Also suspect water if not too long since a fill up. A station that sold off road near me the last tank I bought there (they closed right after buying the fuel) had so much water in it went through at least 4 if not 6 filters that stop water. Now the station I buy my off road is in process of closing (never had issue with their fuel in at least 4 years) so have to find another safe source. Odd in a area with lot of tractors and off road machines most the places that sell off road have closed. Even with them off road was not a main part of their business so the decline in commercial equipment is not the reason.

Welcome to TP.

Is not the belt guards mounted in a fixed position? Could you be talking about a tension pulley for the belt? What is happening to the best to cause so often replacement? Breaking, slipping or shredding?

Without any more info no way to know the how much your heavy your front weights are but if the tractor does weight say 4,000 or more would guess they are like 75 pounds each.

Shipping weight and operating weight not sure if the wheels are counted in shipping weight or not but think it is shipped with no fluid for one thing and if the difference you have given is betwen shipping and operating weight suspect wheels and rims are not part of shipping weight.

Have any idea where a dealership is for the tractor you are buying or where to find support and parts? Regardless the brand they all need parts sooner or later.

Okay it went to ZERO but did it go back to working? If not seems you need a new hour meter. Would suggest you keep memory on the hours when it failed.

See the weather news know many areas are hard hit over last couple of months with little rain and above normal heat.<br>

In my area the last two years were on that order here with last year really dry and hot. So far this year has had good rain fall mostly. Hot some but really nothing major. Corn crop here is varied, most looks great and once in while you see a field that looks terrible. Last of soybeans planted about one or two weeks back which is about six weeks late and much of the delay was due to wet fields. Short our crops are looking very good and both they and grass is growing fast. We don't have enough rain to have water in most branches but still damp. <br>

Even with our dought last year hay was being shipped from here to Texas due to their shortage of cattle grazing crop.

I really believe your best bet on the Long is try to find a former dealer of theirs and ask them on the parts. It is my impression some parts are still available but not all. If you don't know a dealer who sold Long I do and will be glad to pass on his info to you. He is type of person who will try to help and they do ship parts and have some access to used parts for Long.

The 460 is about 46 hp right? I have no idea what numbers on the four digit are the hp indicator.

First welcome to TP.

Have you had it to happen with only ONE pto implement or more than one? If only one first check the implement's gear box to be sure it has proper lube in it. It could be getting hot and slowly binding putting extra load on the tractor.

But it could be something with the tractor as simple as air filter or fuel filter need replacing. Of those two would suspect fuel is more likely the issue. Don't think air would require the tractor to site. If not the implement the next time it does this be prepared to check and see if fuel is getting to the pump, at least through the filters. Could be trash in tank or hose or clogged filter. Also could be air vent for fuel tank is partly clogged creating vacuum in fuel tank stopping flow. Fits what you describe. Cutting off the pto of course reduces the power needed so less fuel is needed.

Don't know your model but was the tractor service when you bought it, or have you changed the fluids? If not really recommend you do so as you have no idea when it was. Would do full service.

As to oil leaking assume you mean engine oil. Do you mean it is over full on the dipstick? If so would drain it to the full level. Try to be certain you are not seeing any sign or coolant or diesel fuel in the engine oil.

Even if there is a oil leak does not mean you have a lemon. Could be a very simple fix. First thing may be clean the tractor very good so you can see where it is coming from.

By bars you mean to connect the cutter to the tractor correct?
You don't mean the lift arms on the tractor do you? Really don't think you would want to make the ones that are on the tractor due to pivot connections in both ends.

If you mean lift arms on the cutter or slasher they should not be that difficult just getting correct dimensions.

That is so true Murf. To me that is a lot of what I have found at TP. Still remember the way I was greeted here and how "polite" my question was answered in some degree as one posted something like you got a big piggy bank? Over the years there have been many here who gave a little help along and along. BTW have a special mug given to me by a former client and friend who passed not many months after giving it to me. Careful with it.

I suspect the tanks are not the same quality as they were when Murfs unit was made. We recently built and the plumber let me know what brand he wanted (AO Smith USA built brand) for that very reason. If you read the ones on the floor at say Lowes a lot that affects the price is how long they are warranting the tank for. My guess is a lot of electric water heaters (most popular by far here) last like Murfs with little care that were installed in the 60's and 70s for 30 or more years. Don't forget those units were not insulated as well and that may have something to do with the life also but metal expert will have to address that.

Unless your tractor also uses one that fits another brand think you are in for a hard hunt.

But you will just had to keep hitting sites like ebay and other used equipment sites. There are a few. The tractor companies also have such sites.

Well if you are asking where to put the fluid in it means you know how to check it and what kind of fluid it is. Sometime many others don't know.

I remember many years ago my mother who only learned to drive in her 40's or so and a neice of mine checked her car oil and decided it was low. She told about it and how she now understood whey a service station charged so much to add oil. Turned out they had slowly, very slowly added a quart of oil using the dipstick tube.

Tractors can be inestering on where to add some fluids for they can be plugs you remove and have to know which plug is which. Gear boxs on cutters and such are also fun until you check one or two and gain the confidence to know what you are seeing.

BTW, welcome fellow rural Sandlaper to TP. I an between Aynor and Conway about 20 miles from Myrtle Beach.

Did you check the air filter? Also check the air intake for insect nest.
Does it die down pulling a load?

Is it a line that could have been pulled off by a limb or must a wrench be used? Is it possible some one did damage to the motor?

But if it is almost starting such as air in line do follow suggestion for proper bleeding it but WD 40 does help in such starting if you have someone to help you.

Boy the laws are different in the US and Canada. Unless it is required for a loan or such only the owner can make such a change here and no one is notified of the change other than back to the owner.

Also no way you can take out insurance on another adult without their approval as they must answer the health questions and sign off on them and such. Not even unlimited power of attorney will work due to those reasons. Many military wives ask on this right after husband is shipped out.

Along that line have known of part of divorce settlement require the termination of life insurance on the spouse owned by the soon to be ex. Sort of for the reason Dennis points out.
