I've been pricing the same thing and the best I've found is $16500 for the TC29D and loader. Haven't looked at a snowblower.

My 4400HST mainly does abrupt stops after being in reverse and releasing that pedal. If I am going forward, the stops are more abrupt than that of my 955 or orange tractors, but if I let up on the reverse pedal, my 4400 stops INSTANTLY. Do those of you with the problem of abrupt stopping experience it worse fromo reverse??

Wish it were that easy. Unfortunately it's not listed for the smaller rear turfs as well as the fronts. Any one else know the formula?

There is no mystery to a Hydraulic top link, I have made 100's over the years. All you need is a hydraulic cylinder with a closed lenth of approx. 16"-18" and a pin dia. of 1"-2", some suitable size & length lines and fittings for your cyl. & machine. Your local equip. dealer will sell weld-on replacement "ball ends" for repairing top links (and the cylinder & lines & fitttings too likely). The total cost probably about $150. Take it all to your local welding shop, and, taa-daa, a hydraulic top link. Best of luck, and have fun.

Although soft cabs and inexpensive enclosures are common on small tractors for <u>heating</u> purposes, I've only seen air conditioned cabs on larger machines. This is probably because the compressor consumes several engine HP that the smaller machines can't spare. Not to say they don't exist, just that they're not common in my small area of the planet. <a href="http://www.andrew.cmu.edu/user/kb13/misc.htm">The FAQ</a> lists several manufacturers of cabs and enclosures, but your best bet may be to visit a few dealers in your area and discuss what's available.

Your concerns and questions are about to be answered by Deere & Co. New axles are on the horizon...I know your patience has been tested...but the light at the end of the tunnel is near.

Oh and the boomer super steer you spoke of that your neighbor has .....to acheive the same turning circle with her tractor as a JD 4000 she has to lock her brakes .... the brake pedal is on the same side of the platform as the hydro pedal..check the specs, on the Boomers.

Best bet is to build your own, I built one from an old horse drawn walking
plow. Use it on B4200 Kubota....works great.

In response to the on going scuffing problem......
All new tractors designed and built by JD Augusta Factory after 8/1/99 had a new axle installed on them that changed the position of the front steering arms and cylinders they also have different gears in the 4wd power-train to make the unit less aggressive. As far as when the new axles willl be available we have been told some time after Jan 1st 2000. Each Customer that has experienced problems with their front axle will have the opportunity to have a replacement axle installed in their tractor. The new axles will fit the previous tractors..as far as the tire replacement each individual dealer should be able to assist their customer's needs.
Deere & Co. has not forgotten this problem or your tractors they know there are issues in the field that need to be handled. Unfortunately they have spent the better part of the year answering transmission issues and keeping up with production. My advice is to stay in touch with your Dealer and keep them informed of your problem ...and remember any JD Dealer can honor your warranty issues so don't let them tell you there is no fix....

Telescoping Draft links have recently been added as an option to the current 4000 series line up they are available to purchase for current models. i'm not sure of the part# but I will check and post the part# in the near future. JD dealer Oxford PA.

Chris... I just got a TC29D with a NH 7308 loader. Since the tractors are the same physical size, I would expect yours would take the same loader. Compared to a big-tractor loader, it's a little light weight (in every sense), but for my needs it's fine. I very much appreciate the ease of installing and removing... both only take a couple of minutes, no tools. I didn't look at using another brand loader, but I would guess you might give up the easy on/off feature. Others may have more experience than I!

I have a shibaura SD1540B tractor and would like to replace the current rice tires with AG R1 type tires. Would like to know of a source for tires for this rim or will I have to put different rims on.

Roger, You have a lot of questions, but all good ones. Different J.D. dealers
may advertise any price they desire, unless Deere notifies them of a "maximum
advertised price" on a certain product, in the event that Deere advertises that
product nationally and wants dealer ads to be consistant with their own.
This does not happen very often though. As far as MSRP being the same for all
dealers, Yes it is, at least in the U.S. But remember, MSRP or "list price"
does not include any additional costs the dealer incurs after invoice, F.O.B.
factory. As for a published MSRP listing, I am not aware of anything other than
the dealer price book, which are again, all the same.
Something I should have mentioned in the original post is the fact that when
comparing different quotes, you may be looking at the same item but they may
not be the same model year. This can affect a price from three to four percent.
Another factor that can cause marked differences in price quotes is freight.
High volume dealers can qualify for free freight while others cannot.
If your favorite dealer does not get any breaks on freight, don't abandon him
but see if he can get a nearby "free freight" dealer to transfer a unit to him. Stick by him, and I'm sure he'll return the favor.

Hi,I just purchased a rural property in central PA that's got about 11 relatively level acres that needs mowing. I've also got less frequent requirements for a loader and backhoe, so I think I'd like the quick-detatch type implements. The plan is to put in a small orchard (20 trees). I've looked at Kubota and John Deere so far, but would like some input on horsepower requirements, makes and models.

What size JD or Kubota for an 11 acre mowing job

Don't worry about the compressor you bought. For home use, it's fine. Delicate instruments and air used for human breathing or driving pneumatic medical devices must be oil free. The minute amount of oil that gets past the piston rings won't hurt your tires, tools or equipment. The water vapor that is produced by compressing air is more detrimental to pneumatic tools. It causes the innards to rust. Thats why water seperators are used on the output. The bottom line is---Don't Worry

Just to let you know that I have 3 tracs and 7 implements with freedom hitches these are really nice. like the man said, "saved countless skinned knuckles and a dictionary of cuss words" I like it from the safety standpoint. just my 2 cents.

I tried to post this response once before but it never came up....but, anyway I paid $18,200 for 3010 HST with 481 Loader, AG tires and SQ-72 bush hog in july. I think you should shop around a little longer. Good luck!

I just talked to my dealer, he informed me that John Deere was going to fix the scruffing problem on some of the 4000 series tractors not all but some, he said that he was told that there was so much scruffing aloud and someone would come and look at my lawn to see if my tractor quailfied for the refit. He also said the new tractors built in December would have the new axle. I would suggest anyone owning one to call their dealer and tell them of there problem.
