Danny, first welcome to TP.

I would try to locate the knock or isolate it. Try using a stethoscope or infrared thermometer. Also do not rule out contaminated fuel or injector. If you just fueled up before the knocking began I would look at the fuel very carefully.

Thanks Art, we bought the Stihl Saturday and only got to use it for less than 30 minutes but it sure is easier that holding the hand held and it jerking on you. kt

Dennis I found the same wording on this at 3 tv sites and one newspaper. We have three local tv stations and do no think ever heard all use the exact same wording inn a story.

It would be good if details were given to help others learn from his tragedy. Sure leaves a lot to wonder about. Still sad.

In following up on some of your thoughts bumped into remote control mowers. Think that would be a very good option for him. He could remain in electric wheel chair and operator the mower. kt

My guess is there is issue with the stabilizers either one or both. I would be sure he has both released for full swing of the lift arms. I do not know the type of stabilizers on that tractor but if the telescoping style on my two Kubota's there could be one is bent or a bolt or such in one that limits it full travel. kt

We had a Golden Retriever that was a real family member. In thinking back on him have done a good bit of laughing and some crying. Two things that stand out in many was how he lapped up some hot soup one day in our kitchen and spit it all over the kitchen. I laughed and cleaned for a while. Did not realize dog's don't seem to have any idea how hot food is before they gobble it.<br>

The other was he had a way of showing older people how he cared about them. He would be gentle while often jumping in their lag is sitting in large chair as if he were a poodle or such. Made my Mama laugh often doing that. He could sense a person's lack of stability it seemed for he was very careful around them if standing.<br>

Frank you are very correct.

Dennis, the new plans all have smaller networks, no out of network coverage and some require you have approval by the primary doc to see any other provider. You really have to check on your own if not working an agent license with the different companies.

Expect to see higher, much higher out of pocket most plans are around $6,300 per person per year with most likely higher deductibles and drug copays.

For what I think you want go to Healthcare.gov, select "Individuals and Families" and then the subtopic "see plans and prices". You will do a lot of click to see the information on the plans and to learn what providers they have and the coverage.

Pricing is most likely higher. Don't be surprised if the law does not change to see more companies drop their health insurance totally and let the employees find coverage on their own. If this happens the Federal Governments estimated cost for subsidy will jump. Some believe the push to now raise the minimum wage is to push some off of being eligible for the subsidy.

There will be changes in this law but no way I will try to guess what they will be. But this law does NOTHING to lower health care cost. Even if there is 7 million who signed up there was a higher number who lost their coverage due to this law so the net result is a negative number. I know, I worked this for four full months. kt

I have two suggestions or thoughts might be better.

Good to library and look at the annual review book of Consumer Reports on cars. They have it for 10 year old cars I think or may say last ten years of history. Look for safety and other issues on it. This is from real owners reports and for me has always been dependable.

Second, you may want to check on insurance. This will vary with companies and states but it will probably cost more if house at their school if they live away from home. Also normally older is less on insurance. But my suggestion is have say two or three in mind and have your agent to give you the prices on each one.

Then have long talk with about the dangers of driving and being on their own and pray for them and their parents!kt

Sorry Dennis. Amazing how attached we can be with an animal.

We had a Golden Retriever we had put down about 7 years ago for cancer. I knew he did not have the energy as he no longer would jump in back of my pickup. Just thought it was age. He also had developed bad breath which we could not figure out and the Vet said that was a sign the cancer had gotten into his lungs. We found it as the cancer began showing up as lumps on his coat which we at first thought were some kind of insect bites.

By the time all was confirmed he was in great pain and we felt the only human thing was to have him put to sleep. Stayed with him the full time. He would have for me. kt

A few years back I sold a peanut combine which was pulled by and used the tractor's pto for power. I had used it for green peanuts which is harder work than dried peanuts and the person buying it for green peanuts. A couple of weeks into his harvest he called me upset it was doing a poor job and in talking found out he tried to run it not using the std 540 pto speed, was using something like eco PTO or something his JD had. My instructions were simple, you must run that combine with full 540 rpms with plenty of power, must have solved his issue for last heard from him.

No idea what the circuit is like on your tractor but look for blown fuse and or safety switch that has issue with it's wiring or adjustment or just bad switch.

If Auerbach's suggestion works to me great indication of issue with safety switch.

I would begin by checking the fluid level. Would think it would be easy to find the leak if you use paper towel and wipe each seal but then if it has not been move it would be the seal above the oil spot.

Good looking Gator there. Life it much better than ours.

You should get a good start by where the drip is showing up on clean floor and the type of fluid it is. Card board box opened up under it should keep floor clean and show up very well.

You may need to clean the motor and transmission before you begin the hunt depending on how oily they are.

Is it just a slight leak with no fluids showing needing added to or do you have to refill a fluid often? kt

Think I told you all dealer was willing for me to upgrade to a MS391 model. Either is a lot more work horse or the 290 never was running right. I have used the 391 about an hour last Saturday and then a couple of hours yesterday and it is a pleasure. It is a joy as it will cut right through a tree the 290 would build friendship with it took so long. Much more power than the 290. Again makes me think the 290 had issue from first cranking it or the 391 is a real horse compared to it.

Been using a middle buster on cultivator which in not as large as a true middle buster and the results is not that good. Would like to find the old US made one row middle buster but think they have all been scraped.

First tractor leased for about 4 years and other than maintenance no repairs. That lease worked very well. FYI it was a Case.

Next bought new M6800 Kubota in 99. Had to replace a transmission gear. Second gear lost a tooth. Not sure what the cost was but not cheap. Other wise basically maintance other than issue with lights still not fixed and replaced seat.

Next bought B2710 Kubota used about 2003 with I think like 300 hours on it. Only routine maintenance and replaced seat on it. For me Kubota seats rot out quickly.

2008 bought used Volvo excavator and have replaced several hoses on it. Some more than once. Have issue with the electrical system not solved but have learned to work with it.

I have bought used implements with good success but rather buy new if has working parts.

Buying used has been decent for me and think depending on what you are buying a good option, even better than buying new. Now that is with doing careful inspections and doing the math. Was told when leased the first tractor be careful with equipment auctions and have found that great advice. Have only purchased one implement at auction having been to many but learned early on to determine the value to me and do not let the emotion of the bidding get into the price. I do expect to buy used for used price and not the price they paid for it new when they bought it.
