Most tractors have the option of having additional valves added for remotes to the rear of the tractor to end your problem.

I've also stopped watching the coverage from Iraq. The media is doing exactly what the "insurgents" want them to do. Ignore the good and highlight the bad because sensationalism sells. Good deeds in Iraq won't sell to the public who likes to see carnage. Also helps them avoid being labled pro-government tools.

I'm convinced. I think I'll be patient and continue to look for the right stuff. No sense in getting something I won't be happy with, even if the price is OK, which, apparently, this is not. Lose/Lose.

I was at a Speedway station today. <br>
As I was leaving I thought I would drive by the pump and see what their price was for diesel.<br>
Got to the pump and the sign said <br>
Number 1 Kerosene. <br>

Undyed - untaxed <br>
Off Road use only<br>

The price dial on the pump read $2.50 for A gallon. To the right of this was a sticker stating tax will be added. <br>
The funny thing is I had a 5 gal can I had just filled with diesel at BP for $2.05 a gallon, tax included <br>
Another thing I don't get about Speedway is the pump with the Kerosene sign on it today is the same pump that I got diesel out of back in Sept.<br>

Seems to me Speedway is selling the same product as BP for around $3.00 per gallon by the time you add tax. <br>

KYVette, those are some nice shots of the ice. Reminds me I should do some scanning of the snow drifts I had last year.

Wind was so bad I would wear the helmet setup I used for snowmobiling in Northen Minnesota. Helmet and googles. Keeps the wind off your head and helps you avoid frostbite. May look a bit goofy, but I was warm!

Lbrown, that's my biggest fear right now. I'm more afraid of her finding it first than I am of the snake.

I thought I had set a rat trap in that room before I left. So I asked my wife if I had. She didn't know. So I said I was going to go get my shoes on. I came back into the room (no shoes) and she was standing on a chair!!

If I was an evil minded person and owned a rubber snake, I could be having some fun. Unfortunately, I don't own a rubber snake...

I have 2 stlyes...one style is what the murf meister is describing which is a round 8" foot, the other is acually a miniature ski its about 3" wide & maybe 8" long. The shafts that they are welded to are the same size to be universal with any plow.

the relationship is that shibaura has built motors /parts for Ford/New Holland tractors for quite some time. Shibaura can be really difficult to find parts for when talking with "grey market" part suppliers. Some models do match up with other compact ford's, which is also tough to find information on....I have sold a few 2640's, and I believe that to be a good model. It is one of the more common, which means that you should be able to find parts. A great starting place is www.bestusedtractors.com. They have a grey market parts page with some suppliers on it.

You also need to remember that JD and other manufacturers are selling the same models outside of the US. Anywhere but here (and perhaps our friends to the North) horsepower means squat, it's all kilowatts. So you have even less incentive to include hp in the model number.

Even though it was raining pretty good, after I got it out, I lowered the FEL so the front wheels were off the ground and hosed off the tires and underside of the tractor. I think I got most of the mud off. Hopefully no damage.

I bought a tilt meter made for tractors. The guage shows green from 0 to 15 degrees, yellow 15 to 20, and red above 20. Those are, of course, just relative numbers. But those numbers pretty much correspond to my pucker factor numbers. I try never to go above 20 and only creep along when I do.

Another thing to consider is your equipment needs. If you have to bolt equipment to the floor you don't want to accidentally puncture a heat tube.

Thanx for the info..I looked into changing the tires to the 14.9x24's(same Height,just narrower)..but...the L48 uses an 8 lug 15 inch wheel..The 14.9's use a 6 lug 13 inch wheel....If all else fails I will definately look into the aircraft cable fix...

That's doin it the wrong way. On new years day I let my neighbor help me take out stumps for about 5 hours. Today he got to help me again for an hour or two.

It would take an $18000.oo deposit to borrow mine.

Not sure on your modell, but there is a pin where the hydraulic control lever connects to the valve control arm. If the control arm on the front of the spool is rotating freely from the hydraulic control lever , there is something wrong with the linkage, probably a sheared pin. The control arm should move the spool through the valve body. Take another look at the linkage and see if the control arm is rotating inside the sleeve on the bottom end of the control lever, or if it is loose from the housing.

I'm not sure this is as clear as I would like for it to be, but since there is no noticeable engine lugging or hydraulic system noise, It doesn't seem like you are actuating the control valve. Even when the system works right, there is some noticeable load on the engine. You either have no fluid flow at the valve, which is less likely, or your linkage isn't actuating the valve.

A more remote cause would be that the PB line from your FEL valve isn't functioning. The PB on the FEL completes the hydraulic circuit towards the rear of the tractor, including the 3-pt system. If there isn't flow from the PB, you wouldn't have flow to the 3-pt. This could dead-head the pump causing pump failure.

I would start with a good look at the 3-pt control linkage and make sure that the control valve is operating properly when the lever is shifted.
