Hi Dennis,
I am looking at the original brochure I picked up at the dealer when I bought my B1750 in 1990. In the hydraulic specs where it says implement control, it says (position control). As I move the lever for the 3 pt the arms raise and lower. When I get the implement to the height where I want it I let go of the lever. The lever stays where I leave it and so does the implement. Is this how a position control tractor is supposed to work?

I have been reading alot of forum letters about how people have put rear hydraulics on there tractors. I have come up with a very simple solution on my B1750 HST that I have used for over 10 years. This is for people that have a FEL. I use a reversed grader blade for pushing snow and was tired of getting on and off the tractor to change the blade angle. So I bolted an old cylinder on that I had gotten from work.
To put hydraulic power to it I purchased a hydraulic selector valve from northern equipment fo $85.00 I routed my bucket dump hoses to the valve and then ran 2 hoses to the rear of the tractor to power the blade cylinder. You then put 2 short hoses from the loader valve where the bucket hoses originally came out of to the inlets on the selector valve. I mounted the selector valve right next to the loader control handle.This way the original hoses from the bucket reached it without any hose modification. With the selector valve button pushed in, the FEL operates normally. When I pull the selector valve out, it diverts the hydraulic flow from the bucket cylinders to the lines going to the rear cylinder. In this position the loader valve bucket function then controls the rear cylinder. It is very simple and sounds like it would work just fine for the application you are describing. For a rear hydraulic operation using one cylinder or two in tandem this works just fine and the system is safe as it uses the relief valve on the loader control valve.

The only drawback is that you cannot operate the bucket and rear cylinder at the exact same time. The lower and raising of the of the loader arms will continue to operate as normal. You just can't dump the bucket with the selector in the rear position.

How's that GST tranny working out? I'm open to both GST/HST as long as they are both reliable. Does gear shifting happen quickly and easily. I know how HST works because I have it on my garden tractor, but I've never used GST before.

After starting this discussion, I finally bought a used low hours Kubota 3010. I was within inches of buying a Century at Walter's Tractors in Linglestown, PA when I called Walter and was told of a $1000 price increase due to steel shortages. That tipped the deal to the Kubota.

Two points:

1. The Century/Zetor is as well made as the Kubota. The Century C50 loader is a helluva lot easier to dismount than my Great Bend Loader. Only Century has the fuel tank in a sensible location so you are not lifting 5 gal of fuel over your head. Kubota, Deere and Kioti have not figured this one out yet.

2. I got a Kubota with HST. Once you have the hydrostat, you would never want to go back. I am a true believer now. If Century/Zetor/Branson is bringing out a hydrostat in '05, I'd wait for it.

Ken, I just purchased the rental upgrade kit for my 4410. When I began to install right side skid plate per instructions, I noticed that the two bolts holding the retainer block for the hydraulic lines to the floor board were not long enough to cover the additional thickness of the new bracket required. The instructions call out to just reuse the nuts. Did you have this problem?

On car steering wheels i have removed ,i loosened the nut and backed it off flush with the steering shaft,then i put a small block of wood on top of the nut,and hit wood with a dead blow hammer,while at the same time having someone pull on the wheel,keeping pressure on it while your tapping with the dead blow,hope this helps,Craig

For me, the biggest thing about mini DV is that it has embedded timecode. This is a huge advantage when you want to fly the video into your computer.

Most modern computers and editing software will be able to take advantage of the timecode.

As an example of how timecode makes life nice, is instead of having to fly in the entire tape and then meticulously going through it on the computer and deiscarding what you don''t want, you can simply hookup the DV cam to your computer via firewire, and use the transport controls in your editing software to go through the tape. Your camcorder will obey the computer software. As you go through it, you simply hit start and stop buttons for where you want a particular clip 'grab' to occur. The computer allows you to name these clips individually withsomething meaningful to you. It then placed the timecode numbers and name in an 'edit list' (EDL). When you are through going through the tape this way, you tell the computer to go and do it all. It will then automatically rewind and fast forward the tape to the appropriate beginnings of each clip and capture the desired length of each one. It will place the clip on your harddrive, with the name you chose, and then automatically go on to the next one.

You just go away and do something else for a while and let the computer do it's work. You come bacl later, and all your named clips are in a folder ready to go. You just drag the entire folder into your editing software and it's ready to go. Drop the clips into your timeline, add transitions, titles, and effects, and you're ready to render the output.

Downside, DV tapes are more expensive than DVD discs.

I have a Digital8 camera I bought years ago that allows me to use Hi8 tape to record on (cheaper then MiniDV tapes), and also allows me to play back analog Hi8 tapes recorded on older Hi8 camcorders.

Mini DV has a few more lines of resolution than Digital8, but otherwise is identical in qulaity.

I buy the finest item manufactured in a catagory without brand loyalty. The Kubota wheel loader is without equal let alone a better. Yanmar is a nice wheel loader but not the features. Kubota tractors in the mid frame catagory like the JD are not even close in loader capacity which is really BREAKOUT power, the loaders are harder to take off and on (and I hate cheesy loader kickstands), the brakes are on the wrong side and I like the 2 pedal set up over the tredle. I really could not budget a new one and Kubota engineers must have been smoking the Japanese version of pot when they designed the loader valve to come off with the loader (on the used older models) as if no one would like to use it on something else.I did demo a few Kubotas and I love them too just not as much. Also if you can't trust Yanmar, you can't trust Kubota

You need to match Cat O with catagory 1 pins. Cat O was used and still is on many of the Super series or large frame garden tractors that have been built. The catagory one pin and heavier frame they are using on many attachemnts for the sub compacts is what makes it a near perfect hook up. There are several web sites that offer the actual measurements but I don't have them available right now although they were not to hard to find. I might suggest a look in a dealers yard for a Turkey day ride to just compare with a tape measure.

Hi, I am putting in a drivway and read your old post. Could you explain "pit run with crowns"? I have an old loader and would like to do the job myself. The road will be about 800' so I am trying to do a lot myself and keep the cost down.
