I've never needed front ballast either but I think the 9N is at least a few hundred pounds heavier than the BX. A full scoop will make the front end light but I could still steer it ok.

When you have layovers, the best advice given is pick a major airline with a lot of flight options. If your airline only has a couple flights a day and you miss yours for any reason, you may be stuck for a day or more. If the airline has flights every couple hours, then you have a lot of options. I take 30-40 flights a year and have only overnighted in a layover city once and that was due to a late evening flight and a heavy snowstorm.

Mark,i have a very steep bank to mow ,have wheel weights , helped,flipped wheels to widen stance (made biggest difference)now im going to add 1/4 inch spacers, should be perfect,and im going to ck and retorque several times i know spacers are not the best,tractor was so unstabil before that you could put two fingers on the rops ,with moderate presure lift the rear wheel off the ground,flipping the wheels i believe gave me 1/2" per side but what a difference in stability! thanks! Asphalt plants do in this area. When they resurface some of the roads, they bring in this huge asphalt rototiller and grind it up first. Most of the time they use it right there for a base. But they also remove it back to the plant in some instances? Depends on the roads needs I quess? Makes<br>
a super driveway surface short of paving. We pay around $180.00 - 200.00 per 12-14 yard load. I think they call it 13 ton. I find one load will do about 100' 10-12 ' wide 2-3 " thick.<br>

Check your yellow pages for asphalt plants. Make sure it has some gravel of some type mixed, or you will get straight asphalt and it will turn to large solid chunks<br>

Hi everyone...Good to be back with you all again!<br>
Question: Years ago, I had a Kubota BL4520 hoe. Needless to say, along with many of my toys, I also parted with it. Now as I try to find a comparable unit, there are too many on the market. I have looked in the archives for info. - nothing there. Can anyone identify a comparable Woods brand size unit to the Kubota BL4520 of yesteryear?<br>

They brought some around to us this past spring to play with and to see what we thought They wouldn't let us near them with a camera and they traveled in an enclosed van. They also had the dealer show in Atlanta last month for us and we got to spend somemore time with them. I think most people will be impressed with the work they have been doing.

I'd also look at the tractor to see if it has good weight to be moving logs on a loader as well as a good wide wheel stance for stability and be sure you have large tires on the front to help carry the load. Ground clearance would be another concern for good clearance as it sounds like you are going to be in the rough a lot. It doesn't make any difference as to how much you can lift, if you can't move or handle it after you get it up!

You can buy some nice blades for the 500 dollar range from a Bush Hog dealer that offer all angle adjustments as well as tilt and offset. Some require unbolting vs just pulling a pin for offset. Always buy heavy so the blade won't lift up and go over larger pulls and then you also know you shouldn't be able to destroy it.

Wow! I think I've bragged up the BX a little to much here! Just joking I have many customers enjoying the complete versatility of the tractor near 10 acres but thats about it. You would be getting a lot of seat time to tackle the job but which way would you have the seat facing the most and are you figuring on keeping the 100 acres mowed? Some of it woods? How much ditching and how deep? How much time do you wish to spend doing the different tasks to prep and how much time do you wish to spend maintaining it? Definitely I feel you should go larger! It's just how much?

Ben, just recieved a letter from one manufacturer that the price of steel to them is up 115% over last year? The steel is only a small piece of the pie towards the price but it does add up. Some models in some areas might be a better buy depending on availability, this is towards the end of the selling season or where it slows down some for many dealers so they have more time to assist with the information you might need. I would think that there will be some increases but for the most part they might only be able to justify a smaller increase of roughly 5 percent as that is about what other manufacturers are reported to go up. Kubota has never told us in advance as to amounts of increases. I would recommend at this time to identify exactly what model you want and how it is to be set-up and put it in your dealers hand with a perspective delivery date of when you want it. There are certain models that are still hard to find in inventory and you might have a three month wait any way.

The remote hydraulics are a power beyond circuit off the FEL valve. If you aren't familiar with Power Beyond Circuits, visit the Princehydraulics website and look in the SCV valve manuals. There is a rough schematic there that is pretty straight forward. I use the rear remotes for the rear top-n-tilt, and a hydraulic dump wagon. Really came in handy plumbing the post hole auger this past summer, and moving and dumping fill. It is the same circuit that would be used with the Kubota remote kit, but this only cost me $250. I ordered the valves, hoses, fittings, and plugs from Surpluscenter.

The Position Indicator isn't quite as straight forward. A bell crank on the lift arms runs a connecting rod to the slide indicator. Like I said earlier, this was a second generation indicator, the first being set up with a linear cable. The second set up has a lot better accuracy.
The first set up took about 10hrs to build, the second took about 40hrs. Combine the 1/4" valve with this indicator, and I don't miss position control.

I plan to purchase my first tractor very soon. Based on my research, I have narrowed my choices down to the John Deere 5320 (with syncshuttle transmission) or Kubota M6800 (with hydraulic clutchless shuttle shift), both are four wheel drive models. I plan to have a 4-1 bucket and medium heavy duty bush hog. Would appreciate feedback or suggestions, especially about reliablity and longevity.

Good idea! Lets add the basic tractor weight and the wheelbase to the mix.

A 30 horse, 1400 pound tractor won't run any bigger brush hog than a 20 horse 1400 pound tractor.

If its a 3510 that is a great price, I bought a 4110 with loader, same frame tractor except 41 hp, with 350 hrs for 12,000.00 in Sept. Now have 440 hrs on it, I do not regret buying my Mahindra, it has done everything I needed it to do and then some, totally surprised with the power and weight of this tractor
