I use the 75/90 gear oil and am quite happy with it's performance.

I have clients in the south that use the Heavy Duty Oil Stabilizer straight, but in cold weather that stuff can be almost cut into cubes with a knife.

The Lucas products are very widely available through auto parts stores and departments, you should even be able to find them in places like Wally World.

All of their products are top drawer stuff. I poured some power steering stop leak of theirs into the car of a visitor a while back, they didn't want to do a big repair far from home, so they just wanted a band-aid to get the car back home. I had never used or put much faith into that type of stuff before. The guy said it not only stopped the leak but made such an improvement of the feel of the steering he stopped along the way home and put some Lucas stuff into the tranny and the engine also. He absolutely raved about the stuff.

The other thing I have noticed is that very few FEL's come equipped with a flow divider/combiner.

This is a rather simple device which splits a hydraulic flow into two exact halves regardless of the load being unequal or not. On the FEL there are two lift cylinders, they are plumbed in parrallel, so the fluid is free to take the path of least resistance. That means if there is more weight on the left side of the bucket, the right hand cylinder will try to go up faster than the left, this is what twists the arms.

With a $100 valve in between the loader control valve and the cylinders this could not happen, the divider would limit the fluid going into the lighter loaded cylinder and hold it back to match the speed of the heavier loaded cylinder.

Instead manufacturers choose to depend on a slightly more robust construction to prevent this from happening, and in the average situation this does work.

The problem is when someone tries to over do it with an unbalnced load, such as lifting a heavy object from a hook mounted off to one side of the bucket.

The main portion of my shop is 40' x 50' with 16' ceilings.

I have a row of 3 8' x 2 tube (12 tubes in total) fluorescent fixtures down the centerline of each bay. They are hanging about 3' below ceiling height on chains. It is not enough usable light and I plan on changing it this summer.

The reason for the lack usable light is two-fold.

First the lights are running down the center of each bay, anything in that bay is directly under the light and therefore the sides and bottom are in shadow.

Secondly the entire shop is wood lined and has not been painted, I also hope to do that this summer, as a result there is very little reflected light to kill shadows.

I was in a friends shop recently which is the same size as mine. His is lit by 3 rows of lights not two. Each row has 5 fixtures which are 4' x 2 bulbs. There is one row mounted on brackets facing down at a 45� angle at about the 12' height on each wall, the 3rd row is in the center of the two bays hanging down on chains. All lights have reflective shields behind the bulbs to direct the light down and outwards.

I think the position and direction of the lights, combined with the colour and reflectance of the interior make the biggest difference, more so than sheer numbers do.

Mark - we agree but we cant seem to figure out where exactly to pack the grease in the valve. i didnt see anything on the bottom of my valve that resembled what art was speaking of.

If you are thinking lawn, snow and ice then Turf is the way to go. Since the machine you are looking at is so heavy even Turf tires will leave some marking on a lawn that is wet, or too sharp or fast of a turn on dry lawns as well. Usually turfs on this size machine are much more agressive than what you would see on a subcompact. You have to figure out where your maximum use is.

I don't agree with your statement. There can only be very slight differences in reservoir volume when I'm using my PTO pumped BH. It constantly circulates until a valve is pulled. Fluid is redirected to one of several rams but as one side of the ram fills, the other side empties. So flow back into the reservoir is constant.

It's my understanding through any dealer, so I would locate the one you plan to visit and purchase for years to come the chosen one. I know this is the case, since my machine was originally purchased in Michigan and now the warranty is in Indiana.

Not sure of the precise torque numbers, but you are correct in that the rear is self contained within the 3.5 gallons of hydro fluid. One other thing you might check on are those zerks along the front end and on the u-joints on the drive shaft.

If we are a structural or mechanical engineer performing design and loading studies for a public facility, which requires a PE stamp, I would understand performing all of these calculations.

Otherwise, if we know the working load required, multiply by 2 and acquire a bolt rated for that load. This provides a safety factor of two.

If you are dealing with potential life/death situations, hire a consultant engineer, you'll sleep better.

Check with a dealer in your area. You may be able to get a new one with a three year warranty for close to what you are thinking of offering, depending on your location, as prices do vary some from location to location. If you will use all of the attachments/implements, than the used one may be a good value, sure wouldn't hurt to get some quotes on new before you move. I have the 330HST and 360DTC with shuttle in stock and have played with them some and they are nice machines.

Many of the 2 cylinder Yanmar tractors use a thermosiphon system. Heat rises causing the coolant to circulate.

rman476 - I love the links and since I borrow equipment sometimes, one of the other systems that sometimes require modifications to the equipment didn't seem to suit my needs. Northern Hydraulics sells these as Part #12610.
Their major fault in my opinion is the lack of a good way to set the lower link spacing, but that really isn't a problem since you must dismount to hook up the upper link & PTO anyway.

Murf - Its hard to see but it doesnt appear that there is a hydraulic cylinder attached to the end of the chain so how does the chain lift the blade?

I don't use them. All our implements are on caster carts. I just roll them into position and hook up. But, if you have store your implements on the ground, I believe they would be worth every penny.

Safety shutoffs are great, but take time to work. After what I've seen my cutter do to small trees... I don't even consider not using the seat belt with it or the tiller.

Admittedly, I should always use it, but sometimes loading brush on trailer & in bucket manually I get lazy and don't buckle up every time on & off. Just look at kwschumm 's roll over photos.

Hope this isn't famous last words...

I agree, the sub-compacts are great machines. I had one and traded for a B7800. It is still small enough to be versatile, but the extra capacity of the B-Series has really come in handy landscaping the property.

I have the RTV as many of you know. I want a full cab enclosure. I know you can get the one from Kubota that is made by Curtis. I had that one ofr my Mule and hated it. I also know Essex is making one, but they are a month or so out on production. I have done a search and nothing comes up. Maybe one of you might have an idea or know of a place. <br>
I have lots of fun in these forums and have learned alot. Thank ya'll for being so helpful.
