Believe it or not there can be some help on you tube also. At least of what not to do. LOL There are both there, some people showing how their implements work or how they do something and then those who show how their tore up something. One thing you will normally find with tractor owners are they are very helpful or willing to share info with you if you will just ask. Guess it has to do with the type of person who likes to play in the dirt. (normally)

Here the most common two methods are install large drain pipe (for your pond 12 inch probably is large enough). We have an acre pond and 8 inch has proven sufficient but it does not catch much run off. Those are often just installed say a foot from the top of the dam or lower and use a 90% elbow and then install a pipe cut with slots for water but small enough to prevent trash from clogging. The second method probably is much like Greg is talking about but using poured concrete so the water can just run over it without washing but if sloped gentle enough and shallow enough you can drive over them if you wish to drive around the pond. Now we don't have ice very thick (an inch for a couple of days is rare) so the drain pipe may not work there.

Auerbach, my thoughts are when a somewhat odd problem hits they just don't have the support or experience there. Sure this will vary somewhat from dealership to dealership and does with all brands but think they are still young enough here they don't have the broader and more experience support older brands do and then the slow economy the last 2 or 3 years has not helped. Some times experience is just hard to beat.

Sorry about your tractor, husband and more so son.

If you will ask around or even use the yellow pages probably can find an independent mechanic. One of the best ways is just ask and ask those who have tractors. At same time you might find a true garage who does such work and with the smaller number of brands there are some good former dealerships who are now independent garages. At same time dealership might be higher on paper but can be less when repair is done as they should know it better going in.

I have no idea on NH parts or any other dealerships than one I know. They have sources for certain used parts and my guess is any good tractor shop will. Realize some are more willing to look for such than others might be. Have you tried just doing a web search for those parts by name and used?

Bret, for me the second and much smaller tractor keeps my main tractor free. When you are doing some jobs you just need a second rig. You need one to say level dirt as the other is moving dirt or disking it or you need a sprayer or spreader to run ahead of a disk or what ever. It can be a saver in just preventing the switching of implements back and forth. Another twist to the second tractor is it makes it easier to ask for help...

Possibly the farmer also benefits due to the higher grain price then there is the higher cost he pays for much of what he buys so he might gross more but net less. Then the grain price is so dependent on the oil price. It really makes raising grain a more up and down price product than before.

Years ago I read when all this was first being talked about the bio diesel might make it possible for a farmer to raise his own fuel, sort of like with work animals raising your fuel for them. Have not heard any where of that being reasonable have any of you? I would think the government would not be happy if the individual were to be able to produce their own fuel for road taxes might be very difficult to collect. A couple of years back there was a big article done and a person who was collecting waste cooking oil and he told in the article how it cost less due to not paying any tax on the fuel he was burning. He was doing maybe 25% (don't remember the exact %) and let it be known there was no taxes on that part. Made me wonder if he would be hearing from the State and Federal on his failure to pay road taxes.

I try to run mine with pto shaft level but the lower you lift it the narrower it will spread. On my spreader it does not throw the same to both sides. Yours may or may not. If you will have someone else drive it and you watch if from the rear it might help you notice pattern a lot.

Since I think right after Thanksgiving we have been much colder than normal and for us very unusual snow twice or snow once and ice the second time. One of the weather reporters did a great job when he said our high is lower than our normal low temp. What have I learned in this...you guys are to be admired! Be careful out there.

Well since it has been treated to a mud bath, would it hurt to just wash it on the engine and allow it to dry well? Or is it possible to reach it with say a rubber hammer and air hose at same time to tap it to loosen the mud and blow it out? Then if it does not work worry with pulling it.

I don't know your tractor but have you looked to be sure the shaft is moving as you work the lever? Could there be a pin or bolt missing that works the shaft?

Well your thoughts are more honorable than mine, I thought law suit.
I had filled a complaint with a regulator authority once and got called for a survey. Turned out to be for an attorney who's client was suing that company. They were bringing in others who had issues to prove the company had track record of problems.

Dan when we got our Gator a few years back seems there was three different companies who made options for them. Just do a search for gator tops and think you will find them. I passed on the prices for what I found and have yet to get mine made. Might be a good spring job.

Mark,
you may also want to check: clogged air filter, clogged radiator both air flow and water flow, pump not work fully, clogged or bottom radiator hose that collapses, slipping pump and fan belt.
