Murf, did not chuckle out loud but I worked for a large equipment manufacturer for a few years. Over those years I was the inspector when the machine came off the assembly line and filed in where we load test the machine.

The reason for my chuckle was the directions called for easy operation during the break in period, while at the plant I ran them full throttle for over a half hour testing all systems,before it was load tested.

I agree, let me break in the machine. We also saw small oil leaks and such that really prove to be residue from the assembly and of course the blown hose that was defective. Never knew of a defective major component.

No idea the exact set up on these levers but it sounds like that lever goes direct into the transmission. If so doubt you have much to check or possible issue outside of the transmission however that being said:
If I am correct on the design have you tried oiling it where it enters the transmission?
Have you check the transmission oil level?
Have you tried jacking up a rear wheel and slowing rotating it by hand while someone is also apply some pressure to the shiftier to see if it move?

I would check the following:
oil level
is the park brake set?
are you in high range? if so shift to lower range
are you running to low a rpm?
are you pushing the pedal to the floor with low rpms or in too high a range? that will choke it off. kt

This was very good detail. Interesting it did not have any of the seals on it. Must have been part of shift change when being built. kt

I can not answer that directly but was in a parts store about three weeks ago and a man came in with clutch and pressure plate off his Ford maybe same model as this just do not remember and said he was told it was also used on some Ford cars. That shop measured the plate and I think was able to match it up. Hopes that helps. kt

I am not a tractor mechanic but have been told it takes only a small hole for it to pull air into the hyd oil and can be any where. It could be sucking air in any suction line. kt

Does it have a few links of chain in the lift system? If so could one of the links gotten in a bind and is locked up holding the deck up?

I assume it comes back on after a few minutes and does the cycle over and over? If so has to be something over heating that is having to cool, if you have a breaker in that circuit and not a fuse it could be that breaker or something in the circuit. But if fused which most likely it is than the fuse would be blowing if overloaded so assuming it is not over loaded.<br>

My thoughts are you will find the issue in the floodlight itself. If the switch on the flood light it might be that but it also could be the bulb. If there is no switch on the light itself would replace the bulb. kt<br>

Be sure you check the ground where grounded to the tractor.

I agree with Chuckles Kubota manual normally shows that well or does on my two. I would be surprised if you can not widen the rear wheels.

A big point of safety on doing so..be sure you do NOT use a single jack under the rear of the tractor to do so as the front axle does pivot. Do use two jacks under the rear, one under each axle and block front wheels very tightly. Even on that size tractor rear wheels can be heavier than expected.

Am considering do I want a bed cover or a tool box. Tool boxes have had and used for years but never a bed cover. <br>

I do not want to haul much, battery jumper cables and a tow strap or chain. Will install box on trailers for tie down straps and the receiver hitch for that trailer to prevent hauling extra weight when not needed. <br>

The bed covers are in wide variety of styles and materials. At least here have been quoted over $2,000 for a roll up driven by electric motor which I would not even consider that drive system. No remote in hand can not open nor close. <br>

Those who have one what are your thoughts, experiences and recommendations. I do not use any in bed hitch for towing. Will haul items the top needs to be open if not removed but not real often. I do like the idea of the covered bed to keep my trash in and others out. Same for my tools and such. <br>

Is there a brand you recommend buying and one your recommend running from?<br>

That is the kind of thing you want to kick yourself after you have laughed at yourself but before you cry about it. Well something like that. You know, it sort of seems like they would have been different color lens or sizes or such so you would notice which light was on quickly. kt

I do not know that model but have one of the previous models, a M6800. It has the standard transmission and that has been my only problem. Had to have repairs to the transmission twice in the 14 years have had it (have about 900 hours on it) with the last repair totally my fault as it was allowed to run low on hyd oil. First time had a gear to break with normal disking. That being said I would buy it again. Been very pleased with it. Starts and runs great. Mine trans is not fully synchronized and wish it were and at times wish had gotten the second remote hyd valve but so far have not had a need for the second valve but do recommend going so. The only tractor I can compare it to is my brothers Massey which has about 8 to 10 more hp and his Massey is heavier but I am able to pull his disk as well as he can. Same with chisel plows. At same time my Kubota uses less fuel doing so. Think it has 18 gallons of tank and for anything but true full pulling like heavy disking or chisel plows or subsoilers that is more fuel that I will burn in a 8 to 10 hour day. Drop a full load on it and running like 17 to 1800 rpms steady I have to top it off at lunch and that will take me the full day. It has pleased me well and still a joy to use. No idea what kind of improvements they have made to the M series since I bought. kt

Smithfield selling to the Chinese really upsets me. But I was told they had some kind of agreement if not owned by a company in what was Eastern Europe and was basically run by the mob or mafia from there. Was told the group was so dangerous they were known to be controlling the hog market in the US a few years back and the Feds were scared to go after them. How true no idea but had a friend who got out of the hog business because of all this he said. The refused to pay the market price and drove out many of the independent hog farmers to control the market. Again, no idea how true all of this is.

We like the Honey Crisp also and my wife bought a small bag last week. I am sure she did not pay that high a price for them. However they are higher than most if not all other varieties here and they grow a lot of apples about 1 to 2 hundred miles from us. Think it was last spring in NC apple area believe it was ice that damaged a lot of the trees driving prices up. BTW, she just bought them last week and when I checked to be sure the variety one is very soft and beginning to rot. kt

YP, I found a 2008 with the V8 gas and auto. The salesman was stubborn and told me over and over it would tow I think it was 16,000 pounds. It had about that same rear axle ratio (I had that verified) and he wanted to tell me it was a 4.10. One reason I walked from there.

So far (about 1/2 tank) for my local driving with NO load 95% with A/C on it hit 12.7 mpg yesterday for average on that 1/2 tank. My wife said work with it till at least 15 mpg.

Here Farm Tags are I think about unlimited if not unlimited on weight. Friend who did farm our place drives a tracker trailer with regular license with Farm License plate. There is a distance from home you are limited to. Not sure what it is but feel right sure under 300 miles, maybe even less than 200 miles. kt

Depending on what you are up against and all you want to do is open it up for broadcast over seeding it, using a disk with the blades set straight or nearly straight will work and also a good landscape rake can. You also may find mowing it very short might expose the dirt enough to over seed it. If using a disk you will need to test the depth and speed you are running for depth of cut.

I did not mention this in simple English but check and see what kind of warranty there is by law in your state. In mine on houses it is several years. No idea on other type of buildings. This is NOT a well known law here and one most contractors will not talk about. kt
