Does the gas leak down when the mower is not running? If not would doubt you have a leak in the tank or hose.

Could be a little is being splashed but not enough you are noticing it.
Are you filling when the engine is hot and it is heating the tank some where the gas is doing some evaporating?
Could it be the smell is coming from the tank you are pouring the gas from? Is it a new tank? kt

Well I have not found pto pumps with center the pto shaft goes into and through. All I have found are ones with shafts.<br>
My tractor parts and garage friend suggest I go with a Centrifugal pump. Hypro has one with gearing built in for 540 pto. Pricing higher than I would like to go but for all the positives have heard and read it seems much better than roller pump. Then I find much change my tanks plumbing to me a good bit for change in pump. As it is much larger capacity pump it demands much larger hoses some difference in valves and filters. Sherwood Pumps has very good site on selecting best pump for your needs. Open my eyes. Found out what I thought was ample volume was not even enough to keep my tank mixed. <br>

Can anyone tell me their thoughts on the centrifuge pump and HYPRO's for certain. Also any info on the pumping circuit for that pump. My sprayer tank is a high setting trailer with bottom of tank a good bit above pto level so do not think water to the pump would be issue as I understand it does not prime itself. But it warns against running dry. So how do you empty the tank when spraying? Or normally spraying till tank is empty and killing pto when it stops okay?<br>

Changing oil and filter is about the same on most anything. Find the fill port and the dipstick to check the level (think it has dipstick).

One word of advice here, you most likely will be flat on the ground, if you dump that oil it will be big mess and not great for the ground or water. You know that but first time I drained oil for mid size tractor the amount that came out socked me and I lost the drain plug and well there was bare spot for about 2 years.

But my suggestion was let the tractor sit for a day or two before you change the oil and when you open the drain plug watch the oil very carefully and open it slowly. If you have much water in it that is what drains first. If you see pure water come out you have water in oil for sure and will cause issues with system running it. If there is water you need to find and fix where it is getting in and or use shelter for parking it.

Thanks for the info. It will be two or three weeks before I can get back to this repair. It will begin with the motor on the cutter to verify its specs and then to get replacement pump if my current pump does not have a simple blow seal. Will give feed back then. kt

Can you check to be sure there is full and free flow out the tank? Now I did not read your asking for this and not sure who will back me up on this but if you are trying to start it without bleeding the system get a helper and can of WD 40 and us short burst of spray to the air intake to start on and run on for a few seconds to prime the system. Will not say it works on all systems, have only used it on Ford, Allis Chambers, Kubota and JD.

Nothing wrong with any of these suggestions but have my own also with a couple of questions:
When you hit the key what happens to those indicator lights? Better yet turn on the head lights and what happens to them? they do not change at all the starter is not getting power to it. In that case look for bad solenoid or bad connection or defective relay.
Now if the lights go out or dim greatly then consider bad battery (try jumping to prove this), or bad batter cable connections remove battery cables on both ends and clean or worst bad starter. Do not miss the starter could be stuck but I doubt that. If you think the starter is stuck put track in gear and just rock it with it turned of. You are not trying to really roll the wheels but cause the motor to turn over not even a full turn.
Quick question have you check the air intake for pest and replace the fuel filters and put in fresh fuel? If not you ought to.

Murf it is hard if possible at all to help someone who does not want to accept it. We all have Jeffs to cross out paths in this life and maybe at times we are the Jeffs.

I probably have more wondering about our Gator than any other piece of equipment. Ours was running good, really great and my wife pulls it out of garage and it wants to show it bad side. Ended up having to replace the spark plug. It has gotten to where when my wife drives it the plug often die. Need to see if she is over choking the engine causing that.

Maybe I feel the same about certain brands, never owned a Cat but to me that brand is worth some more than I will even say a Kubota of same HP if both had such in a tractor. Just think the Cat would be built heavier. Then not sure that is true for not sure who makes the Challenger label which were Cat tractors for Agco has either owner ship of that label now or just the Challenger label and Cat is no longer on it.

Still know the lowest price means little about the value of the product. Only means it is the lowest price. Might be the best value or may be the worst. Guess the saying buyer beware is more true today than ever.
