You are seeing the problem and we are not but if it seems to be an issue with it is not rotating enough try smaller diameter pins first for it may loosen in use to where it will rotate fully. Then you will not have over size holes.

I would say that is an indication of how heavy the unit is built. A 7 foot rake can really pull a large amount of dirt and such. Think mine is 7 foot and use it normally on a 27 hp tractor and it works well. Have used it on much larger tractor and the issue is do not over load it. The frame is not that heavy of metal but wide spread load has never been an issue for me.

Been years since I studied welding and was in major welding shop. (Not welder but inspector.) Does the harden steel need to be preheated? Memory is not certain.

If I read the original correctly post it has it own pto pump.

I am a firm believer you begin with the simple and most often lowest cost options. It may well be your pump but first I would look at the oil as to the level, condition and it's filter.

As it slowed did all operations slow or just one? If the pump is the issue then all operations would slow. Are you sure the tractor held the same rpms the full time? Sure you did not pinch a hose while using it?

A few years back there was at least one company who came through on a regular basis doing this. There was much variance in their pricing if you pushed them. They used a silver product that was very shinny when first applied and sadly the shine nor the coating lasted very long. No idea the brand or such but would not recommend it. Silver paint would have been better.

I would talk with good local paint supply dealer myself. Then I have one of those.

Wonder how cool seal used on mobile homes would be?

Steve, are you sure you have it filled to the correct fluid level? I have no idea the method used on that tractor, sight gauge or dipstick or another method.

Murf, would not have thought about fast dropping a load foaming the hyd oil but makes sense with several rapid cycles. But if he had front end loader should not air in the hyd oil show up there or can you have issue that pulls air into the 3 pth hitch but not the fel?

Do have a question, how much are you trying to extend the axles? Are you certain there is no offset in the rims to give you what you want?

I would first check to be sure the starter is mounted tight to the tractor. Then the battery cables and such. Did not notice you tried jumping to start but if you can SAFELY by pass the battery to the terminals on the solenoid. Talking about the terminal from the battery, not the one to the starter. Do not want to bypass the safety switch and you get jammed between tractor and something.
If you still get the same then I would removed the starter and try playing with the bendix and turning the starter by hand to see if you find it binding or such. I think you will find bad bendix or bearing in the starter.
As Greg pointed out many parts stores will test a starter for you.

That sure seems about the time needed to burn a wire or circuit out. Are you certain nothing was wired wrong? I am not familiar with the upgrade.

Think Hardwood is on the right track. Look for a knob that control the down speed on the 3 pth hitch. Often a knob between your legs on the tractor.

Our family has a 601, much like the 8 N still. A grandson now has it. The slow speed of the starting system seems to lend itself to over-choking it. It has been years since I helped on that tractor but NAPA did carry all parts we ever needed. We found the fuel adjustment was always an issue. It would be running great, then let it sit a few days and you would have to adjust the fuel mixture screws.

Murf, no fuel expert but there was an experiment in the US a few years back where they used oil from different seeds I guess. Know they used from soybeans and cottonseed for the cotton seed was the one they reported has the lowest power from it. The short of it as I remember their prediction was a farmer would be able to produce their own fuel. But not aware of that ever catching on but also aware there is biodiesel. Thought that was from regular diesel fuel and cooking oil which much is from seeds.

Propane tractors here just were not. Either gas or diesel. If you need help on the system you might could find it with some of the fleet trucks mechanics for those are used it seems wide spread.

One thing about the old metal seats they lasted. Does seem they are missing a uv block or something in the material used today. Do check for rot before you spend any money on it but I would take to a auto upholstery shop first.
