have the 46 backhoe - which is 1000 lbs on the back - that is great counter weight which may be helping my situation.

a friend of mine has 3 buildings for his buisness , they are 75x125 metal insulated, with sheetrock. the first 2 are oil forced hot air with programable thermostates that lower the temperture after everyone leaves at night. The third building he was talked into radiant floor heat. After it was fully adjusted it usses less oil then the first 2. he also keeps the temp. a little less then the other 2 but it feels nicer.Something else he found out was that it doesn't spread the dust around as much.

The power beyond kit is the hydraulic circuit for backhoes, log splitters, etc that have their own control levers. The 3rd valve kit is just another pair of outlets like on the loader, with a control lever that goes on the right fender just in front of the cup holder. The 2 kits are independant of each other and you can add one or the other or both, it is just a shame to take the tractor apart to only add one kit if you think you may want both.
