In my state, right after the aggressive military action in Iraq and into the re-building phases the price of OSB went thru the roof. I believe it was because of supply and demand but may be wrong? Now I am faced with a question on what to do. With the recent devestation with the psunami (spelling bad?) Does anyone have any thoughts on if our price for the OSB products will rise again? The last time the price went up it was around $6 a sheet to begin with and got as high as $22. That is huge. I will more than likely have to move and build a new house this spring/summer. I dont believe in walls made with foam and in my opinion the house will have osb all around it including the flooring t&g. I was thinking about buying the osb NOW and if something changes (like I go back to work) before the move is finalized I would bring it back or sell on the side to others at a great price)<br>
Anyone here think the same as me and think the price is going to skyrocket? Do you think we will not be sending osb over to them for the rebuilding? Kinda in a bind here since the price of my new house may be 2-5K more if I dont buy and it does go up that high again. That increase wont break me of course but it may a great way to save a large amount of cash fast?<br>

You might try a short airline trip somewhere just to give the Misses a taste of the BS, stress, and aggrivation she will be in for with airline travel now a days. She might change her mind and come to the conclusion that MANY already have which is that it is just NOT worth the hastle. Vacation trips should be fun and relaxing. A nice adventure so to speak.........NOT a cluster (I think you get the idea for the word that goes here). I went through a similar thing like this wife my wife about going to Germany. After she went to visit with her mother there, she swore she would NEVER do it again.

A good heavy grader box (box blade as some call it) for starters. Woods makes a nice one. A light box won't hold up and won't cut well. I use a 6' box that Massey Ferguson used to make that weighs in around 900#. I believe that either Gannon or Gill may be making it now.
Next I'd probably invest in a pulverizer. I like the one that Landpride makes in the 25 series. The tines are flat steel vs. the spikes that alot of less expensive pulverizers use. The spikes tend to either break or bend when you hit any large buried rocks.
That will get you started. After that there are all kinds of nifty attachments you could look at (Rock hound, Harley rake, etc.). Good luck.

beagle- I too live in Mi, was hoping for seattime to "play" also this last 'snowfall' 6-8in. after I got home from work. But, my kind next country block neighbor came thru and blew out everyones drive (some200-500ft drives) [he's got big toys-8ft-10ftsnowblower, he told me all he has is 'toys'}. He's a very nice neighbor, kept us plowed out our first year in the place before I could start acquiring my own toys.

My understanding was that you also have to plumb a return line to the sump, in addtion to using the "to" and "from" connections for the BH. Don't you also have to use open center valves for this application? I'm also interested in building a top 'n' tilt setup for my BX22. Any help y'all can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Hi. I'm new to this forum and a first time tractor buyer. Am interested in a 2003 390HST Landtrack, 4WD,39HP,with 68 hours original owner. Comes with a box blade, 2 augers, tiller,brush hog, finished mower, plow blade. Looks brand new. Owner asking $22K. Do you think this is a good price and what is your overall opinion of this tractor....Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!! Kevin<br>

I know better then what your dealer told you as the scags just like every other hydro transaxle has it's preference for longevity!

This is how I look at it. No PTO pump to hook up or buy.<br>
Backhoe sits for long period of time possibly drawing in moisture, I plug it into my tractor, fresh oil is pumped into the backhoe. The tractor gets run on a regular basis getting the transmission oil good and hot quickly cooking out the moisture it drew in from the backhoe, so my tractor transmission and backhoe are both now moisture free.

I would just leave the break in oil until you get to 50 hours. For most applications, break-in oil is 5W-30 but I would leave what Deere sold it to you with in it until 50 hrs. and then replace with your choice of compatible oil.

Prior to using the Rotella I have used nothing but John Deere 15W-40 Plus 50 Synthetic Blend. The only difference I have notice so far is that the Rotella 5W-40 Synthetic gives a slightly lower oil pressure at idle and gives off a signature Rotella sulphur like smell. Hence the nickname "Rosmella". It may hit full oil pressure on start ups slightly faster as well but not much faster. Fuel mileage may be a bit better but it is tough to tell in cold weather. Diesels fuel economy drops in cold weather. Pretty much it has been the same or slightly better.

It depends on your uses as to the tractor that you need! What are your main purposes? What will you be doing the most? If mowing is the main purpose then the lighter the foot print the better for less disturbance of the turf. The larger the deck to tractor is also the best! Who wants to push a mower or trim! This also means less fuel being burnt. If your main purpose is to be doing heavier work digging or tillage, heavy towing work then go heavy but you will have more turf problems do to compaction at a minimum. The B-7800 chassis is the same as the B-2710-2910 only not quite as well equipped. There are some bargins to be had right now on those two models of tractors as they are being replaced.

I agree that valves are cool. Wires and software are cheap. Get used to it. The real cost (hardware, i.e. valves and hydraulic lines are on the way out) simple cost reductions.

I always search under "thermal dynamics" because that is the only kind I want. I am not brand loyal but feel they are best. I have a Lincoln mig and Miller stick. So---I just saw a like new cutmaster 38 sell for $500 as a buy it now. I really considered it a VERY good deal but I am too fussy and want a larger model with more capacity. I think they sell for around $1000 new. Several very nice model 101 sold for in the 1100-1500 range and they are about 2000+ new I think. Again maybe bigger than I need and more than I want to spend but a good deal. My smallest is a model 51 to maybe an 81 but a 101 for a steal, like half of new would get me.

With all that equipment in good shape, the deal sounds reasonable. I did not know you could get the 420 loader on an 855. It normally takes a 70A loader.
