Anybody use a 3PH pto driven spreader for this purpose? My only concern is putting rocks through it, which is why I would screen my sand well and clean the unit thoroughly after every use to help prevent corrosion. I have a 600' driveway and throwing sand with a shovel gets old. A real sand spreader is way to expensive. I was going to build my own but then thought of this option, which i can buy for under $500 for my 4110.<br>

Could I use a Box Scraper to take off the top soil and get down to the clay for a 400ft drive, or would that be way too much work? Should I get a CAT in to do the majority of the work?

Denwood--- My apologies for not getting back to you sooner, but with the holiday and and trying locate the Neutocrete file I just got around to replying. Sorry to say I do not have a per foot price for the Neutocrete. All I have is a price for the whole job that they did, which included much extra work. I can vouch for the workmanship and quality, it is excellent. If I ever had to do anything like this again I would not hesitate.

I think you only get on the "black list" if you are constantly trying to return items without a receipt. I think Wal-Mart the magic number is 3 or 6 times with no receipt and then all that is required is a CSM approval for the return. As long as you have the receipt you shouldn't have a problem.

I finally dug out my old flying gear and ran some numbers. Here is what I came up with, keep in mind the numbers apply to any normally aspirated engine:

My land is just about 5000 feet above sea level. In fact, the entire state of Nevada has an average elevation of 5000 feet, and it get to 100+ degrees every summer.

Under those conditions, the density altitude.... the density of the air that you and the engine are breathing..... is the equivalent of 10,000 feet on a standard day. And that is just where I start. Everywhere I want to go is uphill from there.

So what does that mean? It means that my RTV is only making about 70% of its rated HP on such a day. I am running on less than 15 horse power, and that is just around the house. If I hit a back-country pass on a hot day I am climbing some serious grades with 13 HP available.

Yes. I said 13 horse power.

Any wonder why I have to downshift a lot?

Wider tires will just increase the floatation which is not what you want for snow. If you want to keep the old Ford, get new tires and tubes (~$450) and as much ballast weight as the 3pt will lift. Mostly put as much weight on the rear wheels as you can.

Broken, You can bet the State of Wisconsin has had their hands in this long before any strike was planned. When your company knows they can get replacement workers with government approval it makes sense that they would not bargain honestly because they're holding all the cards.

This sort of thing has been going on for quite some time. Back in the 60s my dad lost his job at the state owned tree nursery because they decided to bus prison workers every day from 90 minutes away. Supposedly they could save a few dollars.

Let's see, reasons not to be in the USA for buisness, the complicated tax codes, EPA,DEC, workers that can work in there country 12 hour days or even 15 when needed, and without over time wages. No workers compensation, no social security, nothing like the airlines baggage handlers all calling in sick on xmas holidays. These people don't care who management is or what it does as long as they get paid. They are glad to have a job to feed there families and don't try to show the companies they work for a NEGATIVE power such as striking!

We have some crazy rules on the subject. Something like you need to make or show a 6k profit or money spent, what ever! You get the pic. BUT Also if you are using something for woods work and woods work only agricultural your also not supposed to have to pay. I think its anouther thing like (how good a accountant you use) Dont know but will tell you when I get the call. How the heck can a guy clear land and prepair to make some money at the game if all the benifits come after words? The open farm land is shrinking around me and farming is something that feeds us all. Seems they would be encouraging the clearing of new farm land?

Installed the correct size fuse. Wasn't ever really a problem. <br>

Depending on what kind of parts you are looking for, the serial number can be pretty important. There are usually other clues to point you in the right direction if the number is not available. Sometimes a casting number on a housing or checking the physical dimensions of a part can help determine which part is right for your tractor. If you have a skilled parts person he/she should be able to let you know what clues to look for. If the parts person isn't able to help, see if they will let you talk to a technician. They run into missing serial numbers all the time when trying to order parts. Good luck!

I have owned a ZD21 with 60" deck and have also used a ZD28 with a 72" deck. My personal experience is that the deck on the ZD21 does not portrude past the rear wheel as far as the ZD28, and is much more difficult for trimming. Many times the rear wheel hit the object I was trimming around with the ZD21. I prefer the 72" deck.
