Unfortunately there is MUCH misunderstanding associated with this day.

I have been called many names, mostly a 'war monger' for my attendance, in uniform, at veteran's day, or as we call it up here, remembrance day services.

I have also been slandered for wearing an American military uniform in Canada.

My reply has always been the same, "Is the official language still English?".

Today though a young lady paid me a compliment in a small but extremely meaningful way when we stopped for a coffee on the way home to warm up after a chilly stand in the cold November winds for the service. I ordered 3 coffees, she placed 3 large mugs of coffee on the table, and beside each mug a small glass, behind here stood her father with a bottle of brandy in his hand. He said his daughter had asked why there were soldiers in the restaurant, was everything OK. He said he told her she was in Canada now, everything was more than OK, it was perfect.

They were from Yugoslavia, their villige had been monitored by Canadian peace-keeping troops, the safety the troops had allowed them to flee their country in favour of this one.

The compliment? The daughter, a beautiful teenage girl of an age that should not know war, thanked us profusely for leaving such a beautiful safe land as this toi travel half-way around the world and put ourselves in harm's way to protect her & her family. I told her it was not me. She said, "To me you are every soldier in the world, God bless you."

I thanked her and said he already had.

The coffee was free.

Bob, could this sound be a more distinctive (higher pitch) whine when in high range? I know you said high gear but making sure you didn't mean high range.<br>

All tractors I've been around make more of a whine when in high range. The faster you go, the more whine.<br>

If it's still a screaming or ringing and coming from the front, it's not gear whine.

Before I bought my trailer, I borrowed a friend's with brakes on one axle. When the brake was applied the axle would twist slightly, causing the spring equalizer to lift that axle, then release. This would begin a harmonic "bounce" in the axle which shook the whole thing quite violently. My trailer has brakes on both axles and has never done this all the way up to locking all 4 tires.

An electric brake has a shoe mounted on the solinoid in the drum which pushes against the face of the drum, causing the main brake shoes to rotate around an accentric activating them. The varing current to the solinoid varies the amount of pressure to the secondary shoe which activate the primary brake. The wheel must rotate for the brake to operate.

The only hose elbow problem I've had on my TC33D is leakage past the hose clamp. It would always seep at the connections until one day it started to flow heavily. The fan had sucked alot of the oil through the radiator and blew it all over everything under the hood. Yes, everything is rustproofed now. I doubled up on the clamps and washed the tractor and it has been ok since then.

Sounds like an obstruction in the return flow line, either the flow control valve is stuck or blocked, or you have a blockage somewhere in the return line. Make sure the flow control valve is opening, and the knob or control isn't spinning independently of the stem. The blockage is most like somewhere around the control valve.

I use the BoDozer grapple as much as my bucket and wouldn't be without it. It is extremely well built and I have no complaints whatsoever. Mine is the BG-5 five footer. It weighs about 600 lbs so it cuts down on lift capacity a bit but for my uses it's never been an issue. Remember that it replaces the bucket so if the bucket weighs 250 lbs the net loss of lift capacity is 350 lbs. I use it mostly for picking up slash from our tree farm operation and moving it to the chipper. It can pick up a big bite of slash, but slash is bulky and not terribly heavy. I've used it to pick up and move rocks up to maybe 10-12 cubic feet in size and that worked fine. I bought mine as part of the tractor package from the local JD dealer although I know Borgford sells direct.

The tractor was not split, that was given as the next option if the owner wanted to pursue it. With the clutch depressed and sitting on a small hill the tractor did not roll back, with the clutch still depressed I put the transmission into neutral, this took some force, when it popped out of gear it rolled backwards. This is all while the clutch was still depressed fully. Even the peddle stop had been removed to assure full travel. It looks like it�s time to split the cases and set it up correctly, you can bet I�ll find a different dealer to do the work.

Around 1990 I rode a diesel bike that belonged to my then wife's uncle in Finland.

It was an old Kawasaki, that had been re-powered by a 1 litre, 1 cylinder, air-cooled industrial diesel originally from a commercial fishing boat.

To say that it was a unique creation would be an understatement.

The engine had a massive flywhell and ran very slowly. It also had two clutches, one each side of the flywheel. The starter was used to get the flywheel only spinning, then you released the first clutch and that made the motor turn over and start. Then you could use the second clutch to pull away.

The neat part was it had many gears, 12 I believe, that and the two clutches meant you could disengage the flywheel from the engine while riding, let the engine idle, and gather energy by using the flywheel to restrict downhill speed, then use that stored energy to go up the next hill, all the while the engine was at idle, or even off completely.

Because of the cost of fuel over there, it was the equivalent of $12 a gallon even then, there were many such odd creations. They also had lots of electircally powered bicycles.

If you mean the X575, X585, and X595. They are lawn and garden tractors. The new 3000 20 series is a compact tractor. The 3000 20 series will replace the 4210, 4310, and 4410 compact series. There is already a 4000 20 series out that replaced the 4510, 4610, and 4710.<br>

The 3000 20 series have yet to be announced. My dealer was in Florida for a preview. The UK site has some pictures that might represent what the new series will look like. Not sure when the announcement will be or when they might be available. New models in the CUT line with new model numbers to represent the mid and large chassis sizes. <br>

Just a guess but next I would expect a 2000 20 series replacing the 2210, 4010, 4110, and 4115. Time will tell.<br>

AV, I was 30+ when I went back to college. It was the best thing I could have done. My first excursion to college at age 18 was one semester that produced a GPA of 0.07 (six packs were 99cents then :-) ). Anyway, being more mature helped alot and let's just say I ended up doing pretty well.

I think you're doing the right thing even if it may take some time. As they say, it's not the destination, it's the journey.

Thanks DRankin and JParker for the updates. Since posting my last message I've received a couple of messages from Tammy at PatGreenwellMfg quoting the cost to ship to my address. Apparently my message to them was received although it didn't appear so from my end.

I can only assume that their 1-888 number does not apply outside the United States.

I use reconditioned Homelite weed whackers that I purchase at these traveling toolshows at local Hotels. You can get a plane curved shaft for $49-$59.00. One that uses interchangeable heads is about $79.00. Most of the machines with interchangeable heads are interchangeable with the original Roybi design. You can get attachments like edger for about $30.00. I have an edger and small tiller. The attachment stuff is ok but light duty.<br>

If you get a leaf blower that is not a backpack design, I would recommend Stihl. I have several lower end priced units that almost blow too much. It throws rocks quite easily. Stihl has there own design for interchangeable heads which is expensive but "contractor duty".<br>

Everything uses 50:1 mix and I like the Stihl oil!

I have a 970 and if I lean to the side in the seat the engine will cut off from the safety switch. It sounds like this might be happening to you. When you push the clutch back in, you are then firmly on the seat and everything works normally. Try jumping the switch and see if it solves the problem.
