That is a good hoe and it sounds like a competitive price. In my experience, there is no good reason to get the PTO hydraulic pump for any modern CUT. Your tractor has excellent built-in hydraulics and you should be able to operate that unit at little more than medium engine speed.
Adding the quick disconnect hoses is less expensive and more flexible than paying extra for PTO (self-contained) hyd. pump.

I've been about double the recommended dose for as long as I've been using it. It does seem to help the tractor start and run smoother in the cold weather.

There are a three ways to go: You can buy a 2-spool aftermkt valve with open center and power beyond and connect its IN port to the PWR BYD port of the loader valve. Or you can connect your new valve to the three point lift hydraulic block near your seat with an adapter. Or you buy the very expensive Kubota valve and adapter.

OK ! Everybody is right on the shaft size. Went to my J D dealer and the parts man said there are 2 sizes. Serial # up to 4000 are 1 size and serial # 4001 & up are a different size. He didn't have a shaft in stock so we don't know what size goes with what serial #. If someone with the 1" shaft would look at there serial # we could figure this mess out.

I'll try and get a picture of my loader mount posted also. Darned camera is dead and it will likely be past sunset before it's charged up again.

The bucket does work quite well, especially with a Murphy Pipe on the bucket.

The only thing you have to be very careful of when using a FEL and the bucket for snow removal is there is nothing to absorb shock loads if the bucket edge catches something. My pipe idea gives it a smoother rounded edge less likely to snag, and a snow blade has a spring trip mechanism.

Has anyone seen a stump burner?
It is a blower attached to a piece
of well casing. The pipe is laid at the base of the
pile,get a fire going and pile them on.
Another consideration in digging stumps while selective
cutting is that you can kill adjacent tree's by digging out
a neighboring stump.
They do make a 3ph stump grinder for tractors if you just want to grind them down to grade.
I would think you could do a couple acres a day depending on the growth.

Well, if you have already made the purchase then I'd say it was the right decision <:^)...don't look back. It won't do you any good. If you are trying to decide, make sure you know all the details of what is covered and what is not. To put it in gambling terms, basically, you are betting $800 that your machine will have a problem before 2008 and that the problem will cost more than the bet. I've had extended warrantys that were bad bets, and a couple that were good bets. If you don't want the worry, make your bet and take your chances. If you try to sell the tractor on the open market before the extended warranty is up, it's a great selling point. However, dealers will not likely increase your trade-in allowance because you have the extended warranty. Good luck--Pete

Zip - I noticed on mine when the machine is in my heated garage & the tractor thaws out, The valves get a good amount of condensation moisture on them. Before I sprayed the white lithium grease on, I used a hair dryer & got them totally dry first.

AV8R - I run into similar problems with my wife. The fact that on utility type vehicles, like tractors, the engine throttle is independant of vehicle motion often seems to escape my wife. I've seen her struggle to engage the mower deck on a little lawn tractor and go driving off with the throttle barely above idle. And she's a degreed mechanical engineer!

Don't get me started on the time I tried to teach her to drive a manual transmission with my old Ford Ranger pickup.

My wife seems to be doing better and really prefers to mow the lawn with the 4310 HST. Especially since it has that symbol on the tach for the rear pto to be at 540 rpm. It's a visual indicator that she can clue in on that before she does anything, the big needle needs to be on that symbol and this can be accomplished by moving that lever thingy to the right of the steering wheel until the needle hits that symbol.

But with my wife being 4.8 months pregnant, I expect she'll stay off the tractor for awhile.

I would encourage you to get the recommended stuff under warranty so there are no disagreements assuming something was to fail in the tranny.

I'm happy to report the 4310 worked better than I had hoped for when clearing the snow. I could go up and down the ice covered driveway while draging a blade with about 4-6" of snow with no problem. I love this little tractor!! Bring on the snow!

well, that is a good price but I would be better off buying it local b/c of the shipping costs. You say your due for a hydraulic oil change...how many hours do you change it? Mine holds 11.2 us gallons, what does yours hold?

I see ads for M montanas and the LG montanas. Is there a defference in importers or just a new series of Koren tractors. Would you recommend one or the other. I am looking to buy 35 hp 4x4 with front loader some time before Oct. of 05.<br>

The only type of spreader I know of that will handle damp or frozen sand is the drop type.

We use them on sidewalks since, as the name implies, the sand drops straight down, so the area sanded is that directly below, there is no spinner as on the other style.

The reason it can handle clumping material is that the'agitator' is a series of small spiked rollers that chew into the bottom of the sand in the hopper, the last two almost intermesh, nothing larger than the gap between the two sets of teeth can come out, nothing larger than that stands a chance. Ours also have a hydraulic vibrator on the hopper to break up any bridging or sticking material.

On our big truck the exhaust is actually plumbed through the channel steel that the dump box is made of, this heats the material in the box and makes it flow regardless of how wet or frozen it is when it goes in.

The best method is undoubtedly a plasma cutter, however I know this is not exactly a 'homeowner's' tool. Many welding and fabricating shops do have them though, as do a lot of steel sales outlets. If you are buying the pipe from them they will often slit it for you for a small fee.

In the 'average home workshop' category, a disc grinder or gas torhes will do the job also, although not as quickly or neatly.

I would say 'best/easiest' choice would be a toss up, between a disc grinder with a cutting disc, or a reciprocating saw (sawzall).

If you use a grinder, make a series of full-length passes along a scribed line, each one getting successively deeper. If you try to cut like you would with a circular saw the relatively thin blade will likely grab and shatter, the resulting shrapnel can be rather more exciting than the average person would care for.

With a reciprocating saw, put the blade inside the pipe with the saw upside down and held at a very shallow angle, then cut along the scribed line.

The saw will likely make such a thin cut though you would need to make a second pass next to the first in order to open it up enough to get it over the bucket edge. With the grinder it usually makes a wide enough slit that a BFH or a little 'persuasion' pushing against the ground will force the edge in.

Now.... I'll take "Interesting Implements" for $200.00 ...
