Murf touched on this and Jd you were talking to me a very quality brand. I just wonder what percentage of those who buy the big box model are pleased and using that mower 10, 20 years later? At same time if you are not going to take care of it nothing holds up.

Did the pieces you in the frame come out OK?

I had shaft or pin on excavator bucket to snap in June and needed to replaced worn bushings. Look at that thread for thought that might work to finish getting the drilled out pin. It currently is in Hot Subjects and is Shaft for Bucket. Might be a solution there for you.

One that is not there and might work for you due to amount of metal difference is to heat the bushing (not the pin) and see if will expand enough to release the pin.

I don't find joy in our sorrow but your pin made mine look like a friend. Hope all goes well. If you end up damaging the cylinder there could be a pressed in sleeve bushing in there or you may be able to bore and sleeve it. I found a company who makes my bushings for $30 each while Volvo was only $90 each.

Tiger, by chance you near Auburn with that name?

I have dug a good bit of pine and hardwood stumps that were up to 2 feet in diameter with a 5 ton excavator using a 24 inch bucket. Anything bigger and I know how to drive by it or know it will be a hole as big as the machine. Have a 30 inch bucket for loading dirt and have dug some stumps with it. It is amazing the difference between the two buckets when it comes to digging stumps. The wider the bucket the more dirt you are pulling and the wider the roots you are breaking. If I were buying a bucket for my machine to just dig stumps it would be either a 12 or 18 inch one.

BTW, smaller machines can dig stumps they can not lift out of the hole. Forget loading them over the side of a trailer or such.

One other solution, you may find some place that offers low price cooler space. Old grocery stores or produce farmers could. Another place they show on tv is a cave.

Jeff reading how concerned you are for my safety brought a tear to me eye.

To Murf, my wife is the best local dry ice expert I know as they did make it and use it in hospital lab where she works. I will ask her.

Oh on the time line, it is really looking like a real contractor's machine with the grass growing on the dirt in the bucket and the vines providing shade for operator. Much better option than a "lace" curtain. I do agree it has been down too long.

Have you checked to see if free fuel flow coming from the tank? It could be something as simple as a piece of floating trashed pulled into the outlet when fuel was low. Do get filter in there.

Have no idea on this set up so very very general questions. Have you talked with the previous owner on this? Is it even possible? They might shed some good insight. Past that have you looked carefully for any sign of a missing rollpin or set screw that is allowing the lever to move but not moving the linkage?

Well Frank the last of our fresh corn went in freezer last night.

Brian, to begin with please send EW the directions to Romance, he has been looking in all the wrong places all his life and now might be his chance.

To your machine, a couple of so years ago used my tractor and when I went back like you to use it a few days or so later it would turn over. Holding the key in the start position and with clutch depresses and in seat began moving each lever that had a safety switch on it. Some how a safety switch or lever had moved just enough needed a slight movement of the lever. Thought about fixing it but realize, an anti theft devise.

However I read you reply as it turns over but does not fire, my experience safety switches prevent the starter from working and not firing of the engine. If it is turning over suspect it is a fuel issue somehow. A fuel cut off got turned off, solenoid that opens for fuel is not opening or such.

I don't have front end loader (FEL) but think you will find the front tires are not to be widen with FEL to keep axle strong. The rear wheels probably can be widen with changing the wheels from one side to the other. I don't think that tractor has two piece rims if so then you have other options than just switching the tires from one side to other. I assume you recently bought this and trust manual came with it. Read it, Kubota does a good job with their manual. If you go to switch the rear tires don't forget the front axle pivots, so don't just use one jack but block both sides so the tractor does not move when the first wheels weight comes off of it. Can be very dangerous.

Harvey, sorry I missed you giving the hearing protection right before I did. Last week stopped by a friend who was running a large mower with no hearing protection, now I know why he says "huh" a lot.

It may be a great price but it makes sense to check with a second dealership. But my question is are you considering adding backhoe or front end loader to this machine as you make mention it does not have a loader and many on the web show loaders on them. If you are you may want to ask for thoughts on 2 wheel drive with loader.

Sounds like your plug is not firing. Had a mechanic tell me once right or wrong on small engines he has them go bad with the engine getting flooded one time. I would check for spark at plug tip. You could have pulled wire while working on the gas lines or done as others (not me :) ) not realize it was switched off or at least not fully on.

If your levers are rotating rods in the transmission have someone to work them while you watch to see if there is any slippage between the levers and the rods. Do the shift levers sit in a slot such as fender? If so are you sure the lever does not hit the end of the slot before fully shifting? Hope it is the linkage and nothing in the transmission.
