Then, just make a double male extention cord that plugs into your generator 240 outlet and also to a 240 welder, compressor, etc. outlet

I came across this thread doing research on a new truck. I have been sorry I did not purchase a diesel in 2002 and am looking at both Ford and Dodge 2005 units for towing. I like the Ford ergonomics but the Dodge comes with more equipment and the Cummings. I am a bit leary of the Ford after reading about the engine and transmission problems on various posts. Any insight, most of this was posted some time ago?

On another note, my philosophy in managing people is that the more you do to give them "ownership" the better they perform. That will not hold true with all people, some are simply bad apples and you need to get rid of them. An exemplary work ethic is hard to come by these days so if you find a few that have that to offer, reward them and you will not be sorry.

Thanks -- yes I just installed new injectors as a result of the problem - but apparently the old ones were not the problem. Maybe it is the injector pump.

one thing of advice I can give you is to go to ebay and put kubota b7800 in the search field. It will give you a rough idea what they are going for. hit completed items and hit it again to see final sale prices. I have the 2004 edition of the clymer used tractor price guide (the NADA of tractors) It lists the 2003 b7800 selling for 13999.00 new and used prices as follows:
12040 if it's fair, 12390 for good and 12890 if it's excellent.

Looking at thisa book and the original cost of my bx2200 I do not think it figured in the cost of the loader. Not sure what your machine cost new with the loader but this should give you a ball park. If you have a fax machine I can copy the listing and gladly fax it to you....Jim

I also have the BX23 and 2 acres and it is deseptivley strong for its size. My wife cannot belive how much I have gotten done. But just to traverse 100ac of land would be tough on such a small machine. A bigger tire would be more comfortable. Just another point other than the fact that a larger machine would accomodate bigger impements.

Its a close and fast calculator , granted its for concrete buts it darn close for estimating. go to www.concretenetwork.com link to their calculator on left side of page Just plug in length(ft), width(Ft) and inches thick and click you got yards. I found afew places that are selling not by the yard but by tonnage (haven't figured that conversion yet)

Brokenarrow, in picture 12 the grade looks quite nice. Did you get it that flat with the box blade that is attached to your tractor? I have never used one before.I may have to get one.
I don't know about not having a barrier to keep the stone from mixing into the mud. I would imagine the stone will keep sinking over time and more and more will have to be added.

For what its worth- in my area(MI) they sell recycled ground up concrete for subbase and topping for driveways. From the one drive I seen, once it gets a bit of traffic packing it, its as tuff as poured. Most drives in my area get the 22a road gravel (claytype sand and gravel) 6-12" thk depend on subgrade. I had some 21AA gravel and stone dust left from some projects so I started an 'experiment' a short driveway to my barn-laid the gravel and thin layerd the stone dust on top-so far it's holding up real good no wheel 'ruts'.

I am currently looking at 471's myself. In my area not many 481's are sold for some reason,several dealers have said that most people who want something bigger than a 471 will go the extra yard and buy a 491 or 492. Something else that several dealers have tod me is that the newer 471s actually dyno out about the same horsepower as the 481,which they tell me is about 71-73 pto horsepower. I do know that the specs list the same tier 11 Perkins engine in both tractors,it is 269 cubic inches I believe, the older tier 1 471s had a 244 cu in engine and the 481 had a 258 cu in engine I believe. It would seem that the 471 is a better bargain since the difference in price is about 1400 and it would seem about all you get extra is bigger tires! Hope this helps. From what I have heard the 471 nad 481 are very simple reliable tractors that have a well proven drivetrain.

My wife and I are getting ready to purchase a used Kubota <br>
L3130HST (117 hrs.)with Land Pride attachments (posthole digger, brush cutter and box scraper for $16,000. We want to buy a backhoe attachment. Being our first tractor, I'm not that familiar with the pros & cons of these backhoe attachments BL4690B and BH90. Any insight would be appreciated.

Seems like the wife has gone berzerk this year with the Christmas light thing, but that's Ok except she wants me to climb around on the roof putting lights on all the eves of the house. There has to be a hero somewhere in this great country of ours who has invented eve troughs with built in Christmas lights that just stay up year round. There might actually be such a thing that we haven't heard of yet out here in the sticks. Frank.

I guess I'm saying a lot of dumb things lately. I did go look at my building today. Yes the siding nails don't show thru because the siding is nailed in line with the studs on 16 in. centers. Frank.

beagle; I guess I should have drilled before I spoke. The cutting edges I tried to drill weren't Deere the were on a Westendorf WL 42 loader with an 8 ft. bucket, so I just assumed they were all that hard. This was 20 yrs. ago, bits are much better today too. Also maybe that's why the cutting edge allways broke in half about halfway across the bucket because it was too hard. Frank.

Make sure your electronic brake controller and your vehicle's trailering circuits and fuse(s) are up to the task of adding another axle (more amperage). And you might have to upgrade to a 7-prong connector if you have a 4-way flat.

I had a '95 Ram that went through 7 track bars and a wheel bearing both of which caused shimmy. My '99 went through 4 track bars, upper and lower ball joints, all tie rod ends and the steering sector shaft had to be adjusted. The my '03+ 2500 Ram does have a center axle disconnect (straight axle carry-over from previous years)---the 1500's have independent front suspensions. Also, a warped brake rotor and/or seized caliper will cause a shimmy. My '03 2500 quad cab, heavy-duty, High-Output diesel, automatic is the best truck I have ever had. Mileage at 55mph can be as much as 28MPG and as low as 17. Pulling 15,000 lb. of heavy equipment around town I get about 14-17mpg.

Well I built my "Murf pipe" this week. Got 10' of 2" pipe for $2 at the scrap yard and in an hour done. My cutting edge is 3/4" thick so the bolt from the top would have ended up on the bevel, not a good place. I will mount it to the tooth bar holes once I have a tooth bar but for now I welded spring catches that hook over the back edge of the ends of the cutting edge. To remove I have to pry out the catch with a something and hammer the pipe off. Hammer because the pipe is straight and the bucket has a tiny curve to the bottom so the pipe has to comform to the bucket when I put it on and will not simply lift off.
Thanks Murf, several people by me thought it was a great idea. I have a feeling several more will take up residence in my area this winter.
